  1. Same old, same old. Although AVB isn't helping himself by leaving Torres on the bench.
  2. Nailed-on 1-1 draw, I think! Spurs are always dangerous at home, especially on the counter, but the fact we will be underdogs puts all pressure on them.
  3. Few chances made because of less dynamism on the pitch due to the absence of Ramires, simple.
  4. Some of the posts on here are shameful. Granted its a poor result following a disappointing performance, but frankly I'm embarrassed to call myself a Chelsea fan when I read comments like I've seen this morning. There are some very spoilt fans on this forum! I'm all for everyone having their own opinions don't get me wrong, but some of these AVB-out posts are comedy gold Pathetic.
  5. We're going to end up playing Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona eventually anyway... Napoli don't worry me that much in comparison
  6. Just can't see us bearing any threat with Torres on the pitch... at least Malouda tries to get involved... that was my point.
  7. Trying to play Hendrix is just demoralising... gave that one up a long time ago.
  8. Yeah cos Torres is fucking brilliant, isn't he? You can't judge that on 45 minutes against a team hellbent on defending deep for a draw.
  9. Seriously, all three?! In that case, play Mikel, Oriol, Ferreira... anyone
  10. The difference is Carvalho was world class whereas Luiz barely strikes you as an invincible defender at this moment. However I have great faith he can become a great defensive stalwart for us... Luiz is part of the new breed of centre-backs... forget your Nestas and your Puyols and your Terrys; your no-nonsense, uncompromising style of player. Total football takes precedence and now and Luiz plays how many CBs will soon be expected to.
  11. Cech Bosingwa Ivanovic Luiz Cole Ramires Meireles Lampard Malouda Torres Kalou
  12. Playing Hendrix or playing Premier League football? I've tried both of those (well, a two-week trial doesn't really count) and it didn't work out well. So I stick to Oasis, and 5-a-side respectively.
  13. Got a feeling we're going to see [Mata-Sturridge-Malouda] during January anyway, to be honest.
  14. People going on about the Napoli attack... I'm sure they're shitting playing against Mata, Sturridge, Drogba, Lampard, Ramires and Meireles tbh.
  15. We play Norwich away in the next round.
  16. £50 million is the now going to be the base price after Torres.
  17. Cahill seems to be a very likely deal. I've been hearing McEachran may be heading to Bolton on loan in return. As for Pato and Modric, it strikes me that is the right monetary offer is made, the players will leave. I just hope we can get our business done early in the transfer window.
  18. I have high hopes for Nath and Todd. Both strike me as exceptional young lads.
  19. Mata, for me, is just as effective on the wing as he is centrally. Besides, he 'floats' between the two positions anyway. In that case either a playmaker or a left-winger will do wonders, as Mata can occupy the alternative position. I'd also like to see another striker come in - I'm worried that we're relying on Drogba too much, and when he leaves for the AfCON or even leaves on a permanent basis, frankly, we're fucked. Some defensive cover to replace Alex would also be nice. Basically, a new CF to replace Anelka, a new CB to replace Alex, and then one new addition to the squad; a playmaker or a wideman.
  20. Yes, that is pleasing me also. Soon the core of the squad will shift from Terry and Didier to Romeu, Ramires and Sturridge.
  21. How is that a logical comment? Napoli are unpredictable, but Milan even more-so.
  22. My only criticism of AVB is that he isn't helping himself by dropping Torres. His rotational policy regarding the old bastards is excellent as it inspires greater fitness and competition, but dropping Torres is fool-hardy. We all agree that, at present, Didier is the better, more threatening option, however come January our only forward options will be to play Torres or Lukaku, or Sturridge through the centre, leaving us with only those aforementioned players, Mata and Florent Malouda to lead the attack. Malouda and Lukaku have barely had a look in recently, whilst Torres is ridiculously short on confidence. Either way, when Drogba is absent - either through AfCON responsibilities, injury, or when he eventually leaves/retires - we're left with a relatively uninspiring frontline that has barely changed all season; Mata and Sturridge have no competition for their places (and rightly so, in fairness), and then its one from two regarding el Nino and Drogba. Drogba is a lion and plays from the heart, so you can count on him to fight and scrap, whereas Torres sails on confidence, something he has nothing of at the minute. Drogba doesn't need to be playing the likes of Wigan and Wolves this winter, whereas Torres does. That would be my only concern, he needs to show public backing of the player, and that might just kick-start his career with us. Failing that, he has to be sold in the summer. The next six months are make-or-break for both Nando and the club, and if he doesn't deliver we should cut our losses immediately.
  23. Happy with the draw. In last season's competition we failed against United because of an unchallenging knockout-round tie against Copenhagen, who were, quite frankly, abysmal. We also made light work of a relatively easy group, so by the time we came up against United the writing was on the wall in terms of us coming up against a gladiator of European football. We weren't prepared to face the big boys, but this time round by having a competitive and challenging tie, it can prepare us for whatever opponent we may potentially face in the quarter-finals. Beats playing OL or Milan I guess....
