Damn, I though the game was tonight Basel were, imo, the best opponent we faced last season on the EL but we were lucky that we put in arguably our best performance in the competition against them. The 4-4-1-1 worked perfectly in that tie and IIRC, Moses in particular was outstanding. Crap. But I think it was going to be Lamps-MVK regardless. Can't we stick Josh or Chalobah on the bench if he's not fit at all?

I did watch the video. He just needlessly took a couple of steps forward and left JT and Iva out numbered. Granted that others made mistakes in the goal as well.

Agree, he couldn't have anticipated Jelavic to pass across the goal and had he done he would have left the near post wide open for Jelavic to apply the easiest of finishes.

Not saying he shouldn't have. I thought he had a bad game. But my post was in answer to some who were saying that they would have liked to see him take on players more during the match which, imo, was impossible.

He also did other things that Mikel never does like lose the ball too easily at the edge of his own box, misplace a lot of passes, and be completely out of position when the opposition counter attack. He had a bad game, but to be fair to the kid, so did all of Valencia.

Except he was voted MOTM by the vast majority of the forum so not only did he fit yesterday, but according to most people he was the one who fitted the most in Jose's system. And didn't you say he can only play well when we are being dominated and do nothing but defend while the opposition have the possession? Well we also had 65% possession yesterday, so there goes another theory, damn! I honestly think it's time to come up with a different theory. regardless, they need him there and are lacking a proper attacking midfielder (although I do believe his future is a bit deeper, which they are also lacking). He'd never get a look in here. In any account I don't think he should move till at least two seasons from now.

True. Barry escaped at least three solid yellow cards and the yellow cards he did give were too soft. But, tbf, he was probably the best ref in the PL yesterday! Not a good day for refs.

I think we replay that game and put in the exact same performance we win the match 9 times out of ten. Incredibly unlucky.

On the bright side, he's still very young and we can put him on some kind of special program just for him to improve his finishing.

So I'm guessing the issues he had with the manager and players and captaincy are over now?
