It's really hard to find this model professionalism attitude with the new generation of players, especially if they were exposed to the spot light and became famous from the youth level. Courtois and Lukaku are just two examples, there are hundreds more examples. Too high wages for youth players, too much exposure for the youth level maybe. But it's really sad, because it is exactly this attitude and mentality that produces real leaders and true winners.

We're not going to force our future player to pay for part of his transfer. We're not bloody Barcelona!

Honest Question: Why do we have a Youth system?
CHOULO19 replied to Chelsea?'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
It's not Jose, it's the requirements of being a top European team, especially in England. What team managed to bring players through and still win titles in England? Arsenal have been bringing youth through for years and it took them spending big to sign top players in the past two seasons for them to win an FA cup. United couldn't bring anyone through and had to let Pogba and only when they had a disastrous season and finished 7th that they could bring Januzaj through. The current youth system just doesn't work for the top teams in the league. Everyone slatted AVB when he said, but he was right, we need B teams in the lower leagues to be able to bring players through. -
No, that's not! I think you meant to post this one: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=763107607043841&set=vb.386636354690970&type=3&video_source=pages_video_set

Yeah, but he'll probably get the least playing time there. Monchengla...etc. is his option, imo.

Bundes Liga is perfect for him.

For that to be true, journos would have to be writing new ideas in their articles and then people would read those articles and adopt the opinions. But that's never the case. The vast majority of the articles in papers are just recycling of what everyone is saying with slight variations based on personal opinions and biases. The influence of the general consensus on what is written in papers is much more than the influence of papers on the general consensus. People don't want to read new opinions that they don't already have. That's very scary for them. They want to read journos write what they already believe is true. Anything to sell papers.
-
Of course the general consensus plays a HUGE part in what journos write and in turn the media influences the general consensus. That's why 90% of the whats written in the papers and said by the 'experts' on TV are the same crap being repeated over and over again. Of course, there are variations based on personal opinion and biases, but that seems to be very smal. There are also variations based on what would be considered "shocking" and get more clicks, but that's the state of the media in the world right now. Regarding Rafa, while most Chelsea fans hated his guts, the majority of football fans in the country were on his side and thought that he was being mistreated by the Chelsea fans. It was even said publicly by some opposition managers. So, the general consensus in football was very sympathetic with him. You really can't argue that the general consensus does not influence opinions. That's ridiculous!

I'm vastly overestimating the impact of the forum when I said it probably makes no difference? I'm saying it's part of the general consensus and the general consensus makes a difference. In fact, my original comment was not about the particular user or the whole forum, it was about how most Chelsea fans seem to have low expectations of him.
-
TalkChelsea is part of the general consensus that sets what most of the fans think and what ultimately decides what journos write. Of course, one user can't make a difference, or even probably the whole forum, but it's a part.

There's a shocker! If he leaves Chelsea he will most likely be between the posts for Real Madrid or Barcelona. He's still in the top 3 keepers in the world with Buffon and Neuer.
-
No, the fans and the media can't put any pressure whatsoever on players
-
For me, it's finding out that that used to play for Chelsea! No, seriously, for me the 2009 vs Barcelona was worse than Moscow. And at that moment, the 2-2 away at Barca felt better than Drogba's penalty because it was like I was still in denial till the next day when it went in. I literally made no noise whatsoever that night. It was only till the next day when I watched the clips and interviews and cried that I really felt the joy of it.

Yes, an introvert who appeared on national TV with a feather up his ass!

Moved back to the feedback section. Done. Log in name stays the same.

Hey, I'm with you. Would rather have Blackman as 3rd choice. But I'm just stating the facts that we did do something very similar last season, so you can't really base any conclusions on this, imo.
-
Yes, he wasn't, but he was in the team. He signed a one year extension last season and we had a big debate about it and about why not just having Blackman as out third choice keeper.
-
Honestly, this is better than "HE'LL SCORE 40 GOALS AND WIN US THE LEAGUE!!!" The less pressure on him the better.

Yes. Zionists have a huge influence in Western Media and Western politics in general. Honestly, I think it's a political decision. One that won't be made any time soon. General consensus is set by the media and the media is a reflection of certain policies. As you said, there can be no just solution as long as the best interest of Israel is valued many times more than that of the Arabs. Israel broke down the "peace talks" when Hamas and Fateh, the two main representatives of the Palestinian people, ended their feud. There can never be any doubt after that about Israel's intentions to not have actual peace.

Yes, mostly ignored unless related incident happens like Hamas retaliating. But Israelis are "worth" more than Arabs, especially Palestinians. I know this doesn't conform with "western ethics" but it's sadly been proven true on so many occasions.

Nothing justifies the murdering of kids. The fact that Israel have killed thousands of kids does not make this crime any less inhumane. But if only the outrage in the world for the three Israeli teenagers is matched for thousand Palestinian and Arab children. May they all RIP.

You and I remember Raul Meireles very differently!

Long term solution? What exactly is the problem? He's not here to be the star, not now not in the future. He's here to be a squad player and very few teams can say they have a player of this quality for that role. I personally would NOT prefer a young player for this role. We have more than enough player "for the future". We need players with experience, and when it's someone who's already won things even with this very club. It's pretty damn smart signing by the club, imo. EDIT: Add to that the fact that he's coming on a free, so there is literally nothing to lose by signing him.
-
Great squad depth player. He's still quality as he showed last season and technically, I would MUCH rather have him on the bench than Frank. Plus, we've all been talking about the lack of leaders in the team, well there you go. A leader whos' been here before and knows the club as well as the older players. This signing is an almost ZERO risk one. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want him here.
