my point is that we can't vilify cahill and defend luiz, especially not after a game where cahill was solid throughout and luiz made quite a few errors
-
best moment of the game, Oscar getting in Nani's face i bet Nani was stunned about that
-
i hope rdm tells hazard and mata to track back because swansea is a classic counter-attacking team and will look to exploit our lack of width
-
nah. i am not saying cahill is very good either. but there is no excuse to criticising cahill AND defending luiz. and just to clarify, decision making is pretty obvious but tackling - my basic criteria is the large number of mistimed tackles by luiz. also, if u looked at the game last night, cahill was excellent in tackling while luiz conceded lot of fouls and got a yellow card as well late on. "Not the first time you try to make your opinion look like a fact" - let's just say its the kettle calling the pot black. anyway, agree to disagree. edit - Fouls this season - Luiz - 10; Cahill - 2 no. of times dribbled by opposing player - Luiz - 5; Cahill - 1 but luiz interceptions are much higher - 16 to cahill's 5. that shows the difference b/w the two Luiz has played 8 games while Cahill has played 6
-
true. agree abt the positioning part. cahill gets his positioning wrong here and other times in the match but this is just 2 stills in the game. luiz was equally palpable in the weekend defeat. notice luiz's position here for example. he is standing wider than cahill is. and when the midfield is bypassed we are cut open. cahill should have marked rvp no doubt but there is another instance in the game in the weekend AND yesterday where Luiz goes into a very deep "shot-Blocking" position. that is just nonsense imo. we are not in the Nou Camp anymore to make a line and block the shots. sorry, but i find your criticism of Cahill and your defense of Luiz lacking in reason
-
your argument lacks substance. your criticism of cahill is his positioning and he does nothing "special". ridiculous. cahill was not to blame in the 2nd united goal or any of united's goals yesterday while luiz was clearly to blame for the 2nd and 3rd goals. you accuse us of branding luiz when you do the same to Cahill. you are ignoring the many aspects where cahill is better than Luiz - decision making, tackling etc and focussing on few points and calling luiz a better defender than cahill. makes no sense to me
-
thank you. was quite surprised by that. hence the skepticism
-
no way. we had 4 cleansheets but against Wigan (where we were battered for 75 minutes), QPR, Stoke and Newcastle (only performance to take credit for) apart from that we have been shocking but i agree with the other part. its a team-issue. we are not recovering our defensive shape quickly enough. Notice how the fullbacks are rushing to get back to the defensive line and how the midfield is distorted leaving wide empty spaces http://www.carefreec...uiz-og-and.html - credit to carefree chronicles
-
agree.. he was bashed on twitter as far as i know but i don't think it was deserved criticism. true, he was up against a bunch of schoolboys but fletcher and anderson were basically playing as CB's and he had virtually no support in the first half. held the ball well and spread the play around better than torres. 50/56 passes completed is brilliant (citation needed) and latched onto more than 1 long ball.
-
while conveniently ignoring the fact that luiz was sidetracked like a headless chicken in the build-up to that goal... yes, cahill has made basic errors too but no excuse to vilify cahill and defend Luiz. Luiz has been MUCH worse than Cahill any way you look at it. "Despite Luiz mistakes" - how many more mistakes can we watch him make? almost 2 years since he signed now. he's regarded as first-choice by RDM. no where near being a top defender
-
that makes no sense. cahill was left for dead. he's not a super human to judge where chicharito is gonna run, cover him and cut out the pass. Luiz had a stinker. Period. People need to stop excusing Luiz for his mistakes. 2 years after signing on, you can't excuse elementary errors. classic example - rushing out from his defence line at the attacker - he did that 4-5 times during the game and won the ball just once - when Welbeck showed too much of the ball to Luiz. also, the nani goal was too easy for united. luiz and bertrand exploited with luiz chasing shadows again.he made 4-5 long passes yesterday and as far as i remember 1 went out for a throw in, 2 of them went to a red shirt with no chelsea player in sight. don't think any of the passes were completed. on top of that, he rushed out of defence again and got caught out. it has happened in 3 games this season. can't ignore the fact that luiz is ticking time bomb cahill was solid yesterday. the best performer in defence hands down. Excellent tackle on Nani towards the end reminiscent of his tackle on Bale last season. capped his performance
-
we're gonna win it 9-8 against Arsenal. League cup love!
-
just the 9 goals tonight then.
-
No point discussing how good he is defensively if he keeps making silly mistakes. 2 freakin years have passed and he's still committing school-boy errors. absolutely ridiculous
-
ridiculous from luiz again. and cahill cut open at the back. what a soft goal to concede.
-
luizz himself has admitted that his role in the team is to be the joker in the team. not the leader of the team. the players won't take him seriously and have you seen luiz try to defuse a situation during a game? no because he gets carried away with his actions on the pitch. classic example - van persie against manu,. plus, he doesn't speak english fluently. the only point people are attributing to luiz is passion while completely ignoring the other points.
-
http://www.carefreechronicles.com/2012/10/pointing-fingers-goals-from-luiz-og-and.html not sure if posted already but that's an analysis of united's first-half goals. doesn't tell the whole story about our defence but analyses what went wrong in the 2 early goals conceded
-
Disagree with that. I agree with the part where the public bashes Luiz but that's no reason to say he's a good defender. the reason for the public bashing on luiz is that his mistakes are obvious to the naked eye. i don't agree with the public opinion of luiz but i certainly don't agree that he is a great defender. looking at luiz objectively, he improved considerably at the back end of last season and had continued in the same way this season but he has made a fair few mistakes this season. weird tendecies to play Hollywood passes and also to drop very deep to a "blocking" position. you can't say he is a good defender based on the fact that RDM prefers Luiz or that the public marks him. as @CHOULO19, mentioned, Cahill's mistakes are less apparent. cahill is often caught on the counter and also has the tendency to back away as in the case of the first United goal where he didnt dare challenge Young for the ball. what we have to accept is that our defenders are no beasts. they are nowhere near the best in the world. Luiz has a better potential but it has been around 2 years since he arrived and he still doesn't look reliable. you can't make a case for Luiz being better than Cahill or that he will turn into a world class defender. both luiz and cahill are Good defenders but i fully expect the club to sign a new CB once Terry hangs up his boots

Chelsea lodge complaint about Clattenberg
Strike replied to bababoom's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
f*****g hate how all the reports read "Chelsea claim" "Chelsea allege" etc. did anyone read a report where it read - "Anton claims"? no, they dived straight into Terry last time and vilified him -
TorontoChelsea seems to be a popular choice, so I will go for Muzchap
-
terry can't handle the pace of di santo now. let alone rooney, tevez etc. tactically he is the best but his physical limitations are overwhelming now cahill's tactical errors could also be a result of shortened gametime. he hasn't played much .. only 4 games in the league. i would go for cahill-terry rather than luiz-terry
-
true. Cahill is not a beast of a defender but sadly he's the best in the squad right now. terry is getting old and his movement has reduced considerably while luiz gets flustered when the heat is on him. goes braindead. it's happened far too many times now. every time we think he'll improve and he plays a few good games against qpr, stoke etc but then when we face mancity, arsenal or manunited again, he is bypassed easily. cahill's errors on the other hand are not closing his attacker down. he is easily turned and doesn't have good organisation and positioning like JT. but he is the better defender among the 3. quick, calm, strong(ish) and reliable
-
nah. they don't work well together is what i meant. one goes after the ball (luiz) and cahill prefers backing away. i mean they look disoriented in defence
-
poor game in the second half but it was always everton doing something with the ball not liverpool. shame mirallas had to come off.
-
nah. hazard played in a low fizzing cross and yet he didn't have anybody in support. plus mata, oscar have excellent control of the ball eventhough their aerial ability is next to null. we need to pressurise the opposition defence more. otherwise we did everything else well yesterday - attack i mean
