I fuckin hate playing against them. All their shitfaced cunts raise their game immensely against us every time. If City would play against the rest of the world like they play against us, they would be crowned Champions of Europe. At least that is never gonna happen. The problem is their physicality. Their players are as fast as ours but stronger. That is why Mata will be completely useless here. We need to be extremely fast here to ensure we got a pace advantage on as many positions as possible if we do not want to get bullied off the ball all the time. Ramires will escape Fernandinho and Toure at times. But who is more likely to get past Clichy/zabaleta/richards Willian or Schürrle? I reckon Schürrle is maybe a tad faster but Willian has better skills. Anyway, we have to be a bit more solid in defence than vs Schalke, on the other hand if we can remain that standard of finishing (which is unlikely cos City will not allow us that much space) we will win.

Still Fergie wrote an awful lot of BS in that book.

Impressive win. Couldn't watch the match hence would be grateful if anyone has a torrent of it or so. When Eto'o starts scoring and we got Torres on decent form (his second goal was really well taken and his header to the post would have been one of the best headed goals ever, it was fuckin 15 yards out), we are serious contenders on all fronts.

This should have been the hardest fixture in the group, but considering who is out for Schalke it is more the 2nd easiest. I expect them to be extremely motivated, their 2nd gear will surely try to impress the manager in such a spectacular fixture. But maybe this will exactly play in our cards. We let them come and counter them to death.

shiiiit. Reminds me of that Torres goal he scored vs Blackburn for Liverpool.
-
But that is because Torres has been so inhibited that he did not throw himself into challenges like he did at Liverpool. He just did not seem to care. The games vs Tottenham and Steaua seemed the first one he really risked something and got injured immediately.

That is actually a very good question. Dortmund players tend to get those small injuries more often due to fatigue as a result of their brutal running which is part of Klopp's football approach. Esp midfielders, winger and fullbacks are subject to that. Just check Pisczek's Schmelzer's or Blascykowski's injury history and you know what i mean. But Gündogan is a special case. I have no doubt that we have a better medical department than Dortmund, cos we are a much bigger club. But Lewandowski and the centre-backs are almost injury-free, so would not say their medical department is bad. Anyway. We usually don't go for injury-prone players (but when we do we make sure we pay at least 50m haha)

He is really an amazing palyer, but his injury record is worrying. He has at least one major injuries every season. This guy has torn muscles his doctors did not even know priorly. But that is not even the whole problem. He picks up an awful lot of small injuries that take him out for just a week but completely disrupt his rhythm. This guy is a top professional and he will perform when much is at stake, even if not fit, but he just isn't the player you want to use in your pivot regularly to win the league. His repeated absence clearly cost Dortmund rhythm and points last season. These days he has clinched his spine. I mean how often does this shit happen to a footballer? just think of one injury or illness, this guy most probably already has suffered from it.

Ah and we should really reconsider playing Ivanovic. Most of the time he will be up against Draxler. He is a very dangerous player. That is why I think Mou will probably play Willian who tracks back more and more effectively. I'd try to double Draxler with Willian and Azpi, who are both much faster than Draxler, so we would nullify his greatest strength- his agility.
-
W8 D4 L4 ok record, even though except for our win vs Bayern in 2005 no real dominant performance With their injury list we really should win this. Boateng and Draxler are their only real dangerous players left. I'd go for a Ramires-Mikel pivot to control those two bitches. Mikel really has to work in this one, cos Boateng will be running all over the pitch. Oscar and Hazard pick themselves. the question is now Willian or Mata. There will be a bunch of very mediocre players out there for Schalke. We should really wipe the floor with guys like Aogo, Uchida, Neustätter, Meyer, Clemens, Szalai.

Forgotten/Never lived upto the hype Footballers?
Magic Lamps replied to kwylino's topic in Football Chat
Sebastian Deisler Marko Marin Lukas Podolski, who actually is a decent player, but he was 20 fuckin years young when he conquered the World Cup but his only major titles are some odds Bundesliga Championships when the Bundesliga was extremely shit and he still was only a benchwarmer. Johnathan Woodgate Valerij Boijinov and Salomon Kalou were expected to become the greatest strikers in the world - but only in Fifa 07 Ganso Well, he has won everything. Some players just can't motivate themselves to do the extraordinary every game. Also Drogba, Ibra are such players. That is just their mentality. But their mentality is also what makes them special players, you don't know how they would have developed if you would take away that. -
Yup. Goal should not have counted, ref should really know that. I understand it is forbidden to attack the goalie when he kicks the ball, cos this is really dangerous, But at times it is really difficult to tell whether a keeper bounces the ball, drops it or throws it into his pass. IMO the 6s rule should apply to bouncing but not the "under control" rule. For a goalie, there is no need to bounce the ball at all so there is no reason why that movement should be under protection.

That move by Arsenal for the 1-0 was scary, 2 amazing flick ons, not even BArcelona are capable of producing that. Anyway, this works once in 100 tries and Norwich defenders do not cover themselves in glory either. That lanky black guy should have got a touch, the ball got past him 3 times but he did not commit himself to one player, the CB should stay with wilshere, while the other CB with no5 does not even bother to get involved. Norwich got 6 players around the ball. If you can't play offside, you at least have to stay close to you man. Real bad communication.

We actually played pretty well, IMO our midfield completely dominated them. Lamps and Rami were extremely disciplined and won an outstanding amount of tackles. Willian was wayward at times, great work but not exactly effective, same as Mata. When Oscar came on the game changed completely. Also Eto'o and Hazard were instrumental ofc. The defence actually had a shocker. It is only thanks to Terry that we just conceded one goal. He won about a dozen headers, almost scored and kept Cardiff's striker so silent, I don't even know his name. Ivanovic, Luiz were error prone offensively and defensively. When we are a bit more solid at the back, we will win this game even more straightforward. The scoreline is a bit flattering, Hazar's and Oscar's goals were massive mistakes by the goalie, but we had 19 attempts and created at least 7 or 8 clear cut chances, so offensively we were decent. Especially the movement was nice, really smoothly. Cardiff had 11 men behind the ball, so we needed to drag them out of positon to create space on the wings which we achieved. We always return slow form international breaks and from now on we should only get better, now the team is finding form and the new players esp etoo and Willian acclimatize increasingly.

Oscar > Mata this season, even though both are quality. Mata was ok but ineffective today. When Oscar came on, the game was completely different, he showed vision, impetus and most importantly energy. Mata is an elegant player but Oscar is just that more pacy, sharp and energetic which makes him Mou's new favourite. He actually reminds me of a young Lampard. His goal was lucky but who cares. His pass for Eto'o was nice, too. I fear, Oscar's rise will cut Mata's Chelsea career short.
-
No idea why he did not simply put the ball in an empty net for the first, but in the end it did not matter. I hope those "he lost his pace and is shit" BS will stop eventually. The cardiff defenders struggled with his pace all match long and his winner was an impressive demonstration of skill, quick feet and precision.
-
Not the best performance, but two goals, can't complain. That will give him his confidence back. He will tear Schalke apart in midweek.
-
Lamps's performance today was as close to a DLP as it gets. Ramires was a little subdued in the first half, but Lamps made up for it. The defence had a shocker (except for Terry) and Mata and Willian weren't exactly effective, but our midfield really turned the game I feel. It might not have exactly been a quaity oppositon, but I have seldom seen Lamps making so many successful tackles.
