The 'hype' around him was a result of his World Cup. Noone would know him now if he wasn't called up, even in Belgium (normal fans that is, not us football junkies). I'd say his play on the ball is one of his stronger attributes, kinda the opposite of Lukaku tbh. He has yet to play well consistently for Lille though, he has a dry spell at the moment and was recently booed by his own fans after missing a penalty. He's overrated but he has got a lot of potential, he's still in his teens.

No we didn't make the wrong choice in choosing Courtois, and no, Cech won't move to Arsenal. I can think of one goal where he could've done better, virtually all his conceded goals were due to bad defending or unstoppable efforts. As someone mentioned, 34 vs 12 games isn't even a comparison Bit of a non-article imo, no offence.

His finishing might have been horrible in the last weeks but he's still clearly stepped up compared to last season, is dominant and more proactive, and his dribbling has been a class above anyone in Europe. So time to start improving his finishing? Sure, considering everything else he gives to this team I'd say he has time, and lots of it.

The fact Eden was a lot better at his age probably plays a role. Every player's progression curve is different though so that doesn't mean much. I didn't think he'd make it here when we signed him but after his year on loan at Zulte and now at gladbach I'm not so sure.

Completely normal when you look at the teams in our group, only Croatia was a marginal contender. No idea why you include Scotland as an example, they're wank. 90% the same players? Do you even know what you're on about ? Under Advocaat we still had players like Swerts, Bailly, Mudingayi, Buffel, De Sutter, Lamah, Deschacht, Sonck, De Camargo etc getting regular playtime. Under Leekens we had Vossen and Ogunjimi as strikers, Legear as a winger and Simons in midfield, with sporadic stints by up and coming talents like Hazard and Lukaku. Baffles me how you can say they had the same players to use. Another thing you may find suprising: youngsters get better. 2010 Hazard isn't comparable to 2014's. Witsel, Hazard, KDB, Mirallas etc weren't close to the level they are now. Shit ass team with a shit ass manager. Thought it was pretty clear my point was that he had zero experience before getting the job coaching Belgium's up and coming golden generation for some fucked up reason. He hasn't proven himself... nearly 3 years further and still no cohesive team, despite the players improving massively on club level. He's starting to get more and more criticism in Belgium from people who know what they're talking about as well. You seem to focus solely on the results, which have been decent and absolutely normal for a team with a market value of 365 million euros. You could argue he's underachieved.

The players respect him, true. He brings spirit to the team, sure. What about his actual job: putting a cohesive team out there capable of dominating a game, not just the first 20mins? He's tactically inept mate. Not surprising since his only stint as a manager before this was at second division club Sint-Truiden, where he failed miserably. Winning just 2 games in 25 or something. Then a 7 year hiatus and suddenly he's the mastercoach who reaches the quarterfinals at the world cup. Let me tell you something mate, anyone could have done the same. You can't expect the players themselves to sort the team out and play like superstars either, it doesn't work that way unfortunately. They need a coach who does more than letting his players run laps and play games of mini-football. I've said it often and I'll say it again, this generations progress on international level is being stalled because of this man. I pray he gets another club offer soon so we get rid of him and people will see how bad he really is.
