I think if you put Christensen in that City team, he looks a lot better defender. City rarely lose the ball so their CB are less prone to making vulnerable mistakes. Their ball retention is just superb and Pep is more tactically astute now. Dias is brilliant but yhh I think Christensen is very similar player to Stones. But difference is one is at City and one is at us. Their game against Spurs last week, how much times did City even manage to get the ball in City's half let alone have a effort in open play?

That Luton game should not be mentioned. It was Kepa's ridiculous mistake that got them back in the game. But at least he done the least of what was required from him tonight.
-
Dominant performance. First half especially we were excellent. Tuchel is definitely more reserved and likes to protect leads rather than finishing the game off. Only thing that irritated me I guess was that we didnt look to kill them off and knowing this league, it could easily come down to GD. Would of liked to see Pulisic come on and really hurt them on counter attacks. Kovacic was top class. Can't believe he did not get a mention from the pundits. He ran the show tonight. Alonso was really good.

That was a dominant first half performance I have been waiting to see. Although we were dominant against Burnley and Spurs, the performance today is just top class. Dominating possession as well as looking brilliant offensively. Kovacic has ran the show literally. One of the must underrated players in our team. So much class. CHO is ripping them apart. He has messed up a couple times with his end product but other than that he is looking really good. Newcastle don't know how to deal with him. And Werner scoring. Relieved for him as his performance deserves that. Might go down as his assist but either way if he can get into double figures for goals and assists (which is very realistic with the chances he creates also), he will actually have had quite a stellar season. Get that third goal wrapped up quickly please.

Wasn't a fan of playing the 3 at the back in this game and wanted us to go 4-2-3-1 as thought it would suit our attacking players. Yeah really wish Tuchel switches the formation sometimes because the lack of attacking fluidity just isn't there.
-
It has worked in a sense of providing more defensive solidarity and getting best out of WB and general play yes, but do I think the attack can be more fluid? Yes. If we are playing a much weaker time like Barnsley, we shouldnt be shoe horning players in a formation just for sake of it and I am sure Tuchel is known for tactical variations anyway, so I am sure he would have worked on different formations.
-
I will be quite pissed if we go 3 at the back. Don't think we need three CB. Should go for 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. to see all the attacking players playing in their best positions. I am hoping for 4-2-3-1. Kepa, James, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson, Gilmour, Kante, Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic/CHO, Abraham.

I was worried when I saw Christensen in the lineup against Sheffield United, knowing they are quite physical, but I thought he was very good today. Dealt with everything his way. Hence voted him MOTM.

It is exciting to have all these amount of players in disposal and very exciting but my only concern is with all the attackers we have, is that there is never that consistency, because of the huge chopping and changing. It is good to have depth in the squad with all the turnaround in fixtures, but we literally have so many attacking players at disposal. I assume Pulisic has picked up another injury, but it is not even that ludicrous to suggest that even with the 9 man bench rule allowed, we just have far took many players and players sometimes won't make the matchday squad....

Fantastic. I was devastated to see everything gone. Especially as sometimes, I like to go back to old posts to see what I have written. For instance writing articles on youth players to see them feature in the first team etc. Love memories. Thank you 😎

I disagree. I mean if we made him our no.1 target, I think he would very much consider it. Yes Leicester are only 1 point off the league, may be 4 by end of this evening, however he has to look at it long term wise. Who is able to attract better players and keep hold of their best players? Us or Leicester? Us. Leicester lost Chilwell last season and even if they get in the UCL, there is always a risk that their best players can get lured by better clubs. Although he ended up committing to Leicester last season, when Arsenal sacked Emery he was linked with the role and he did not rule it out completely initially. Despite a poor run, we are still not far of the top 4 at all and it still can end up being a very successful season. It is not as if he is walking into a team where there is no aspirations ahead. I definitely think it would cross his mind. Does he think he has a better chance of earning silverware with us or Leicester realistically. Also we are already in UCL. I doubt it happens but if we did make a move, I think he definitely would consider it. He also has worked here before and this job would be a lot more tempting than the Arsenal one.

Only positive to come out of today. Another very good outing. Goal capped up a good performance for him. He really deserves to be given more of a run in in the team.
-
We started so brightly as well then one goal conceded and we totally collapse. Really really depressing to see. Even when other teams have other players inured we are the gift that keeps on gifting.
-
Ziyech, Pulisic, Werner was what everyone was waiting to see and finally we get that! I think it is good to play Werner CF due to City's high line.
-
Mount after the Leeds game was being discussed as such an important player and first name on the sheet. Few weeks later, people have turned their back on him and giving him stick. James had a rare bad game Saturday now watch if he has a average next game. Suddenly: "overrated", "we got too caught in the hype". This I think is CHO first league start of the season and he showed progress. Likes of Havertz have got longer stints in the team and have not performed that well albeit think he will come well. CHO deserves a run bit due to the depth, he is not being given that due to the strength in depth we have.
-
Villa without two key players in Mings and Barkley and we succumb to a 1-1 draw. Just not good enough.
-
Game isn't done yet...
-
Might mean our game with City is postponed.
-
It is about keeping the team fresh. Giroud will start this one I am 100% sure. Especially as he hasn't participated in our last 2 games now. It is a 48 hour turnaround so Abraham will start from the bench. CHO on the other side and possibly Pulisic but whether Lamps feels he is able to start a game within 48 hours after playing the full 90 against Arsenal remains to be seen. Think Werner will be a sub.
-
Might not solve it alone but issue is we get completely bullied sometimes and at least with Rice he offers that physical protection. Some of our midfield, it is too easy to knock them off the ball. And I think when we have not implemented that style of quick, pressing football then you need some form of physicality to help. United for instance are above us with a game in hand, but what I think helps them even when they are playing shit is that they don't necessarily get rolled over because they outmuscle opponents physically. The players we have in midfield are very lightweight and players who would look well in a Guardiola team but they aren't able to perform the quick, pressing way for us.
-
Only because he seems to be Lamps/Chelsea's number one target. But any player who has a bit of physical presence in midfield and can pass would help. Rice, Ndidi... Our midfield is way too lightweight and they have not yet got the cohesion to play quick, pressing football.
-
Lamps decisions just were really baffling when you think about it. Amount of crosses we put in that second half and he did not bring on Giroud who is great in the air. Just mind boggling. Although we have a decent midfield on paper, I think the lack of physicality presence is evident and the need for a physical and technical player such as Declan Rice is clear. When we play the so called better teams who have a combination of technical and physical ability, we come unstuck. Pogba when he came on against us earlier in season was running the show because no one was able to deal with his skill and physicality. Xhaka today, the press was non existent and he looked all of a sudden a good player. I think it is the reason we struggle, especially away from home against any decent opposition. To constantly batter teams without a physical midfield, you need to move the ball quick and press efficiently, similar to how City have done in recent years under Pep, however our pressing style is non-existent. Happy we have a quickfire game coming round, albeit preferred it to have been Tuesday or Wednesday, however a whole week without football would have been too frustrating to bare. Hopefully we beat Villa and make some kind of amendment for yesterday's shocker.
-
Absolutely pathetic. Every single player should hang their heads in shame. I will excuse Hudson-Odoi as he was fantastic when he came on. Also to a lesser extent I will also excuse Mount and Pulisic as they were always trying to make things happen and actually put in effort. Funny how so much of us saw this coming. Even with a depleted Arsenal team I was worried because all the pressure was taken of them. Embarrassing. The one team I hate losing to and there was no excuse to lose this game. Lost for words. Not excusing Werner but let’s face it even when we went off we still looked clueless.
-
Werner has bene poor but I really do hope next time he plays it is from the CF position.
-
Almost in the script... embarrassing.
