I just hope that Roman will give AVB time to develop the team over the next few years. When AVB was offered the job he must have explained his long term plans for the squad and what needed to happen. I will be happy with top 3 right now and a possible cup as I can see that the team is in transition. The introduction of Mata, Sturridge, McEachran, Romeu (and a creative central midfield playmaker) as important 1st team players over the next 18 months will refresh the squad in the long term.

Hate to say it but he would have been a great addition to our first XI. Getting the title back just got a bit more difficult...

I may have been a little harsh on Mikel but all i'm saying is that he is a decent defensive midfielder and considering the rave reviews he got before he joined I sometimes wonder if he would be better in a more advanced like Liverpool's Lucas. I get the feeling that Romeu will surpass him in the next 12 - 18 months with superior passing and the ability to start attacking moves.

With Essien out, you think Mikel will flourish? No. Sorry! He dosn't impose himself on a game, doesn't contribute any goals, lacks the ability to drivre the team forward and his passing range is limited.

Sell Kalou (£6m to Villa?, QPR?, Anyone?), keep Anelka as he's gone at the end of the season anyway and get Mata.

Yes! He knows that we need a winger! I as getting worried as we lack a player that can eject pace into the team. Things are looking up...

Zhirkov on the move for £13 million+? I hate to see players leave but he always seemed to be a bit part player who couldn't quite find his place in the team. The potential deal sounds good for both clubs and I wish him the best of luck in the future.

We should try to get him on loan with an option to buy. The best of both worlds - at least we would find out if he still has anything left in the tank.

There is no chance of a deal ever happening. We might as well move on (and get Marko Marin instead!)

I think that we need to wait until AVB has assessed the squad. I'm sure that he will have compiled a comprehensive dossier on the squad with players that he will happy to see leave. I don't think that anyone is in any doubt that the club needs new personnel but 'm under the impression that it will be more evolution that revolution. The lack of creativity and pace should be obvious to all but hey we're going to have wait and see.
