  1. And his missed header cost them a place in the final. You cannot put Villa and bojan in the same category, Bojan doesnt have half the experience of Villa and imo hasnt shown anything to suggest he will be a better player. If he really is so good then why doesnt he start for Barcelona ahead of Pedro or Ibrahimovic who are both nowhere near as good as Villa?
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Aguero Accordingly to Wiki, he sigined for us for 40mil, last time a website screwed up and said we had signed a player when we had not was Robinho, and we all know how that ended! Ironically they gave him the number 7 shirt too.
  3. I personally think Ballack has been good this season, he is getting on a bit but he is still class and has bags of experience, would like to see him stay and be used a bit less. Should he leave my replacement would be Schweinstieger. Should Deco leave I would replace him with Van Der Vaart or Gourcuff. And would Replce Joe Cole with Aguero should he leave.
  4. So basically we can have 17 players from where ever of what ever age as lond as 8 are home grown? Even if all home grown players are over 21?
  5. Is there even room for him in the side? Where would he play?
  6. As far as I understand the laws, it only applies to the Champions League and of the players I have mentioned, 11 are home grown players, so we would be well over the requirement.
  7. I agree with this philosophy, however it cannot always be applied, it depends on the clubs circumstances. If Drogba or Anelka were to leave at the end of this season then I feel we would need to replace them with someone like David Villa, if they dont then we would simply be adding quality the squad and then it would be great to bring in a young player.
  8. I would have a 27 man squad including of 4 Goalkeepers, 9 Defenders, 7 Midfielders, 7 Attackers: GK: Cech, Turnbull, Delac/Sebek, (Would replace Hilario with Asenjo or an experienced goalkeeper) DF: Terry, Alex, Ivanovic, Bosingwa, A. Cole, Zhirkov, Ferreira, Bruma, Mancienne MD: Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Mikel, Matic, Kakuta, (Would replace Deco with Vd Vaart or Gourcuff) ATT: Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, J.Cole, Sturridge, Stoch (If one of these players leave would replace with Aguero, Villa or Pato) OUT: Belletti, Deco, Hilario, Carvalho, Sinclair, Di Santo (Raise money from these players to buy Vd Vaart or Gourcuff) Would also consider Maicon or Alves if we were to sell Bosingwa for a good price.
  9. On top of the possibility of winning the league and cup double and being our greatest ever season, lets also not forget the youngsters in the youth cup final too
  10. We cannot keep comparing every player above 28 to Sheva, it is simply ignorant to think like that. Sheva was a mistake, but I do not believe age was the main factor, Drogba is 32 and he is fine, Anelka is 31 and he too is fine, so why wouldnt Villa at 29 be fine?
  11. Regardless of how old Villa is, he is batter than both, and he has consistently proven he can score goals by scoring 20 or more per season in la liga for the last five years. In my opinion he is the best striker in the world alongside Samuel Eto'o and Drogba, would be a massive aquisition and would definatly improve our current squad and attacking options and would make a serious statement of intent if we want to win the champions league
  12. Chelsea are twice the side with him in it, our biggest player imo, imagine where we would be if he was fit
  13. If Chelsea are an "average side" Mr Hansen, then what does that make your beloved Liverpool? Perhaps you should shut up and worry about your own club you prick
  14. I still reckon Utd will drop points in their last three games
  15. Very nice kit, I see the ones they sell one the megastore to the fans arent as tight around the arms, also the shorts dont have a red trim at the bottom.
  16. Always regarded him as the best left back in the world and vital to our side. Noone comes close to Ash at left back.
  17. Not over til its over, still 8 games to go, Utd and Arsenal will both drop points between now and then, its up to us to take advantage.
  18. While it pains me to say this, having thought about it long and hard, im am coming to the conclusion that perhaps it is Didier Drogba who is the problem! Undoubtedly, he is one of the very best in the world, he scores many goals, but, his moods seem to have a massive influence over the Chelsea side. When he is in the mood, we all know what he is capable of, but when he is not my word is he frustrating to watch. With him in the side I feel like we are too one dimensional, and I believe this counts against us a lot. Beside the fact that he spends half the game on his arse, I think he hampers our ability to play more attractive, goal scoring football. Yes he does get back and defend a lot and I am not for once questioning his commitment to Chelsea, afterall he is and always will be a Chelsea legend. But if we really want to up there with the likes of Barcelona then we will need a player of a different mould upfront, one who does not have the same sort of influence over the squad and mood of the team.
  19. To be fair to Carlo, he haqs been missing our most crucial player in my opinion for half the season in Essien. I would love to see how well Utd would be doing if their most important player, Rooney, was out for the same period of time.
  20. I agee that perhaps lamps should be rotated a bit more next season because he is maybe getting on a bit (try tellin him that) but I dont see why Di Maria would be a clever signing. He is very talented make no mistake, but we already have so much depth and quality on the left side of midfield that I would prefer we invested in someone who can strenghten the right
  21. Wouldnt change too much really, afterall its still been a pretty good season, yes we were poor against Inter but we had important players injured and they had none, doesnt make us a bad side. As many have said before I do think we need to freshen up the squad a bit and here is what I would do: Out: (6) Hilario Ferreira Belletti Deco J. Cole Kalou In: (4) Sergio Asenjo/Hugo Lloris Maicon Ribery Aguero Squad for 2010/2011 (28) GK: Cech, Asenjo/Lloris, Turnbull, Taylor DF: Maicon, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Carvalho, A. Cole, Zhirkov, Mancienne, Bruma MD: Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Ballack, Malouda, Ribery, Stoch, Kakuta, Matic ST: Drogba, Anelka, Aguero, Sturridge, Borini Other interesting younsters worth looking at: Rodwell, Dzagoev, Pjanic
  22. I whole heartedly agree with you, I dont think people realise how important players like Ballack and Mikel for example are and what they do on the filed that people dont recognise that influences a game. How many clever fouls has Ballack given away when the opposition is counter attacking to break up their play? On th epoint of Sheva, I just think we all need to let it go, if we carry going back to him every time a 30 - 40 million potential signing come up then we will never sign anyone.
  23. Well thats my point, why do they have to be young? We already have young players why the desire for it?
  24. Why is it that we all have this burning desire to bring a young superstar to the club? People talk of Aguero and Pato and how amazing it would be to sign these players. I can see why, they have exceptional talent. But to me it feels the main reason people want these guys so deserately is their age. Why is this? Particularily that they are strikers? Looking at our current crop of forwards, Drogba 31, Anelka 30, Kalou 24, Di Santo, Sturridge and Stoch are all 20 and Borini and Kakuta are both 18. It seems to me as though we have an abundance of youth at our disposal. So why are we craving someone like Aguero 21 or Pato 20 or Hamsik 22 or even Dzagoev 19 and not so much a slightly older, more experienced player like Ribery or Villa? Actually looking at it, Villa who is 28 and Ribery who is 26 would give us great balance in my opinion. As one prolific striker retires and has two or three years left to take up the mantle and then pass it onto the next. what would happen if we only invested in these youngsters? surely some would need to be sold instead of nurtured and moulded?
