ah.... finally. gonna watch a chelsea game(completely) for the first time since west ham away at the start of the month. worried about this though. dodgy form all month. sunderland win aside, there isn't a noteworthy performance to speak of. also Lampard- Ramires in the pivot against possibly 3 men in the Villa midfied. On the plus side, Hazard and Mata will have space to navigate tomorrow. Hope Fernando continues his mini-resurgence
-
yeah but we might be able to support his wages for 6 months. good option if we get him on a 6 month loan in January. fresh option in attack. no money spent. good enough for top 4 finish. david villa maybe a tad old but he's still got his shooting boots on. could finish the chances created by our playmakers
-
i think Jelavic is better than Torres. stats aside, how many times have we seen torres run at the defenders and lose the ball? how many times have we seen the playmakers put the ball in to see Torres fail to attack it? Jelavic is an instinctive striker who lurks on the shoulder of the defenders and ALWAYS attacks the ball when crossed. we need a better striker but i don't necessarily agree with those saying we need it in January. the summer , when we have a permanent manager, is the best time to rebuild the squad according to the manager's plans and not Gourlay's, Emenalo's or Roman's
-
another point to add to that. fergie stations young/evra on the left and valencia/rafael on the right. all 4 (rafael - borderline) are brilliant crossers of the ball. united create late pressure by spreading the play wide and putting it into the box where one of the strikers stick it away. even we resort to long balls and set-piece pressure late on in a desperate attempt to put the ball in but we have next to nothing in terms of aerial power or presence upfront.

older players. the next few signings should be in the 24-28 age bracket imo. players with PL experience wouldn't hurt.
-
he's actually complementing them
-
do you know what FFP even is? owner's money is quite immaterial. we need to break even without roman's backpocket Football clubs wishing to take part in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League must balance their football-related expenditure over a three-year period up to the 2014–15 season
-
Take Cole, Terry and Lampard out and we haven't got much in terms of Premier ship experience. also, remember our start to the season? 1 loss to Clattenburg's ManUre and we never recovered. this side needs leaders on the pitch. enough with the under-23 revolution and go out and sign players in the 24-28 year old bracket

not in January. not for 48million. as i've repeated myself several times in this thread, it is not economically plausible also, if we get falcao - no midfielder or replacement for sturridge because it would cost further more. i'd wait till the summer before thinking of Falcao or Cavani
-
nah. Falcao is borderline impossible in January. 48mil? no way signing 2-3 cheaper players like Walcott etc. are enough to complete our season objective - TOP 4 FINISH.
-
i think his price will go down. contract ends in 2014 and i think this summer he'll be available for a lot less walcott and another backup striker now moutinho and coentrao in the summer and jose in the dugout. perfect.
-
racism issues as well. maybe we can put in a cheeky bid for him
-
meh. can't be bothered to watch this. hopefully a routine win to get us back on track. marin and oscar better start!
-
well the price for Falcao is just absurdly inflated. can't afford him. would rather make 3 signings to freshen up mid and atttack rather than one Falcao in January
-
impossible. 47 mil is ridiculous money. i'd say let's wait till the summer to get a proper manager and then sign players he wants. also, money-wise its absurd to go ahead and sign falcao. read my previous post. plus, signings like ba, walcott and maybe a midfielder will be enough this january to secure our season objective - Top 4 finish the squad has serious problems but i'd wait till the summer for Pep/Jose/Klopp or whoever it is that takes charge here and sign players that the manager wants and not the board or the directors. as of now, we have a bunch of talented individuals whose attacking policy is give the ball to the 3 amigos and we'll see if something comes of it. in january, if we can add a bit of depth and freshness to our attack to give us an option of switching to a 4-4-2 in games where our plans are not working, that'd be more than enough. sign bargain backups----top 4----rafa out----pep in----rebuild
-
excellent point but Falcao is an almost impossible signing at 48mil.. we are not going to get 60m Champions League bounty and we have turned over a profit for the first time in a while. (1.2mil) and for those saying we'll get money from Europa league, note this. Atletico Madrid got 10.5 million euros for winning Europa League. that's not even the winnings of CL group stages. simply put, Falcao is a no-go. atleast not at 48million
-
Ideally i hope we get - Demba Ba or Klaas Jan Huntelaar for backup - Theo Walcott to replace Danny - Fellaini
-
oh even Cahill is suspended, There goes the Luiz to pivot experiment out of the window. it's Oscar and Lampard in the pivot #worried
-
cahill? what's wrong with cahill?
-
Nah he was saying he had already drawn up the starting eleven last Friday which i think means that those who missed out on the CWC final are being penned down to start this one. Oscar, Marin, Mikel, Azpilicueta etc.
-
I'd give them Torres and gift-wrap Malouda as well. Not looking forward to this. we are knackered at the moment and i think the likes of Marin, Oscar etc who'll start on Wednesday will have Zero idea of a tumultuous cup-tie. Hope the senior players step up and be counted after that poor performance in Japan
