Exactly my thoughts. AVB has showed in the summer that he has a great eye for signings (probably because he used to be a scout). I really hope he continues to prove that in Jan and next summer. I'll take another Mata, please. How so?

Lads, if the inevitable upcoming changes in the team (Anelka, Alex, and Kalou handing in transfer requests and DD not renewing his contract) are an indicator of anything, it is that AVB will not be leaving any time soon. It is obvious, at least to me it is, that the club has put its trust in him to rebuild our squad. Bitter as it may taste, we can afford to miss out on the CL knock out stages, because even if we do qualify, what are our realistic chances of winning the thing? I think the closest time that AVB's future would be at doubt at the club is if we fail to make a top 4 finish in the league at the end of the season.

Luiz is suspended, which is most worrying. I'd just swap him with Alex for this one game because I feel we need consistency at the back. But I have a feeling AVB is going to pull some unexpected formation or team selection. 5-3-2 does not look too bad against city.

That would be a great move for him. He can, at least, make a difference there.

I think we can all agree that his departure is well overdue. But he is also a player that has always tried his best to benefit the club, and for that he, at least, deserves that we wish him the best of luck in his future. Don't you think?

Actually the fee was undisclosed, but I remember that it was first rumored to be around 1.5 millions. Well of course he has the right to ask for any price he wants, as I have the right to believe that he is not worth 20 million pounds. Surely we can find a player just as good but with a lower price tag, don't you think? And I meant that we ought not to be at stage where we do not value 20M because when you do not care about how much money you are giving players, they tend to not care about how much effort they give in return. That said, I think we are much less likely to regret paying 8 or 10 millions for a different player who is just as good ilicic.

That depends, are we going to keep the high-line? Or play deeper like we did today in the second half? If it's the later then Alex will not be so bad. If it's the former...well the we're screwed anyway!

I think it'd be a brave call if AVB went with someone other than Iva, or Alex (just because he handed in a transfer request doesn't mean he doesn't have to play if he was asked to). But AVB did say a couple of times (when we first signed him) that romeu could play as CB, though I'm not sure the game against the best attack in europe is the best one to test him in the position.

Farewells are sentimental moments. I though I was supposed to say things that I didn't really mean!

Real got an important win against sporting. I didn't think so at the start of the season, but they have a half decent chance at snatching the title this season. The classicos will be vital for the race.
