  1. Just baffling. A club that finished top 4 needs to look at a midtable club to learn how to get into top 4.
  2. Hats off to Potter for negotiating that. Maybe he's a mastermind after all.
  3. If we're going down that route, might as well bring in Emma Hayes as coach
  4. It's possible that Boehly & Co. are thinking that a single win will get us going., and are just patiently waiting for that. I guess they never imagined that they'd have to wait this long.
  5. All his press conferences somehow showcase some form of self-pity. This time he at least accepted full responsibility for the loss, but then he goes on to bring up comparisons with Arteta and Klopp (and not the first time. He started when we faced Arsenal this season). Instead of spurring the team on, and saying that they need to be a lot better than they are, he moans about how difficult the situation is with injuries and new transfers, and how tough the 'moment' is. Some of these are true, but why adopt a defeatist attitude? No wonder his team are in the bottom of the form table. He's probably sucked the confidence out of the players. He's basically kicking the can down the road., and the worst part is - I'm not sure he could improve the situation even if he tried.
  6. Based on the form in last 5 games, we ARE the worst team in the league. Only team besides Palace without a win, and even they have one less defeat compared to us.
  7. At the 7:01 mark he starts comparing himself to Arteta. Come on. That comparison is for others to make. Not Potter himself. If you start using that excuse yourself and hide behind it, how can it NOT go wrong?
  8. Looking at the PL form table, Crystal Palace is the only other club without a win in the last 5 games. And even they have one less loss in comparison.
  9. Shows how important having the right manager is in football these days. It's a shame, because last season when United were floundering under Ole, I thought we finally had our right man in Tuchel. Complete role reversal between the two clubs. Chelsea post-Abramovic is looking like United post-Ferguson. With United they had Moyes come in and dismantle whatever remained of Fergie's coaching staff, setting them backwards by years. We are facing something similar if this shitshow continues.
  10. Haha, thought crossed my mind too. Seems too convenient that they kept making mistake after mistake., in his failed move. Even if it were true, it's shambolic that it went that far only for him to take a sudden u-turn
  11. Yeah, that's what worries me a bit. I just hope he doesn't sacrifice a few good players along the way. It might be justified if the manager in question is that good, not when it's a gamble.
  12. Was about to loan out Ziyech - gets him back and plays him in nearly every game, even turning him into a starter Played Jorginho in nearly ever game he was here, but sells him at the last minute. Sidelined Aubemayang for weeks but calls him back in the dying minutes of this game,.when all is lost. Yeah, he's just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Just clueless at this point.
  13. If it wasn't evident already, the players are against him. Such an insipid performance.
  14. We've managed to degrade Enzo in a few weeks. Not bad.
  15. The players are more or less trying to get the boss out af this point. It's more evident than ever.
  16. If we do raise our game here, hopefully it stays like that for a while. The opposite happened against Dortmund, where we played well, only to fall flat against the Saints. And this is a problem that's been there before Potter. Players seem to choose the games they want to turn up for., and are generally out of it in the league games when we are a. Not playing a big opponent or b. Out of the title race and/or top 4 contention.
  17. Don't forget. Southampton came to Stamford Bridge with a Plan! Curse those machiavellian saints, scheming and foiling Potter's grand design.
  18. Not using this as an excuse for Potter (since he wasn't in charge right after preseason), I'll admit that in general, looking at the past decade or so, we've gone on to have relatively poor seasons after really bad preseasons. At least going far back as Ancelloti and Mourinho mk2 In Ancellotis 2nd season we had a poor season, although we did recover really well late on to finish 2nd., so the standards for a 'bad season' were different then.
  19. I think their shortfall in recent years has always been the manager. Let's be clear, they were never short on cash with the Glazers, especially because of the money they rake in from revenue. So I don't think the new owners are going to make a difference in that department. What remains to be seen is how they will run the club in general. How tolerant they are of poor results. What kind of footballing people will they install above the manager. Those are still questions that are up in the air. City had a plan. They tried to replicate the management structure that existed in Pep's Barcelona.
  20. Moving Jorginho the way we did was always going to be problematic. He was vice captain and generally well liked in the team. And a bit of an odd choice, considering that we have loads of wingers, and very few CMs.
  21. Rio and Hargreaves are suggesting that Chelsea give Lukaku another chance. 🤣 Such reactionary pundits.
  22. It doesn't look good and most likely isn't behind the scenes, but I feel this clip is reading too much into it. Plus, they had a big team huddle right before kick off on Saturday God knows what they were discussing, though. Maybe they were talking about screwing up just to offload Potter. EdIt: but yes, miss when we used to have 5 international team captains on the pitch playing for us. Drogba., Terry., Ballack, Essien., Carvalho, Lampard.
  23. Are you serious about the club being without CL for years? One year - fine. I've also admitted that Chelsea has been through boom and bust and boom cycles before. It's always a risk with 6 (and now 7) clubs fighting for top 4. Any longer, and it's going to be a disaster financially. We also risk losing players like James., who will be courted by more successful clubs. Since you have compared us with Arsenal before, Arsenal of the past decade is what we'll become if we keep going on this path., and I'll say bollocks to that. Who wants to go through decades of mediocrity and lose all our best players to other clubs, and for what? For a one in a million season that Arteta is having currently? For every Arteta, there are many more Ole's and Moyes type stories. And bear in mind, Chelsea isn't a club that was struggling for top 4. It needs a little surgery, not a resurrection. What is it that justifies taking the club several steps backwards? I can understand supporting Potter and giving him time, but there should be levels to this.
  24. He was allegedly taking English lessons towards the end of his Madrid career. Could mean nothing, since this was when he was linked with the United job. The press could've been on overdrive
