He wouldn't make the mistake of hiring him in the first place. For me Villas-Boas was different because he had won trophies at Porto. Potter has won nothing of note. Maybe a few Swede titles in lower divisions thats about it.

Not impressed with anybody. Also struggling to see where we seen the valuations for the signings of Mudryk and Fernandez, because frankly, both look bang average and no better than what we had in any of those positions previously. Only cost a cool 200m between them too. Its probably going to take a new manager though because it doesn’t matter who plays they all look shite. So there is that. It is mental its 2023 and Loftus-Cheek still making our first 11. That alone should be sufficient evidence that Potter has no fucking clue.
-
Don’t think Boehly & co understand that they all look like fools for backing this guy as long as they have/are willing to. Can’t be serious about this season or next if they want to give Potter time. Like at all. Maybe he will get it right by 2030…..
-
I must admit, I am so exited to see Pulisic play for 45 minutes before sitting on the bench/in the stands again to the end of the season. Where he belongs.
-
Think he's said that the players said pre-season at the beginning of the season was worst they’ve ever had. Never went into specifics but the tour was in the US and organisationally didn't work. I doubt he is but on the odd chance he may be, I really hope he’s not trying to take any shots at Tuchel whose Chelsea record this season is probably almost the same as his despite being sacked in September. Because he’s just setting himself up for even mote criticism.

Would say there is more pressing concerns. But lets further mollycoddle these soft, spineless, half arsing (or certainly look it from their general performances and personality they’ve shown over the last 8-10 months), multi millionaires who already live a highly privileged and comfortable life with a chill out room for when they play shite. Because well, why not? I am actually done with Boehly. He seems to be completely clueless in all regards. It seems he wants to look at everything bar the actual problem. He can put everything and more in place but his refusal to act on the current manager is incredible. Then shit like this seems more and more tin pot, needless shite that has will do nothing - lets get them a Dunkin Donuts at Cobham whilst we are at it? Or a Starbucks? Or have Red Hot Chilli Peppers play there every second week? Fucking clueless.
-
what the fuck has this got to do with Graham Potter in any way shape or form 😂
-
Yep this is being heavily implicated as the main issue and has been for a while, the Athletic have been on about it a few times. I don’t think wages will be a big issue at all once the length of deal is in the ball park of what he’s looking for. He doesn’t strike me as someone who wants to be the highest paid player but just wants a fair wage that reflects his position at the club. In fact the only thing I’ve seen re wages is he wants a higher base salary meaning less incentives/add ons so more money upfront but it didn’t specify a sum specifically. I doubt he’s asking for 250-300k straight up like many hinting at but as I said in a previous post people will use this situation as a stick to beat him. I think if the offer was say around 175k base plus whatever add ons/incentives on a 4 or 5 year deal it would of been signed by now.
-
But would it not be pointless overloading one position with potentially 4 players if Mount stays and if we look to sign Felix which has been heavily hinted no? And I don’t know what the formality is with the Nkunku deal but it is “agreed” and would imagine that it is still on. For that reason alone, I was skeptical of us signing Felix but it wouldn’t surprise me now, it just seems like it will happen. There are a lot of young and inexpensive players right now but we aren’t going to be able to sign them all. I just don’t see where he fits in the next 2, 3 or 4 seasons with Nkunku coming in, Mount potentially (would still say 75% chance) still being here and I don’t think we can discount Felix ending up here either now with all the noise re him. And with the kid being 19 he has to also think about that. If we don’t keep Mount or sign Felix then maybe but I have a feeling both will be Chelsea players next season. And if the logic is just sign him because well why let anyone else sign him, then I don’t know just daft. There is no viable logic on unnecessarily stockpiling young players right now particularly as we have just went and signed maybe 7 players under the age of 22. Have no multi club model in place. Have limitations on loan players coming up in the next 1 or 2 years.
-
Honestly until the clubs multi club model is in place or unless he’s being loaned somewhere to keep playing for 12-18 months, I think this signing, at least in the short term next 1-2 seasons, would be very stupid and just stockpiling for the sake of it. I get there is talk around Mount being sold in the summer but we also have to consider the fact that Nkunku is signing and then, if Mount goes, I’d imagine Felix on a permanent would be a much much bigger priority as he’s already here, already accustomed to the manager and his teammates etc. Zakharayan would merely be a squad player and thats without considering if Mount stays also which is also still not to be ruled out. I actually have a feeling Felix will be signed regardless in all honesty. Also god no re Joachim Low as manager here. Yes he had a good 10 year period between 2006-2016 but the after his Germany teams were so average, despite still having a pretty good collection of players to pick from IMO. Plus imagine going to the Bridge to see this bloke scratching his nuts then sniffing his hand afterward on a regular basis? No thanks 😂
-
I think he’s waiting to see if his performances are going to justify such wages but that requires a huge improvement from Mason (although I don’t think anybody this season or even 4 months of last was particularly that good to just point the finger at one player). I still think he will resign but not sure for how much. There are people claiming he’s asking for anywhere between 250-300k a week but I also have doubts Boehly would be handing out these deals at a flat rate to anybody (cant find a figure for Reece’s new contract although was signed ages ago - IIRC around 250k a week but is that basic or add ons/incentives to be taken into it also?) based on the fact of how he’s structured these longer term deals with the new signings ie. more performance based add ons and incentives as opposed to the “premium Abramovich contracts” we keep hearing about in the media.
-
Might as well sell Colwill then. Unless Boehly wants us to play 5-3-3 with an extra CB 😂 I mean we cannot sign everyone under the age of 21 who is particularly good because we already have about 13 players for each position now. Sales of higher profile players such as Lukaku, Ziyech, Pulisic should be the priority this summer (although we all know the first priority should be a new manager) before we even look at buying another 12 footballers.
-
Not necessarily. The worst thing is with these contract talks being shelved it can just linger like a cloud over the player. As it did with both Courtois (who eventually ended up forcing a move) and Hazard (who again had no intentions on resigning here despite several offers being made). It was clear once we shelved their contract talks for whatever reasons, be it focusing on the remainder of the season or whatever, they would be leaving. Plus Mason’s apparent wage demands have already been used as a stick to beat him with so this will just provide more ammunition for folk despite it being the club wanting to shelve them to the summer due to no breakthrough in prior negotiations. Who’s to say he will want to renew in the summer? Its more than likely a reality that we are going to finish mid table this season and no doubt him and his agent will be looking out and about for alternatives. Suppose it could also be very dependant on if Graham Potters still in charge next season too because I will put my neck out and say we will likely be mid table again by the end of that season. Seeing very little to indicate that he can do anything to change the tide regardless of how many players we sign. I have a pretty strong feeling Liverpool will ramp their interest up in Mason come the summer. A sale would again throw some big questions at the owner plus the ramifications for the academy if he’s willing to shift one of the biggest success stories of it because he wont put his hands in his pockets to pay a wage similar to what he’s given other players. There should already be concerns for anybody trying to break through the academy to first team in the next 18-24 months as it is with say 60% of our signings being 22 and under. I don’t see how there is a pathway between the academy and first team for a lot of players now based on the last 2 windows. Not that it was hugely strong beforehand but it was easier to see I think more so than ever over the last 3 or 4 seasons. And then if the reason is we need to sell players for FFP then maybe Boehly and co shouldn’t of been so prominent in spending £600m in 1 season without fully understanding the ramifications of FFP.
-
2 days off? We’ve been fucking shite for months who’s thought the best thing to do is give the players 2 days off? Not surprised one bit this team is a soft touch. Days off for doing shite?
-
He only had the greatest front 3 in modern day footballing history though who scored something like 300 goals in 3 seasons between then. And even then, he left after the third season for whatever reasons when performances were very very bad. Plus lets not forget his transfer record was abysmal at Barcelona, he is credited with signing the likes of Turan, Alcacer, Andre Gomes, Dennis Suarez, Jeremy Mathieu, Aleix Vidal, Lucas Digne. Really, Luis Suarez and Rakitic were really the only successful buys he made. His Spain team were also one of the most boring sides I’ve seen in forever. One game against Costa Rica who were awful wont change that. Personally would let Atletico Madrid appoint him as is heavily being speculated. I know Potter is out of his depth but Enrique isnt the answer. Pochettino is more likely to fit the clubs strategy and I would expect him to do better here than the likes of Enrique or Zidane but still have doubts over how successful we would be with him.
-
Jurys still out but he looks much better than what Mudryk has if I am honest. Not been impressed with him at all bar 10-15 mins v Liverpool.
-
That interview, about making changes, wow. The guy is just deluded. We were hopelessly and hilariously outplayed by a team who are 20th. The longer Boehly and co back this guy will only be more detrimental to this clubs long term success. Barring a few good January signings their repeated faith in this guy is laughable and makes me very very nervous. How far will they let us fall off the cliff?
-
Yep Kovacic having to do a lot of extra work in there himself. Enzo again not too aware of whats going on behind him but don’t think thats naturally his game. Kante is a huge loss. Think he would be the best partner for him.
-
🤣 shows how long you’ve been on here have had that name since we signed Mo back in 2014
-
Havertz on. Oh god. Cause hes going to change the game for us. We need to sack Potter ASAP jesus christ
-
We weren’t exactly hugely consistent v Dortmund though either. Maybe played good for around 20-25 minutes. All the changes we’ve made you would think the team would be fresh but they aren’t showing it at all. Outfought to every first or second ball. Every header. Everything. Only side I’ve seen make Southampton look reasonably good in a while.
-
@YorkshireBlue are you writing out the give Potter time posts in preparation for another loss? Lets hope Potter gets angry at half time….. be a usual change from strolling around doing nothing.
-
Yes because Mount and Mount alone is the reason we are playing shit as a team. Also, this is one of the sorriest first halfs of football I’ve ever seen from a Chelsea team. Making Southampton look good. Despite having £500m + worth of players on the pitch.
-
3 attempts 1 on target. We are the home team. Playing Southampton…. Jesus
-
Mental how Southampton have looked shite all season yet when they play us all of a sudden they look good. Yet people think we will make progress under Graham Potter. Embarrassing.
