Put it this way - he is the stop-gap for this season, and will become a great squad player to bring on and break someone's legs at various points next season. Also with Malouda likely to leave, we need a new hairdo icon.

We've started the new year positively, which was the best possible course of action. We have a game against a Championship side that we should destroy, then games against Sunderland and Norwich, which, again, we should win. If we can string those four wins together, we'll be laughing.

The team has to be built around Torres. You don't pay £50 million for a component and then exclude it because it doesn't work well with others. With better passing and movement he can return to a 20 goals-per-season player.

Good post, but you took my post in the Drogba thread completely the wrong way. Probably because you're an idiot. Basically, what I said was people need to stop abusing Lampard and Drogba. Yes, they're old and shit, but let's be a little kinder in our criticisms of them considering what they have done for us in the past. But I do agree that they need to go.

AVB definitely isn't helping himself. I do not want him sacked, because I feel if he is given time to stamp his own style on the team then we could have some long-term success as a result of our short-term mediocrity. However he needs to start mashing things up during games, because we are becoming a very one-dimensional team with a single style of play that is becoming easy to defend against.

New year and a new start for this club. I hope. A scrappy 1-0 win to either side looks the most likely outcome.
