Over the past 7-8 years, we have been leading the Salary League table in EPL. Most of our rival fans and managers alike (Im looking at you, Mr. Whinger) have been using this point to state that we have been buying success. But Im gald the club have finally started to look into this matter. Wage bill in 03/04 - 115m pounds rose to 172m by 07/08. But with us becoming what I had call frugal rather than miserly over the past 3 summers, we have seen this number reduce to 142.6m by the end of 09/10. But this is still a distant 20m off the 2nd placed Man Utd. And now by releasing Ballack (120k), Joey (90k), Ricky (85k), Belleti (65k), Deco (96k) we have managed to shave off almost 20-25m off our current wage bill. Also, our losses over the years have been reducing on a yearly basis. Last yr we posted a net loss of 42m pounds. Considering all these factors, I can see ourselves turning green by the end of 2011-2012 season. The future is green or should i say Blue !??!

I actually wouldn't mind us having a decent season (being runners up or so) if it means we get to bed in a lot of our youngsters... There is bound to be a transition season or 2 for every club and with the mass exodus, I see this yr and next as being transitional...

Trixi was not the man who took care of their commercial side. It is Manuel Arroyo Perez who takes care of the commercial side of things in Barca. What I can see Trixi as is the role of the man who gets the transfers done. Its his influence & contacts which may be the thing we lack in getting a transfer done rather than always coming close but not just getting there. End of the day, I hope we dont move in for him !!

Neymar can play all across the frontline.. Danny is a striker and not a winger.. Although we wud all luv to see Kakuta being deployed there, i don think Carlo sees him as a starting 11 person yet..

Definitely he is gonna get sold. Otherwise Carlo would hv been very clear in saying NO. but chose not to. Sad actually. I think he could be a really useful utility player for us. Not exactly starting 11 types, but for rotations. But maybe he wants to be playing regularly each season. Cant blame him.

@ Esk - Where do you think Ozil would fit in our formation? Definitely not the RCM? He is someone who plays in the hole with no tracking back responsibilities. If he is played in the RCM, we would be a defensive mess. Nothing against the player, in fact hes superb !! But to get the best out of him, we would have to play 4-2-3-1 with Ess n Ramires the CMs.

I highly doubt if we would really bring in anyone. Peter did not really replace anyone when he moved to the post of non-executive president from CEO. That was just phasing him out slowly by handing the responsibilities to Ron. So I dont really think we need to be looking at who would be replacing him. I had be really surprised if Trixi came in. He is not a good negotiator neither a scout. But he is someone with a wide array of contacts and reach in a lot of clubs. If Roman brings him in, I cant really see what he would bring to the table. May be the board knows something we dont know !!!

Why dont you think Ramires is coming ?!!? Wilkins himself said hes expecting him by the end of this week or next !!! I expect Ess to be deployed as a DM and Ramires as RCM in our line-up.. Probably they ll exchange their roles depending on the situations.

Well we are yet to see what Gourlay can do.. So we just have to wait.. As for Peter, I believe we relieved him only to reduce the wage bill... Remember he was on 2m a yr !! And now that the commercial side of our club is well established, Gourlay just has to maintain them... Also, most of our deals are long term deals which mean Gourlay does not hv to do anything abt it !!! His work wd now be solely concentrated on new avenues like Naming rights, Property development, hospitality packages, ticketing structures etc.
