Not defending him here but as much as Benitez has his own failings and problem here, one cannot overlook the fact that the board allowed us to go into the season with such a poor squad that lack depth. Get 1-2 injuries and/or suspensions and the squad will suddenly become threadbare, similar to what is happening now. Easy to sit down here and say, on hindsight, that RDM or whichever manager would be doing a better job. Give any manager with the squad we have now and they would mostly struggle with it. As said, the squad lacks depth and is unbalanced.

Hazard was just interviewed on Chelsea TV. Said he thought he had kicked the ball and not the boy. He apologized and the ballboy has done the same. Said it's over. And he looked pretty devastated while explaining the incident.

He capped off his 2 blunders in the first leg by playing hopeless Luiz-esque long balls forward.

Swansea were hardly impressive in the tie especially in 1st leg but the 2-goal advantage gave them the platform for tonight's performance. We will never get a better chance to win the League Cup! Form in last 7 games - LWLWDWD. Consistently inconsistent. No back-to-back wins since 30th December 2012 - defeated Norwich & Everton.

Oh gawd. Petulant behavior by Hazard. Likely to serve a 3-match ban(possibly more) now. Squad already thin enough as it is and with players being overplayed recently, this was the last thing we needed!

Players do tend to do that, even if they are not aggressive by nature. And as I said, perhaps given the uncertainty and anxiety created in this game because of our recent home form resulted in him doing that. Don't see much wrong with him doing TBH, just as long as he doesn't go do that like every time!

Not to say we are completely far off or anything but bringing us back to the summit of English football and building a team filled with talented players would surely represent some form of challenge that any manager would like(assuming Roman stays patient), no?
