  1. Why not scout talented wingers who we lack? We always focus on defensive players, and young central defenders we have...
  2. People need to stay polite... the meaning of politeness is long gone in the mind of, how do you call them... chavs? Be critical but stay polite... fuck me how stupid some people are.
  3. I'm not a fan of zonal marking, hopefully it will be an efficient mix of man-to-man and zonal, because biggest threats need to be marked tightly all the time.
  4. Watching the pictures, the zone where Terry was in and the backpost zone in general was lightly marked. I'm surprised to see not one, but two players stayed unmarked and this was the zone from where Boyata finally scored... with him included, there were 3 unmarked players, while Ramires, Lampard, Meireles, Drogba and Bosingwa didn't seem to be marking anyone in particular, while Luiz and Terry obviously were. It does seem like a rather poor mix between man and zonal marking, at least in that situation.
  5. Anyone who is interested in how Apple and Microsoft started and the roots of Jobs vs. Gates feud, should watch the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley"
  6. Every urban person who says something against corporations is hypocritical, because we use their products/services even if we don't realize it It's down due to the fact that we can no more live without it. People have (somewhat) accepted the pros and cons brought by megacompanies and capitalism. I personally am surrounded by corporate gizmos that make my quality of life better, yet every single one of those companies have skeletons in their closets... if we started boycotting this stuff, we wouldn't survive for long That's the reality of modern world and so is hypocrisi.
  7. I will never understand why footballers and managers grab eachother's asses, Džeko especially looked as if he was searching for Lahm's butthole
  8. Are you being serious? Does the "old guard" include Malouda, Kalou and Anelka? Starting line-up against Bolton included Meireles, Mata, Sturridge and Luiz who you can hardly call "old guard". Only one missing was Torres, and there is nothing to suggest we wouldn't have scored more or less with him playing against a poor Bolton side. Has this speculation risen only because Drogba played his first 90 minutes and suddenly we had a comfortable win? We had a comfortable win because their goalkeeper sucked and because of Sturridge's and Mata's brilliance (2 assists, 2 goals, key pass and fantastic movement by Mata to Sturridge, when Danny found Lamps... take them away, replace them with the "old guard benchies" and Lampard wouldn't have scored one goal and 2 goals would go missing). You could speculate over Torres, but why name Mata and Meireles? They've been fantastic so far and played a chunk against Bolton, and Torres has looked sharper than Drogba did. Obsolete is too strong of a word, how dare anyone call Mata obsolete, the most creative player in the team so far.
  9. Bridge of Stamford, Stamford Stadium/Arena, Stamford Lane, Chelsea Stadium/Arena, The Roman Arena (era ) would we be even allowed to use the name 'Stamford' or the word 'Bridge'?
  10. Luiz is a very good defender and an accomplished one may I add. I don't understand why people expect perfection all the time from him, hardly any defender is better at covering than him I feel... and he still feels like a new signing to me, in a season, or maybe this season already, he will be a starter. He reminds me of Carvalho, but has more potential imo. He is probably the most exciting player to watch play in defence, I mean did you see when he overlapped he did oversteps? Or his overhead cross against ManU if I remember correctly. Last time I remember a Chelsea player showboating was Ferreira against Kitchee I have never thought he'd be more suited as a full-back or a defensive mid. Terry makes mistakes and gets caught quite often yet it hardly gets noticed, and he used to be a midfielder and a full-back... he started playing as a defender by chance. Luiz was a mid also and he was finally suited in CB and it is the position in which people call him world class. Now cut it out, it's getting old. People seem to rate Cahill more as a defender, which is a joke imo.
  11. I actually wanted Danny to be a bit selfish because I really wanted him and Lampsy to get hattricks a piece, but his shots were bad unluckily. When he got the pass from Drogs in the box I already shouted "GOAL!", but it skipped wide... those kind of mistakes serve well for a youngster, he gets the chance to learn from it The ability is there, experience will come.
  12. Yeah, Lampard said it himself he never starts a season with all guns blazing. He may have 10 games without scoring and it all looks hopeless, then he gets the odd goal and things go on from there. If he gets 12-15 this season, it will be an amazing achievement taking into consideration that he will definitely sit out more games than before. But if he gets 20+ again, then I will have no hesitation calling him superhuman... I already consider him the best Chelsea midfielder of all time and one of the best, if not the best EPL mid of all time, and 20+ again would set the standard hopelessly high for others and I hope he does it.
  13. I overlooked Lampard last time over Čech, this time with 3 goals and an excellent performance I have no choice but to vote for him.
  14. So their last decent player injured... except the overrated Van Persie, but it won't take long before Arsenal will consist 60% of benchies and reservies.
  15. I'm starting 2-1der, when are these Arsenal jokes gonna stop?
  16. Mertesacker doesn't look like a good addition, perhaps only temporarily
  17. If you ever expect Lampard to score anywhere, it's the Reebok Stadium He absolutely loves tormenting that place, the 2nd home of Chelsea.
  18. And it was his 5th hattrick if I'm not mistaken. How many midfielders have actually done that in EPL?
  19. Tabloid junk must feel so embarassed now... Frank isn't the type of guy who will sulk and cry over petty shit media accused him of. He is the kind of guy who talks on the pitch, and his response in footballing terms has been equal to his rant in LBC radio (if you lot remember that). We owe some gratitude to them actually I feel Maybe without their shitstorm Lampsy wouldn't have tried so hard to shut them up... who knows.
  20. I thought AVB made all the right subs today... Ivanovic for Bosingwa was a bit unexpected since we haven't seen him do it before, but it was a very welcome sub in my eyes and it paid off imo. Many managers are reluctant to change the defensive line, but AVB clearly has the balls to take off weak links no matter which line. As Bolton started whipping in more long balls and looking for fouls, more aerial power was needed. Mikel for Ramires was a change towards more defensive and physical approach. He provided much needed cover, security and physical presence in defence. As we were leading comfortably, one of Ramires or Meireles deserved a rest. A good sub by AVB. Mata was clearly struggling in this physical game and his touches didn't seem to be as good as in previous games, but shit happens, you can't expect him to be class A every single game. He looked tired as well. I really wanted to see Lukaku get a run, but I was pretty sure it was either Mata or Sturridge going to make way, and as game went on, I was 90% it was going to be Mata going off... And I was hoping Anelka would come on instead of Malouda, and it did happen. I think AVB did everything right today in terms of tactics, team selection and substitutions.
  21. The Bolton goal had nothing to do with us being very attacking. It was a set-piece and it's a 100% defensive situation where attacking isn't on your mind, and we are poor at defending those. I'm still very much waiting for a proper clean sheet. To be fair Bolton actually did score from open play when we were exposed in counter-attack, but Ivanovic cleared off the line, but replays showed it was definitely a goal... our luck that it wasn't counted
  22. Fantastic result Best players for me: Lampard, Sturridge, Luiz, Terry, Cole Unimpressed by (not meaning they were bad): Drogba, Bosingwa, Mata
