Good player, but he's 30 years old. Surely with Roman's heart set on lowering the age of the squad we wouldnt bring Maicon in when there are much younger options available, right?
-
They'd probably spend a good chunk of it buying Adebayor permanently, restructuring Van der Vaart's contract to make him stay, and going after another cheap striker and Modric replacement.
-
He'd probably "evaluate" the request for 2 weeks before deciding.
-
Knowing Spuds, if Luka did put in a request to leave, they'd be even less likely to sell him.
-
Either bid £35m and get him with cash only, or, knowing how much AVB liked Sturridge, give the £25m + Sturridge. With Hazard, Modric, a new RW, and RB I cannot see us finishing lower than 2nd in the Prem, as well as making a very deep CL run. Modric can be the key to a title challenging/winning side for years to come.
-
Think about it, guys. Bale is using Modric's certain departure as a bargaining tool. He and his agent most likely went to the Spuds board and said make me the highest paid in the club and give me a long contract or I'll walk like Luka.
-
Well ya know....there's a certain striker who plays for Le Arse who's entire family loves London and has 1 year left on his contract. He'd get money, trophy contention, and could stay in London. lol
-
In other words, he considered joining us, saw that our squad was MUCH stronger and he'd have to compete for playing time, and decided to join Arsenal because they're a 1 man team and that 1 man may leave. That's a lot more likely.

If anyone wants a good laugh, go over to the Sky Sports Football page and read the comments in the Ivanovich/Modric article. Spuds fans honestly think they're a bigger club than Chelsea. I just about choked up my breakfast laughing at some of the comments. Just to use twitter as a barometer, Chelsea FC have around 1.2 million followers. Spuds have about 180k. Yep, bigger club.
-
Our board must know for sure that they won't sell to anyone in England. Unless we offered £40m again, I can't see us getting Luka. Would be a dream signing.
-
Good point about the AVB thing.Obviously Hazard was a brilliant signing, but he can't be our be our only elite signing this summer if we're gonna make up that enormous points gap. We know they're working behind the scenes, and hopefully don't take too long to "evaluate the squad" like AVB did and end up regretting it later. The first thing that should happen come this Sunday when the window opens is to sell Malouda.

Making the rounds on twitter:
-
Finding it rather stunning that at the rumored fee of between £25-30m, we've just completely given up on Luka. Put in a bid and see what happens. Chelsea aren't even named as a club even INTERESTED in signing him anymore. Spuds must've either told him that there's no possible way they'd sell him within the EPL, or specifically not us. That, or Roman was so pissed about last window that he refuses to do business with Levy again. Either way, I hope those fucking Spuds suffer next season.
-
So frustrating when a player doesn't have the balls to hand in a formal transfer request after publicly stating they want to move. Just like with Modric last summer. Come on, Hulk. We know you love Porto and won't be viewed as a villain if you leave on good terms. Push this through before a bidding war begins.
-
Just fucking get it done!
-
Yes, you could do that.Or, you can buy someone who's already world class, has the potential to become even better, and would strike fear in opponents. Hulk can be that player.
-
Hope you guys that are saying he'd be a squad player are right. Otherwise, this is what midtable clubs like Liverpool do. Poach cheap players from the likes of Wigan and bottom table clubs. We're European Champions and should be bringing in proven, instant impact, world class players. Moses would be a great squad player, though.
-
Knew the Hulk deal would have some snags or be off completely, but I thought we'd at least go after another world class player. I know Moses is a good player, but is he even in Hulks league? Seems like a massive step down.
-
Yann M'Vila?
-
@Justin- LOL
-
We definitely can. All down to the smug, bald prison warden Levy that's keeping him locked up.We should come in at £30m and test his resolve. If Modders sees that we really want him, he could the force his move.
-
It's not like Lamps wouldn't get playing time. Now that he's won the ultimate prize, he can relax a bit, take a lesser role, and not feel as though his window to win the CL is closing. He'd still get plenty of minutes and can play a vital role in the many competitions we're in.We bring in Hulk/other RW and Debuchy/other RB who's good defensively and going forward, and Modric, we'll be title favorites. Europe can be ours.
-
People on twitter saying there's no where to play him... Are they blind?
-
That's exactly why I'm praying United don't buy him. He's too good to just give up interest on. Even if we need to get into a bidding war between us and United, we should. He's a piece who could help transform either side into a dominant team.
