It all hypothical. The point is that CHelsea is still in debt even though all the debt have been cleared. I know the club isn't expected to pay the debt off, but the fact remains the debt exsists (hence the catch 22). In my (second hand) opinion De Bruyne has: great off the ball movement, incredible passing technique, a powerful and very accurate shot, amazing ball control, ambidexterous feet and is a FK specialist. We have no true debt. And it's unlikely Roman would leave, he has sunk a lot of money into the club and it would be fruitless for him to just up and leave besides he has set everything up so his eldest son [Arkadiy] will inherit the club. The only debt the clubs owes is to Roman and since he doesn't need it to be repaid it's kind of a catch-22.
