I dont have a problem with players like andre mvg etc playing. We do have a deep squad. What I had a problem with is the expectation of just putting all our thoughts into the man u game. This game shouldn't be seen as a great opportunity to rest players for the important games. It should be primarily seen as a game where 3 points are up for grabs and not taken lightly. Hazard for example doesn't need to be rested for this game. We could not play hazard mata or Oscar and would still be favourites to win the game.But imo the whole resting players especially this early is just going too far. Squads need time to familiarise themselves with each other in game. Only so much can take part on the training ground. And we would be worse off imo by every game swapping 5 players over. Villa is worth 3 points. So is united. It's a 5 day gap. Just wait til we are playing every 3 days. And I know we haven't won it before and it's vs bayern etc (this probably deserves a place in the unpopular opinions thread) but any premier league game is much more important imo than the super cup. So its not the rotation that annoys me. Essien arguably deserves to be in the team along with probably 15 others. It's just the worry about United mentality and unnecessary resting of players. We have great depth, that also means that we can get change games in the actual games through use of subs etc. Get the game won then, start thinking about the United game.

Eto would be a temporary option. One that we see us through until lukaku is fully ready. We don't need a long term option.

This is no walkover. People are already talking about resting players for the united game, and imo that is not the attitude to have at all. Sure we have a lot of options and unlike last season we have more depth and its not like we won't have any creativity if we bench both Mata and Hazard. The problem i find with this game is once you get behind and have to catchup, as many people have similar players especially all the big names you have to start making more gamble picks with obscurer players who you hope suddenly find the form of their lives, which invariably leaves you further behind. So for now i will trust my initial picks wait for my 2 free transfers and try and reduce my number of chelsea players ready for when we don't play as otherwise my bench will have to play which consists of defenders for teams who will probably concede and jack colback.

True. But let's not forget we won the first 7 games but not convincingly at all. And in several games we arguably didn't "deserve" the victory. I do agree with your point and one game means nothing and we are definitely in the mix no matter how good city looked. But you have to say that they were exceptional. So were we of course for the first 25 Mins until we took our foot of the gas. Gonna be a good season, it wouldn't be much fun if everything was easy.
