I think you should at least bring it to an apple store or repair centre and at least ask if it is fixable and at what cost to see if it is worth the money fixing it or buying a new one

Lloyd I hade the exact same problem with mine it was because I accidently pulled it out while it was syncing and that corrupted the hardrive on it. So I went and brought it back to where I had bought it (thankfully it was still under warrenty). They took it from me and told me that they would have to send it to the supplier and it would take about a week, the problem was I was going on holiday in a few days, so I gave it to them anyway. 3 weeks later I came back from my holiday and went to collect it, they gave me the same box i had given them but a brand new ipod inside! So I probably suggest you should bring it back to where you bought it
