  1. I have been impressed with him every time I have seen him play. If he's able to replicate his African nations cup performance for us and prove that it wasn't a fluke then we have one hell of a player on our hands and it could well be a straight fight between him and Zouma as JT's long term replacement.
  2. He has impressive vision and passing range for a DM
  3. Given our track record with scouting and stockpiling europes elite youngsters why didn't we make a move for Kovacic before he joined inter. I remember him being hyped up as the next modric at Zagreb. missed the opportunity but it's not too late.
  4. And all of these emotion just because I have a different opinion lmao. take a deep breath kid. It ain't that serious.
  5. This wouldn't be an issue if the player in question isn't completely delusional. Knowing Torres he probably still sees himself as a worldclass striker fully deserving of a starting spot at a top team
  6. I thought he played well. His hold up play was surprisingly good and he made a couple of decent runs.
  7. This is not a kneejerk reaction because I was one of those that opposed his signing in the first place on the basis that He's not a significant upgrade on what we already had in the current squad and out on loan. Would Thorgan, Atsu and Traore be any worse. He's not a bad player, he's technically decent and has room for improvement but he wasn't needed. we should have given the allocation to one of the players out on loan instead imo.
  8. Just glad the season is over. roll on next season.
  9. That's the treasure of Europe apparently. I will say it again, Oscar is by far the most overrated player in the EPL and possibly Europe.
  10. One of the best playmakers they said. lmao
  11. You know you are shit when you are getting outplayed by cardiff
  12. You can't be serious. Let's see Firstly Milan and Inter are no longer European elite. I was referring to current standing, perhaps I should have made it clearer. Arsenal Ozil,Carzola, Koscienly and Mertersacker (this season's form) >>>>> Oscar and Luiz (it's not even debatable really) AM: Miranda, Godin, Koke and Turan >>> Luiz and oscar. again that's a no brainer Barca midfielders are clearly superior to oscar and I have already stated Luiz will get into their defence PSG: Silva,Marquinhos >>> Luiz and again like Juve, their system is AM centric. Dortmund; Subotic,Hummels,Reus and Kuba >>> oscar and Luiz Juventus doesn't play a system that incoporates AM but there midfielders are clearly superior to oscar and there's no way Luiz gets into their rock solid defence. Liverpool;Coutinho,Agger and Skrtel >>> Luiz,Oscar MU: Rooney,Mata>>>Oscar, Evans and Samlling although not as talented as Luiz are far more reliable in Defence.
  13. In what world is 16 goals in 25 apps considered a flop? and that stats becomes even more impressive considering he hasn't been playing in his natural position as a striker. And it's silly to use the fact that he's been shoved out wide against him as his competition in the CF position is one of the top 5 players in the Europe/world in Ibrahimovic. Do explain why it would be ridiculous as I don't have time to rhetorics. Cavani is undoubtedly a proven world class playerand one of the very best in his position. Oscar on the otherhand is just an inconsistent, overrated youngster who may or may not reach his potential (whatever that is) Marquinhos at the time of the transfer was rated accurately, alongside Varane, as the best young player in his position and was the third best defender in serie a behind Silva and Chiellini. no mean feat for such a young player. Luiz however has become a makeshift midfielder under Jose and his performances in defence over the last 16 months hasn't been conssitently good enough to warrant such a fee. Moreover there's a difference between market value and the amount a player actually goes for. Otherwise that would make Andy carroll a £35m striker.
  14. Oscar and Luiz are not key players for us and the only reason it may appear as though they are is due to the quality and depth of our squad which a lot of fans including neutrals seem to overrate. They wouldn't get into any elite side in Europe bar Barcelona (in luiz's case) but only because their defence is so rubbish.
  15. If you mean straight swap then you must be joking. Oscar plus £18m for Cavani would be good business and no one is dumb enough to pay £30 plus for Luiz. we need to stop overrating our players.
  16. How could an interim manager fuck us over. you are implying that the board gave interim that much power and authority which I highly doubt. Even if rafa wanted him out, the ultimate decision still lies with the board. bottomline is Roman,Emenalo and co didn't see sturridge as a valuable asset worth keeping and I suspect football politics was largely at play with the decision. big error of judgement.
  17. I still firmly believe Torres was the main reason we lost Sturridge and he hindered us from strengthening the striker position as we weren't going to bench and write off a £50m investment at the time . He has caused more harm than good and I wished the 2010/11 transfer activity never happened. Sold/released Ballack, Carvalho, Matic, deco Bought Torres,Benayoun, Ramires,Luiz
  18. The difference is when you buy world class players in their prime, you are taking a calculated risk. That's different to buying average players in the hope that they exceed expectation. The former bases judgement on logic and sound reasoning while the latter is based on fallacy and superstitions. You don't make stupid and wild decisions just because nothing in life is a guarantee besides death and taxes.
  19. The one that pisses me off the most is the "wait until we see how he performs for us before judging" By that logic we might as well acquire a bunch of dross players from the conference league in hope that they exceed expectation. afterall we don't know how akinfenwa might perform for us, he might turn out to be another Drogba. like our jersey has supernatural powers that transforms dross into worldlies.
  20. "Ramires and Matic offer us stability" Brace yourself for the inevitable disappointment.
  21. I wasn't thinking that when we were getting outplayed in midfield by Atletico, Man city (stamford bridge and FA cup), Schalke et al or struggling to unlock the defence of Westbrom, Palace, basel et al that's for sure. I don't even think he's better than Ramires and that says a lot. we should be aiming much higher and the "it's a squad game" argument which is often use to justify any signing makes little sense as there are players out on loan or in the academy who can fill in that role and imo be an upgrade over him regardless of age and experience. A player in the ilk of Modric is what we badly need.
  22. I will sell him for £25m+ then use that money to upgrade the CM position and we already have Cahill,JT,Ivanovic,Zouma,Kalas and Omeruo for the CB position. efficient use of resources is vital in these day and age.
