Am sure that was blatantly clear last season though no? Nkunku, Joao Felix, Veiga….

So are the people shouting about all the attackers we signed this summer still thinking we could’ve maybe competed for the title 😂Honestly sick of saying it. If you cannot defend, you will not win tight games or get points when you’re not at your best. Sanchez, Tosin, Fofana….. all 3 BlueCo signings…. all 3 shouldn’t be near the starting 11 for a mid table club yet alone a team competing in Europe. Enzo Fernandez another guy who was an absolute liability without the ball and also gave it away so many times when he did have it. Why we keep starting him week in and week out is absolutely baffling. Reece & Joao Pedro only ones who did reasonably well. Rest need a long hard look at themselves, manager included, selection and subs shot us in the foot severely. Should of just not bothered watching us this season. Style of football is an absolute eyesore. 2-0 & 2-1 down and we are passing it around between GK, CBs & CMs without looking forward/taking too many touches/playing far too slow. Ball possession is only effective when its at a high tempo and allows you to tire the opposition out/beat their press.

In all fairness wasn’t even a second yellow was very soft I think. A good team would of looked to capitalise on that, we just did the same turgid shite slow football that we do 11 v 11. Hot take: Maresca will not be in charge next season and we will finish between 6-9th.
-
2-1. Lucky. We have been shocking though.
-
What is Enzo Fernandez? Embarrassing how much we paid for him. Sell please.
-
Amateur hour. Maresca needs to go. First 38 minutes prime example of a man who has no idea what hes doing. Enzo Fernandez pathetic

The agent charges from FA are under Roman. We were fined by UEFA under BlueCo for some things, hotel sale and then something to do with squad ratio cannot remember the exact details. And if we don’t follow the guidelines over the next 4 years, it could go from £30m to £90m if I remember rightly. Aston Villa were also fined around the same time.

Bayern were definitely there to be gotten at and we had chances first half. Experience and quality make or break teams, they have that in abundance. We need that. They managed to get through a difficult moment then woke up. Look at the all the teams that won titles here, quality, knowhow, experience, big personalities. There are a few older lads in the group already but more experienced and stronger personalities are needed definitely. Regardless, we made it easy for them. Like against Brentford at the weekend. And several times last season and the one before that. We are a soft side. Media and supporters keep saying we are a “young side with not a lot of experience” but the only way that is going to change sooner than later is with adding a couple of guys who have either the right quality/experience/mentality/personalities to help the younger guys. Big games aren’t necessarily just about outperforming the opponent from the get go, you’ve got to manage the game and get through moments where the other teams have the better of it. We don’t have that quality or knowhow at current & doubtful we will get it going down this path again. I thought against PSG Maresca and the boys showed a bit of that but it’s been too few and far between in his & Poch’s tenure.

Exactly. But hey he would’ve been on big wages yadayadayada and the BlueCo boffins would be afraid to break their wage structure. Or would rather dedicate the funds to sign 14 16-20 year olds that could easily be the next Buffon, Nesta & Madlini or on the other side of the coin, Paddy Kenny, Titus Bramble & Phil Bardsley. That will probably get loaned and sold anyway for profit. Despite not wanting to be anything like the past ownership but isn’t stock pilling every good under 21 player not something we did before? With Roman? And sending players to Vitesse/loan army? Yes but outside of the club, do the fans care about re-sale value? No. I hate seeing people mention it as if it means something significant. Same with net spend - there isn’t any trophies for spreadsheet side of football. Ok the club is a business but no point having a net spend of £50m if all you’ve got to show for it is a place in the Conference League or whatever. And even then, we’ve been nailed with fines and fuck knows what else under BlueCo’s ownership to do with finances/transfers so again wouldn’t be getting a hard on about finances 😂 If we can improve upon a player significantly, why not show ambition and do it? Hence why I was so for the Maignan deal for the €22m or whatever it was these jokers wouldn’t stump up…. Donnarumma would’ve been an even better signing too. Missed opportunities for sure. I said Jorgensen wouldn’t be good enough before we closed the deal, the fact Sanchez kept him out the team for most of last season says everything.

But look at how the City case is playing out, likelihood nothings coming of it bar a fine. They paid a fine for some other shit there also and you don’t see anyone of their own fan base calling them cheaters 🤣 I mean I particularly am not interested in the City case because it will go down to a fine which they will pay and that’ll be it. Football is a shady business pal. Clubs paying agents backhanders to get players to sign has been part and parcel of the game for as long as anyone can remember. Legally, illegally, whatever way you want to look at it. Christ, teams and players for certain teams particularly in the late 90s and early 2000s were tapping up opposition players like it was normal. Probably before then too. Not worth getting yourself in a twist over. Or shooting yourself in the foot saying your own team are cheats….. its on the financial side not sporting side. This isn’t like Juventus match fixing. And for your last question, winning is winning, you think anyone from the previous ownership gave a shit what other peoples thoughts were during the hugely successful period we had? People from outside of Chelsea already didn’t like Roman at the beginning.

Different sides though. Kudus looks a good player in parts but would frustrate the life out of you. If he gets that real ruthless streak in him, he could potentially be a very good player but it remains to be seen if he can deliver at a much higher level week in week out. He has only hit double figures for goals 3 seasons in his whole career. One of Gittens or Garnacho shouldn’t of been signed so we could have made a move for a more established left winger for them to learn from (and to be more likely to be aboe to contribute directly from the get go). Or even someone more in the mould of Pedro Neto’s age bracket perhaps. Simons wouldn’t have came here to essentially be a back up to Cole either I think. I know we were short on the fee but he went to PSV & Leipzig to play regularly instead of being a back up/squad player at PSG. I cannot see how a player of that quality would have been happy to sit on the bench while his primary position is occupied by our best player who plays when he is available 90% of the time. He plays out on the left also but he is definitely more of a central player.

Are Forest that much better than Brentford though? Really? They have same points so far this season. Even today, in their game v Arsenal, they were awful and didn’t start playing to they were 2-0 down. Plus when does attacking resources combat poor defending? It never has and never will. You keep mentioning these attacking resources and firing us to the title. If anyone thinks Delap, Gittens or Garnacho are title winning attacking players then I don’t know. If your team cannot do the basics defensively you will suffer in games like this one today or if we ever make it to the big boy table and become title challengers, big matches against competitors where it is very cagey and tight. And Brentford is a difficult game and has been for seasons, be it Thomas Frank or Keith Andrews now. I mean did Brentford play any differently today to how they played against us under Thomas Frank? Not really. They’ve got a solid foundation, ability to play various styles of football and the core of their squad is still from a relatively successful period with Thomas Frank in terms of where they started and where they now are. Keith Andrews was a part of that coaching staff also so its not a completely new ideology.

Weren’t complaining at the time when we were winning all those trophies and signing top top players, where you? I don’t think anyone was or would be in all honesty. Saying “ah so its ok to cheat” after everything Roman did for the club is also a bit ridiculous and ungrateful no? Taking the moral high ground at any level - be it the new owners all the way down to fans - is a bit daft now because it’s happened, nobody really knew, now we do. Even BlueCo have done some questionable things since taking over. Like Radcliffe at United also. Look at City also with their charges…. Footballs a business, business is shady. Who said anything about taking titles…. These charges aren’t for match fixing….

Adjusts to the PL? The lad is English he should be used to and know what to expect from the pace of the English game. He had 3 seasons in the Bundesliga? Ok PL is different at first team level quality wise but we aren’t talking someone who’s never kicked a ball never been exposed to English football at any level…. he was miles off it. Maybe adjust to his new team mates is a better excuse to make for him. The defending on several occasions tonight with 4 CBs starting effectively (Hato can be either CB or LB) was laughable. Obviously Brentford are no push overs at all, even with the xhange in coach and loss of players, a tough team who know how to get results but we made it very easy for them to utilise their gameplan. The less said about Tosin all night the better. Chalobah very poor for the second goal and Garnacho just doing what all attackers do in that situation - stand watching their marker score the easiest goal of their life. Fernandez-Caicedo combination again without the ball…. too much space for teams to expose. Brentford will be the first of many to do this to us again this season. Clear game plan orientated around being physical, going more direct, utilising long throw ins etc. And some of the big teams now utilise these tactics to get an advantage, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool… so we need to wake up. Why Maresca keeps fucking around with starting Reece then not starting and bringing him on at HT is absolutely mind boggling too.
-
He’s scared to engage opponents or go for headers up against someone. He is shite. Been saying it since he signed. Also Gittens? Another Mudryk? Even Noni is a better player!!!
-
How many long balls are they going to ping down between Tosin & Fofana? About the 4th or 5th one and they finally get a goal from it. Anyone saying we need more attackers in the transfer window are blind. Top quality CB & GK (no clanger yet) priority. Tosin is a squad player at best. 6 ft 5 and hes scared of attacking the ball or engaging opponents. Useless.

Regardless of the FA (and who they have in charge and how they are), it seems that they’d likely be none the wiser if BlueCo hadn’t reported these findings they made. The findings was part of their due diligence before buying the club from Roman…. not that it makes anything difference. Just the usual out roar without knowing the full story. BlueCo kept £100m from the amount they bought the club for sitting aside incase of any repercussions from these according to reports. The FA haven’t specified if it is all from before the takeover or not, so who knows what will happen… but yeah will be interesting to see how it all goes. Yep if we go into another window signing only attacking players then questions need to be asked. Again. For about the third of fourth window running….

City’s reaction to James Trafford struggling in 2/3 games? Letting Ederson go and signing Gigi Donnaruma. A top GK who made countless big saves in some of the biggest games in the run up to PSG winning the CL last season. Would reckon his presence helps that defensive unit. Liverpool sold attacking players like Nunez, Diaz who worked very hard pressing from the front & added another attack minded midfielder with Wirtz. That on top of replacing Trent and Robertson with two more attack minded fullbacks. All of a sudden look incredibly more open and vulnerable defensively? Is anyone really shocked? Not entirely. But flip side to that is Arne Slot showed last season he can find solutions to make Liverpool really difficult to play against, how many clean sheets did they get last year? If he’s able to find that balance…. Title winning teams balance is always key. Need both sides of the coin for that, without a top GK or top CB though - we will always find ourselves lacking over such a long season when it really matters. And even with a pretty half decent goals against record last season, we were still talking about Robert Sanchez mistakes and conceding extremely poor goals from lack of organisation and leadership costing us points far too often. And will be the same this season because we lack top quality there. Adding more goals to this team without addressing those two colossal sized problems isn’t going to solve anything.
-
One more top attacking signing would’ve made us a serious threat at top of table and in CL? A top top GK and CB would’ve been more important than Simons, Garnacho or any other attacking players at this point in the window. And would allow us to continue with this younger/developing attacking players because at least we wouldn’t be relying on outscoring teams due to not being able to keep clean sheets from GK errors or poor defending. People keep talking about attacking midfielders and wingers but this team will probably never win a CL or a PL without top players in those 2 positions. Point out any title winning teams of the past 10 years without those positions being covered & look at the nearly did/teams that threw it away.. what did they lack? On Simons - mentioned before, why would any attacking player with options where they would be first choice at a pretty competitive level is specifically looking at coming here now when we have the options we have currently is beyond me. We have enough numbers in attack, for any #10s and wide players thinking a move here at present is a good idea, near the end of the window… need their heads examined.
-
I think Simons & Garnacho will be last two signings we make. Not going for a top GK or top CB is difficult to fathom though, we will get found out with Sanchez for sure. I get the lad from Ajax signed but they talk like he is going to be cover at left back more than at CB. Will Simons play as a 10 or wide? How does both Palmer & him slot into the same team with the likes of Joao Pedro, Estevao, Gittens, Garnacho & Neto also to be considered for those 3 positions behind the CF? I’m a bit shocked a player of Xavi Simons calibre is looking at us and thinking of coming here mainly because there is a lot of attacking players here already and he could end up on the bench. Garnacho the same. Given how easily and quickly Maresca discarded several club signings last year, I do wonder if any of the players we have signed will suffer the same fate this season?
-
Shown his true colours with his attitude though that last 6 months. Particularly after the Europa League final. Disappointed we are going for someone who has shown this sort of mentality in early stages of his career given how much time and effort has been put into trying to identify the right sort of personalities. And seems odd going for another Man Utd outcast having already had someone of that ilk with Sancho last season. But I suppose £35m is a relatively low fee in todays market. Has to improve his decision making though or he ends up another Mudryk-esque signing (braindead footballer). Had shown signs of promise with ten Hag though.
-
Everyone plays with both!!!! 😂 He is naturally right footed though. But plays on left side. He will probably not be a top option for us, we will go for another up & comer.
-
£26m pricetag for Donnarumma…. Apparently…. Should be all over that. Be absolutely soul destroying seeing Sanchez or Jorgensen lining up as our number 1 😂
-
Just avoid Garnacho. Please. Talented but an absolute gimp and his attitude clearly in same as Rashford & Sancho. The fact 15th place Man Utd dont want him says it all. We are actually the only ones after him… Will we get rid of Jackson? Lets hope so.
-
Another simplistic goal couple of one-twos, Madrid absolutely all over the place 😂 PSG going to be absolutely brutal to play in the final
