  1. Agreed. Even Piazon would have done more than Marko had we not loaned him out.
  2. What I meant by two wrongs not making a right is that just because a wrong has been made, you don't go out and make another to make things right. The difference between this and the Macheda goal and the Abidal sending off is that those things happened by an error from the ref while simulation is a conscious decision to do something wrong. Meaning you are suggesting that it is okay for players to take refereeing into their own hands by means of simulation when the ref makes some mistakes. My point was that we should show absolutely no tolerance for simulation, in any circumstance because that will only open the door for acceptance of even less sportsmanlike actions.
  3. The thing is, no one will pay any money for him right now, but if we can get him a loan next season where he gets minutes and shows some talent, may be we can get back the 7m we paid for him after next season.
  4. Alan Shearer: "The PL needs Mourinho": http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4916438/Jose-Mourinho-will-save-the-Prem-and-win-title-for-Chelsea.html Ray Wilkins touched on this in an interview last week and Shearer makes the point again that Jose could bring back a lot of the glow that the PL lost this season. Having someone like Jose in the league brings a lot of attention.
  5. Actually he was injured according to the official twitter account.
  6. That's a very slippery slope, my friend, because it is all very subjective. How do you determine when a ref isn't 'giving players protection'? There's no black or white, it's mostly grey. What a player deems as a ref not giving him protection could be very good refereeing to a neutral. What if the player thought he should have had a foul in a couple of incidents but the ref had actually got it right? Would it be okay to simulate then? Besides, it's very dangerous business when you take 'achieving overall justice' into your own hands. It was probably, imo, 'fair' yesterday that Luiz acted and Rafael got the card, but to other people it is not and in other cases it may not be. Let's assume for a second that Rafael did not deserve a red card, would it have been fair for Luiz to playact and get him sent off because Cleverly deserved to get sent off for the stomp on Mata earlier? If yes, would it then be fair to simulate in order to win a match were the opposition didn't really get any decisions from the ref in their favor but one where you deserved to win because you were clearly the better side? My point is, two wrongs don't make a right and if you're not careful with these kind of thoughts you end up losing your sportsmanship and the ethics that sports are built on.

  8. Welcome aboard Great to have you here and hope you stick around and join the discussions.
  9. I just about fitted in the 17-21 category. I'm still young!
  10. Are sure the page isn't just zoomed out? The font hasn't changed for me.
  11. You could only see his feet in the video but I'm 80% sure it's Iva.
  12. You definitely need glasses! No, seriously, if you look at the reverse angle replay you'll see that the shot was deflected off the calf of Jones and since after the deflect the ball hit the post then logically it was going wide had it not been deflected.
  13. I made my opinion about the Luiz-Rafael incident clear in the match thread, but a few points about somethings people are using to defend Luiz: - Luiz's reaction has nothing to whether or not it was a red card. The red card is besides the point. - I don't care if other players do it, we don't want to see our players 'acting' because it's unsportsmanlike and because the club really does not need the bad publicity. - For those saying that he was not simulating, it's not about the smile, it's about holding his ankle when he clearly isn't hurt and staying on the floor to get Rafael sent off (which he deserved anyway). It's really a shame that we have to discuss such incident after a very good win and a massive 3 points.. On his actual football performance, I think David is a little tired because he started the game a little on the wrong foot and had a couple of dodgy moments in the first 20 mins but he got better as the game went on and had an excellent second half.
  14. That's a very good point. We've all been just assuming that Jose will come here and work wonders.
  15. Lose - We have to win the remaining two games. Draw - We have to win one of the remaining two games. Win - Our job is done. Very simple.
  16. Actually our goal difference is very much better than Spurs, so winning that game would practically ensure top 4.
  17. Yes he did. I did watch it and I saw Luiz clutching the back of his ankle when Rafael actually caught him on his thigh. In the clip that the tv channel kept showing, you can see at the end of it Luiz was about to get up, then Iva came up to him and said something and Luiz clutches his ankle again and rolls around some more. It was a red card, I said so in the first post, but Luiz was clearly acting.
  18. Oh come on, I'm as biased as you, but that doesn't change facts. Luiz did need to roll around like that when Rafael didn't really catch him. He was about to get up as well but Iva, I think, told him to stay down so he rolled around some more. Like I said, if a united played did this he'd be declared public enemy number one here.
  19. Those were cleared about a month ago. He won't miss any game.
  20. Absolutely MASSIVE 3 points. Going into the Tottenham game with practically a 4 points lead, if you factor in the GD, makes a world of difference. Mata clearly the MOTM. Crucial goal. About the red card, I do think it was red, but if a united player did what Luiz did we'd all have crucified him. It might have felt good for us fans after the refereeing injustice by Webb in that match, but we really don't want to be seeing that kind of simulation from our players.
