You guys, I need some help. I've been invited to go out on Tuesday night by some very close friends of mine. I've got no reason to turn them down, as Wednesday is a public holiday (the game will be played Wednesday morning Aussie time), so they'll be really, really disappointed if I tell them I'm ditching them for 'soccer'. I can't make them understand the importance of the event, and I won't be able to get home by the time the match starts, either. What do I do? How can I tell them I don't want to come? I'm considering chucking a sickie, but that will be damn hard to pull off as one of them lives 2 houses away from me.

Nah. He hasn't run 42km yet in a game. Drogba, meanwhile would have been either a brilliant sprinter in cycling with his current muscle mass or a great climber if he lost some weight.
-
Harsh on Torres. Besides, the man in my avatar has a knack of scoring vital goals, or so I'm told
-
Drogba won't play. Sad, he deserves a final battering of Arsenal to end his Chelsea career. Mind, he'll be 100% for Barcelona. Even if this injury is real and not mind games, Drogba has the willpower to ignore everything his body is telling him. He would have made a brilliant cyclist, if he was about 40 kilos lighter.

Steve's grandad was the 5000th member some 3 weeks ago. So thats 166/21= roughly 8 per day. We'll hit 10k in around a year at that rate

They have a piss poor defence these days what with injury taking its toll and all. We should score 1, then we have that vital 2 goal buffer to shut them out a la Inter 2010.

This is Didier Drogba. The man who played a World Cup with a broken arm and several seasons with fucked hernias. Sheer willpower will get him through it, as always.

I think we have slightly better depth than Barcelona, our players may be light years away from them but there's not too far a drop in quality from starter to substitute. With Barcelona there seems to be a pretty large drop.

Anyway to get this thread back on topic, I want to get out of the 1300's in terms of post count ASAP. Before Wednesday morning at the very latest.

It was at night, I don't think there's anywhere in Australia where you have weeklong runs where the maximum temperature is less than 0.
-
We'll not come across "The Dutch" unless we want to go skiing The coldest I can remember here (in the western suburbs of Sydney) was last winter where we had a run of 0 to -3 degrees for about a week. I would imagine its much colder than that in the outback and the states of South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania; and the Snowy Mountains.

I shudder in fear at what that could mean

Forgot to mention him :P/:Goober:

It didn't really bother me. We've seen that from him before, and there are many other players around the world who do the same thing. Faking injury is not as big a problem as stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgfRCa71Kmw

At least in 3 of those incidents he was in genuine pain. 2 involved the testicles and all bets are off in that area. He also fell about 8 feet and landed on his hip, thats got to hurt.

Since when has playing at home been equated with finishing chances? That's not a given. They could turn up and be rubbish again, they lack natural finishers now that Villa's out for the season.
-
What can't he do? Score, assist, bully, defend, and timewaste!
-
Lukaku can be a good player, a very good player, but he'll never be Drogba. One of the great strikers of his era, and I think he will never be surpassed as the best African striker of all time (with apologies to Samuel Eto'o).
-
Hahaha, I thought you lived in Coventry not Siberia Anyway to put in context, 10 degrees is bitter chill by Aussie standards. Unless you live in the mountains, outback (Spike I'm looking at you ) or far southern states.

Only 72 days until he becomes a free agent. I can't take it anymore . Please, one more year Didier! Anyway, I love it when we're hated by other clubs, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest if Drogba chooses to spend 89 minutes a game on the grass- and uses the other minute to score.

Hasselbaink-Drogba-Lukaku?

Fans of all the teams who desperately do not want to see us get through- in particular Liverpool, United and Arsenal are much, much worse. Barcelona fans are gentlemen compared to them. Arsenal I can understand but we have little to no traditional rivalry with the others, just mutual hatred between the fans. It's fear on the part of the Scousers (they don't want to admit that they are the sole laughingstock of England- they want to include us), and envy on the part of the Mancs. I did, I said he was great with his team selection. Don't get me wrong, I have really taken to the idea of Di Matteo as manager.

Well said. We can't afford to let it be 10 attackers v 10 defenders like what Inter did in 2009, we'll definitely concede. We have to have something at the other end for them to think about and at least leave 2-3 back. Drogba/Sturridge or Drogba/Torres would do just that.

His right arm is twice the size of his left. must have done it
