I think he should have started today. His pace would have troubled Maguire for sure, especially because we did not play as offensive as we used to, so he can focus more on making runs for counter attack. Giroud did not make any sense today. Giroud should only play if we want to play possession based football. Apart from that, play Tammy and/or Werner. Their pace is useful in these kind of games

He is playing really well the last couple of months. He finally found his position. He is perfect for a back 3,but so is Guehi. Probably Tuchel will still let Rüdiger play though 🙄

I agree. He was horrible in the first half, but he stepped up in the second half. I would say that was mostly because he is not a counter attacking player. He is a player that needs the ball regularly, not 5 times every 5 minutes. Look at the performance of Bruno. He is exactly the same. If he does not get the ball regularly, he loses possession 20 times per game (that was the most today). Both Bruno nor Ziyech are counter attacking players. Also, give Ziyech couple of matches to get his sharpness back. I always give this example. Remember when KDB was out of the squad 2 months straight and then played a FA Cup match against a opponent from Championship? KDB could not play a simple pass. Guys like KDB and Ziyech need to develop the sharpness due to match fitness because you need to understand when to pass and know all the movements from his teammates. A winger that is out of the squad for a while has it much easier to start games because dribbling is much easier than playing world class passes. He could have scored today, but obviously Prime De Gea had to show up lol. Of course Tuchel had to play, defensive when Ziyech starts. Our today's system would have been much better for Werner, but did not suit Ziyech well, but the matches before that suited Ziyech well, but not Werner. Ziyech did not play in those matches though

He is heavily criticised in Germany for his lack of quality. People already questioned if he is actually Bayern material.

Somehow he changed the formation when he was at Juventus. They started with a 4-3-3, but they switched to a different system later on, so CR7 and Dybala could fit better into the system. But at Chelsea, it was just 4-3-3.

I would say that counter attacking football suits him a lot because he can use his pace and dribbling abilities. Pulisic just in not in form. Why? Probably all the injuries he had, but now I am not so sure where Pulisic will play. Tuchel used him once as a wing back, but that can't be it lol

He is better than Werner technically, but he is nowhere near the level of Lewandowski and Kane for instance. He prefers counter striking football because he can use his pace and strenght better. But he made an interview yesterday, in which he said that he watches Lewandowski all the time and tries to copy his moves, so he can become better. So, he at least he knows his weaknesses But the question always is how are those guys going to perform against defenders that big muscle wise, tall and fast like in Pl? In Bundesliga the defending level is complete garbage and it is not physical as for instance PL or Ligue 1. I always say that Ligue 1 is very similar to PL because of their technical and physical football.

The problem with Mount dropping deep is that he lacks the creativity to play those through balls. He played maybe 2 through balls in his whole career at Chelsea. So Mount will not solve our issues. That formation would rely on Ziyech overall because he is our only creative player. Look at the level of Man City. They have Gündo, KDB, Silva and Mahrez in their squad that able to play creative passes. Rodri is also pretty solid technically and is much better than Kante when it comes to forward passing. We just have Ziyech and he does not even play 😂

Question for me is if Haaland even suits the style of play that Man City plays. Pep prefers to have WC technical masterminds as CF like Messi, David Villa or Aguero. Haaland is clearly not that type of player. He is perfect for counter attacks and that style fits Man United for instance, but that does not fit Man City football. If I was Pep, I would rather go for an elite technical mastermind like Messi, Kane, Lewandowski or Lautaro.

I don't think that our CBs had much defending to do.
