Speaking of crazy fees, Spuds are about to pay £60m for Dom Solanke. Absolutely bang average player.
-
Feels like we’ve signed almost a whole new squad’s worth of teen wonder kids now. It’s insane.
-
I know a lot of our fans have turned on Enzo after an underwhelming season but to suggest Conor is better than him is equally as dumb. All 3 of our current CM’s have talent/potential to be world class. Gallagher is an above average workhorse and nothing more.
-
This is just silly. If you’re this depressed and angry about Chelsea why watch?
-
I’m just trying to look at the positives and I remain pretty optimistic unlike most of our fanbase. No injuries in preseason for Lavia, Nkunku, or Reece so far. Lavia in particular has been a beast. We look as though we actually have a clue in attack now and this is before Palmer & Jackson have even started yet. I think KDH will be very solid for us. I’m not as optimistic as I was earlier in the summer when I figured we’d go big on a marquee striker, winger, and GK but I will choose to think that a side which missed top 4 by the skin of our teeth last season and are now getting 3-4 big players who improve our first XI back from injury will be perfectly capable of fighting for 4th. It’ll be a scrap and probably go to the wire, but our squad is good enough for 4th. There’s no planet on which anyone can say that Newcastle, Villa, United, Spuds, and West Ham have squads more talented than ours and those clubs will all have the thought entering the season that they will finish in the UCL places. So why shouldn’t we?

I predict our incoming business will be done following Omorodion. Then it’s all about trying to move on as many unwanted players as we can. I only see new incomings happening if we carry on conceding silly amounts of goals through the first few PL matches. Then we’ll panic buy a defender again.
-
I just got done watching an extended 8 minute video of Omorodion and wish I hadn’t. 😔😔😔 He looked pretty awful aside from his physicality. He seriously does look like a young Lukaku. His touch and ability on the ball look extremely clumsy and limited. He may cause some problems for defenders merely due to his size and athleticism but I just don’t see the world class potential or talent which has made someone or multiple someone’s at our club obsessed with him.
-
Btw, what in the hell happened to this Kellyman dude we signed for silly money from Villa? Felt like we announced him and then he fell off the face of the earth never to be seen or heard from again. Haven’t heard anything about a loan or what his role is if he stays with us.
-
Welp. Hopefully the addition of Samu doesn’t mean Guiu joins the endless “loan before being sold off 5 years from now” army. Think he’s really got something about him and would be a great alternative weapon off the bench this season for us.
-
I feel like we’re playing with serious fire by adamantly holding out for so much money for Lukaku. If they get sick of us playing hardball and move on to some cheaper alternative, then what? We’re stuck with that anchor yet again.
-
We have a sell-on percentage anyways, right? And as recently as a month or so ago during the Euro’s Guehi was still naming some Chelsea legends as his inspiration so he clearly has affection towards the club despite us selling him. So why not offer them like £35m + Trev or something? I’m 100% sure he’d choose us over bloody Newcastle. But CB being an area the club are looking at hasn’t been mentioned once all summer so 🤷♂️ We have to pray that there’s dramatic improvement with what we have I guess. Maybe the combination of Cucu being inverted plus Lavia and Caicedo all being in midfield will make the defense’s job easier? That’s a lot of highly mobile and athletic legs to screen our CB’s.
-
So why don’t we just…..ya know…. 🤦♂️
-
He looked pretty promising when he first arrived here and I did actually think he’d be a solid squad option this season. But I’ve now come to realize that he’s just not suited to the PL and the primary reason is that he turns like a cruise ship. He is unbelievably slow when he need to recover quickly. think he’d perfectly suit Serie A where they often play walking pace football and his weakness won’t be exposed as much.
-
With Omorodion coming in for £35m I’m extremely skeptical that there’ll be any juice to the Osimhen deal.
-
Is Guehi that sort? I always got the impression that it was Andersen at Palace who was the “boss” of their defense. And as for price, I’ve seen that they want £60-65m for him. I don’t think he’s nearly that level.
-
Eh. For me, Calafiori doesn’t look like the dominant, commanding CB who settles a whole defense. That’s what Saliba is for them. We need that Saliba type as I think Colwill can be our Calafiori as LCB. We need an on-pitch general basically like a JT/Van Dijk who keeps everyone organized and in shape. I’m hoping Tosin can become that as he definitely has leadership qualities from what we’ve seen in training videos. But whether he’s good enough remains to be seen.
-
So who is this beast of a CB that’s out there who we could realistically buy and instantly shore up the defense? All of you are calling for it but who is there? I’m not quite at the panic stage like most Chelsea fans I see on Twitter and elsewhere are about our defense. There were always going to be growing pains in preseason with such a massive shift in playing style. Tbh, I had thought that it would show itself more in attack and possession than in defense but apparently we’ve looked pretty good with the ball? I haven’t watched a single one of these preseason matches. For right now I’ll put it mostly down to teething issues with the new system. I don’t think Colwill, Tosin etc are dogshit players. I’m going to reserve judgement until after the first 3-5 PL matches before panicking. If we concede for fun still then I’ll worry.
-
Notice Caicedo isn’t in the squad. Injured again? And I remember Maresca saying the other day that he’d leave Reece out for the final couple of preseason matches since he was suspended to start the PL campaign? Need to get whoever else settled to stand in for him.
-
I just don’t like Reece at CB. But I don’t see where else makes sense for him in Maresca’s setup. Gusto has looked better and more comfortable inverting and I think it’ll be the same with Cucu when he returns.
-
Yeah, that’s why I ask. If Alvarez isn’t happy with the wages presented by Atleti as Fabrizio says and tanks the deal, what do we do with Connor then? Seems the only way Atleti let Omorodion leave is if they get Alvarez.
-
Wonder wtf we’d do if this Gallagher/Omorodion/Alvarez merry-go-round collapses.
-
Nico Jackson and two raw kids. Maresca has his work cut out for him that’s for sure. We need to hope that Palmer has crazy good output again and that Nkunku bags a bunch of goals too.
-
Reminds me of a young Lukaku in the vids I’ve watched. All the physical tools but not very refined or polished at all. I just don’t get our extreme desire to get him right now. He’s a pure development project when we already have Guiu.
-
So literally nothing has changed since last week’s Osimhen briefing. We’re still basically haggling and trying to find any way possible not to outright buy him it seems. This all has some other club swooping in out of nowhere and getting him after we fuck around for weeks.
-
This talk of potentially using Jackson in the LW. Are we going to sell one of Sterling or Mudryk to make room? When Palmer is back I just assume he’s got the RW locked down and then figured Nkunku for the LW. Because if we bring in an additional TWO strikers that means the Nkunku false 9 experiment becomes unneeded.
