Today would have been just his kind of game. Faster and more robust than both mata and Oscar and with higher workrate than both. He is also our only accurate crosser, effectively. I'd always pick him over Schürrle tbh.

When he is not sharp he becomes useless as soon as the player defending him is faster and stronger than him. Unfortunately almost every player in the epl are. So his rustiness cost us dearly today. I feel Mata had his early peak and is just not getting any better now but the season is still young and he has only played once so lets wait and see.

He should have scored at least one goal. Ramires cross was perfect and he headed wide. When the ball came to him and the goal was open he rushed his finish. he should have been aware of barry. He only had to stop the ball before shooting and letting barry tackle air. But he does pass miles better than Torres, who loses about every second ball because of inaccurate passes and his headless chicken runs. His workrate was ok and he made good runs. But as it stand we still lack a worldclass striker which makes everything a bit harder

Maybe u are right. Liverpool are black horses but bound to fail at some point. And we got two of the most difficult away fixtures out of the way. This month is also our trip to White hart lane, so only Anfield and Etihad remain of the corny trips. Still we should have 10 points by now. A loss that early in the season can be poison. i can't remember Jose chasing teams in the league effectively. He as well as us are better at being top all season. We face an uphill struggle now, we really do, City is only getting better. When all a team has to do to inhibit our attacking threat is to go out and run at us, we really are in deep trouble.

Thing is we can't score to save our lives. We were lucky to score vs Bayern, we were lucky to score vs Aston villa and today our only chances where dumb mistakes by everton which we wre too shit to capitalize on. And yeah, we got 3 ridiculously misfiring strikers now.
