Defense comes first for fullbacks and the better the winger is the less the fullback has to contribute. When we had those Anelka-Malouda wing-partnership who could not beat a player to save their life, we constantly relied on our fullbacks. Now we have Hazard who easily beats 2 or 3 players and Moses/Mata/KDB on the other side who when they get lucky can beat at least one player, so we do not really need the fullbacks to get the ball in.

11,66 is not exactly fast. About half all males of my sports class in High School have been faster at their matura final exam. I run 11,30 on 100m and it is by far my worst sprinting distance. 40 yard dash is king.

Lampard scores goals from any range against any kind of opposition. In a 4-3-3 Lamps is still able to control the midfield and I am sure we will use this formation at some stage cos the extra man in midfield is invaluable.

The dude's not been forgotten he is just not good enough. Khedira is just about slightly over average. He is slow, he is technically mediocre, he is ponderous, he got the flange edge radius of a Mercedes S600. I would consider him only after De Rossi and Gustavo. I really appreciate your work coughing up statistics but they show it, he wins less duels than Lamps and his 59% shot accuracy mean nothing cos he scores as good as never which is also not his job. You give the answer yourself, we don't need him. IMO we got enough depth in midfield but we lack quality. Lampard and Ramires are the only quality players in there and both are not exactly made for the pivot. MvG is still young but honestly I'd have him over Khedira any day. His mere tenacity, impressively demonstratetd when he bullied Khedira himself of the ball multiple times shows just how much more combative he is. Van Ginkel will be much better than Kheidra very very soon.

Sprinting ability is something you are born with cos an individual's stake of fast-twitch muscle fibres is genetically determined. Creativity, vision, passing ability is something you can practise. Pace is not. Btw Mata's acceleration is pathetic. It may look ok because he is so small and always slows down after the first few steps but Mata is probably the worst athlete in our team. Mata's finishing is far from perfection. it's not true Bale "gave up his assist game". Bale had some awesome assists this season. It is just all those games where nothing went right for tottenham he could just take the ball and hammer in the top corner and he did this multiple times. That is something Mata can't do. Bale changes games himself, Mata always needs s.o. to set him up or finish his assist. I know this is a Chelsea forum but Bale is a good deal ahead of Mata in terms of current ability and potential if you really have to compare the two.
