THIS!!! I hate moaning about him - the guy gives 100% every game and is a great player - but he's been giving the shitty end of the stick... ESPECIALLY as we have DEDICATED players to play in that EXACT position... Just wish he'd be given a chance alongside Mikel.. If he picked the ball up - he could run forward and push it wide to the wings (Hazard or Moses) or through the centre (Oscar/Mata/Torres/Studge - whoever is playing) - then Mikel could sit deep and his lack of pace would not be exposed as much, because Ramires has an abundance of pace! If I, as an ageing 36 yr old Champ Man/FM/Fifa guy can see this (not to mention all of the other posters) - WHY can't RDM? It's just got to be worth trying.... Ramires gives so much and is getting so little lately... I know I'll end up not liking him - but I do really like him...

Hmm - think I agree with the bans and Fans should be more respectful - it's fine having a good argument, even a punch-up - but when lots of people die needlessly it is a bit bad. Especially if the old bill cover it up and blame everybody else. I also like Rugby - and having been to games - there's no segregation, everybody has a bit of banter and a laugh, you can drink beer during the game! It's such a better atmosphere. The players respect the ref's (well at least publically). We could learn a lot in football from Rugby...

Welcome - always liked Sampdoria - especially the kit Those were the glory days of Serie A - when English TV showed all of the matches, because Paul Gascoigne was playing over there... I'm sure it was Channel 4.... Anyway, Ciao I'm living in the country next to you - Austria

Disagree... Not attacking you personally, just stating my opinion on your post 1) If QPR had of taken their chances they would also have won comfortably. 2) Second half our Midfield was completely over-run 3) Yes, he did well last season - but that was with an INHERITED squad - this summer we've spent lot's of money on new players and so far we haven't integrated them (except Hazard) - these were HIS signings and we are going backwards 4) Our league form was dreadful last year 5) The only quality opposition we have faced is Atletico - if you don't think we'll get exposed with our current line-up against Juve - then it will be a long, frustrating night. RDM should have used this game + training after the Atletico Match to get Romeu or Ramires into the DP. Instead - he loaned out Essien and sold Meireless - not exactly top of the class there with 'tactical' thinking. 6) Brazil are playing Oscar in nearly every competitive match - why aren't we? How is the kid supposed to learn if he's not played? If you are 'good enough' you are 'old enough' - that's the way of the world. So there's 6 reasons why I think unless RDM really starts to change things - we could be in trouble. Like I have also said - I REALLY REALLY REALLY like Robbie - he was a great player for us, I love his calmness, his professionalism - BUT this all means squat, if he cannot change things on the pitch

LOL more 'Lampard' bashing... Lampard is still a quality player - but it's like asking a 'spoon' to be a 'fire guard' or 'tits on a fish' - doesn't work playing him in a position he's not suited too! Like I say - go watch Scholes for Man U - that's where Lampard should be playing and 'orchestrating' things - not trying to defend + transition the ball forward- he just doesn't have the legs. I also suggest you go watch him before his last injury, you like bashing him - so go get some perspective on what a truly fantastic player he has been and COULD still be - if played in a decent position! As for Terry - without him, we are a shambles as Hutcho said. He has at least another 2 years (not every game) and he either needs to bring Cahil or Luiz up to speed on how to be a captain and marshall the defence.

We could have been in trouble if Mikel's backpass had been seized upon.... This is QPR! We should have won comfortably. They are a new team with lots of new players - they had zero time to gel - yet look more accomplished than we did at certain stages of the game. I'll say it again (like most people) going with that Formation, Approach and Personnel to QPR was probably the single worst tactics I have ever seen RDM display - and it is really concerning... Yes, we all know he likes the Counter Attack - but since when have QPR been an all out attacking force? It's that kind of 'one-dimensional' thinking that will really start to see him under pressure. Once teams figure out we're all about the counter attack, they will nullify us easily - for the likes of QPR / STOKE / Etc - getting a point is a good result and maybe they might nick a win... Also playing tried and tested players in positions they are not used to - is no way to build a team for the future. If Brazil think Oscar is ready, why the F**K don't we... And for those saying we missed MATA - are we really back to a 1 player team again? We need to lessen our relience on MATA and create from ALL areas of the pitch.

Dude I started this thread - it's about RDM's tactics and progressive long-term thinking. It's not a thread to bash Lampard - who, despite not playing brilliantly in a role he's not suited for - has done more for CFC over the years THAN ANY player in CFC modern history. Yes Drogba was also great - but Lampard has played nearly every game and consistently scored ~20 goals a season. It's not Frank's fault - it's RDM's for playing him in a position he is not suited too! RDM should sit down and watch Man U - they can find a place for Scholes + Giggs - we need to do the same for Frank. Please keep it on Robbie's decision making, not individual players
-
Dude chill - we are all agreeing on the same thing... Torres played his part as did the rest of the lads Torres is inconsistent and my personal preference for him (as a person) is a swap deal with Atletico for Falcao... Nobody is saying Torres is bigger than CFC, merely stating like every other CFC warrior that night, they deserve some credit Credit where credits due - as they say!
-
But playing 2 wingers gives Spuds so many options in attack and really opens out the play... Marin + Moses would do the same for us...
-
Awesome post - couldn't have said it better myself...
-
Atletico Madrid.... And they aren't even considered as good as Real or Barca....
-
Not personal - but quoting helps keep it in context Agree - it possibly is way too early.. I want RDM to succeed BTW - i loved him as a player... and as a person he is great, just hope he makes that next step...
-
I'll describe it.. He walked off the pitch and down the tunnel with the typical Torres face... That's it in a nutshell...
-
Yup - and then the Arsenal fiasco... Just cannot go through that again....
-
Chill.... It's not personal... You're saying you expect top 4 and a Cup... I'm saying if we keep playing formations al a QPR then we are all deluded if we think that's on the cards... Delusion of Grandeur is a term - not a personal insult Anyway, watching Spuds v Reading and they are spanking Reading... with an attacking mentality and playing with wingers - really wish we'd have played like this yesterday... Studge is easily as good, if not better than Defoe...
-
We haven't played a decent team yet! The only decent team we have played spanked us 4-1... Keep up with the delusions of grandeur all you like, but this thread is discussing the inherent lack of subjective decision making by RDM. Defensive against QPR is not title contending or any Cup winning form - its survival and we used a lot of our Luck up last year
-
I think what Shonex meant is: 1) this thread is huge 2) lets try and keep discussions current - e.g. This season...
-
Could we lock it and start a new one?
-
Think he is playing better - just struggling with Lampard. Thought his best game was with Meireles, buts that's no longer an option. Time o pair him with Romeu and see how that works out, as not working for Lamps...
-
Dude - we MAY have signed creative players but we sure as fuck aren't playing them! Yes Torres was a twat for storming off, but it could also be he is as frustrated as me at having a bench full of talent and he's gt Cech giving long balls, Ramires losing the ball every second and fuck all incisive play. Yes Studge looked good - but was pretty impossible to look worse, even Heskey would have looked good I still feel best thing for him and CFC is a swap for Falcao....
-
The same reason we ask why is Ramires on RW again We should be expirementing IMHO - and use substitutes to change it, if not working:)
-
Yup, that's why people have been frustrated, especially me... We know ALL of Bosys weaknesses, so who better to exploit them, than us Oh well role on Stoke...
-
Agreed - he runs into trouble or gives the ball away. It's not his natural position so not critisicing him - annoyed he is being asked to play there... It like asking a tyre fitter to change your clutch - he has most of the tools available, but theory and practice are 2 different things. Moses has shown he can start, so hopefully Ramy on RW will phase out...
-
Hmm feel bad about starting this thread now... It wasn't that I wanted him gone, more just trying to understand his thought processes on making lots of signings and failing to incorporate them.. E.g what's his defining football strategy... Mikel + Lamps is not working, why can't he try something else? Ramires on the wing is not working, he also didn't track back either. I just think the team lacks natural balance and fluidity - not playing players purchased is hardly inspiring to them is it? Loaning out and selling midfield options is also not great. He's gambled on that, instead of formations and I just hope it doesn't bite us in the arse. Quick analogy - Arsenal a few seasons ago, teams worked out their one-dimensional approach and put 2 banks of 4 behind the ball, result - Arsenl don't break them down and Wenger started the Anti-football campaign. I'm worried this could happen to us
-
We should never 'expect' to win every game. It's just our tactics looked lacking in an 'attacking' sense - QPR are not a well gelled organised unit (yet) and I feel, with a stronger attacking intent, we could have put them on the back-foot and capitalised on the game. Yes, we are top of the league and not conceeding (which is great) - but teams will soon work out, if they PRESS HIGH and close us down, we are ineffective and unable to score... If QPR had a decent strike-force - we could have been punished pretty severely today, that's just not a situation we should be in...
