Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski gone. Targets like Suarez and Rooney seem impossible because their teams won't want to sell to direct rivals. Cheaper alternatives that we've previously been linked with like Higuain and Gomez are gone or just about gone. Only highly rated striker that I can think of right now that hasn't moved is Jovetic.
-
Wouldn't have thought Lamps a Ferrari guy. Nice!
-
You really think Wenger would pay that kind of cash?
-
Is pretty incredible that we'll likely start another season with Torres as first choice striker.
-
It's not like his game relies on pace or high athleticism. When I was watching him for Italy during the Confeds these past few weeks he reminded me of Michael Carrick form this past season. Never looks like he's overly exerting himself. It's as though its effortless to him. Just sprays the ball around accurately and is very composed and calm in possession.
-
Exactly.De Rossi + a striker and its business done and ready for preseason.
-
C'mon guys. Do you really think Suarez would act out to the degree he does at Liverpool when he's not THE star man and the one who's expected to do everything for a midtable side like Liverpool? I'm not excusing his stupid actions but you can just tell he's super frustrated in that side knowing that his teammates aren't nearly as good as he is. He took those frustrations out on opposing players which was idiotic. If he was in Chelsea's side I just find it hard to believe that if he had other world class players around him and we were competing for everything AND coached by the best manager in the world that Suarez would be throwing his team under the bus. If he's helping the team push for the title and playing Champions League games I think he'd be doing everything in his power to stay out of trouble. I don't know if I buy the rumor that we want him, but if Jose, Roman, and the board think that they can handle him and think he can be kept under control then we'd have arguably the best striker in the league.
-
So Moyes wants him to stay but doesn't seem like Rooney wants to. If he does though, Cavani to PSG, Falcao to Monaco, Higuain Arsenal... Who's left for us!?
-
So once AGAIN PSG showing that they don't give a flying fuck about FFP. They'll have the most expensive side in football and still won't win the one trophy they're desperate for. And I'll be laughing the whole time.
-
Exactly this.Lukaku gets a nice run of games to start the season while Suarez settles in with the lads and life in London for a new club. Then he slots in and knows his teammates and will be hungry(no pun intended) to hit the ground running.
-
Just don't understand how the top 2 strikers who were available this summer are both gonna be playing in the 5th best league in Europe. Had their pick of just about any top clubs in the world and choose to go there for mega bucks.
-
If there's any manager in the world who could tame the beast that is Suarez it's Jose. Suarez hasn't played for a manager of the calibre of Mourinho or been in a side with players as good as ours with ambition to win everything. I think he'd thrive here on the pitch and the environment we'd provide him would keep a lid on the cuntish shit he does. Hell, maybe if we're lucky we can ship Torres back the other way.
-
Do that and forget winning the league. We need to ship one or both of Torres and Ba and buy a world class striker. Ask yourself this: Which top club throughout Europe who's ambitions are to win league and Champions League titles would line up with Torres or Ba as first choice strikers? Answer: ZERO! So why should Chelsea!? We have the weakest strike force of any of the 3 clubs that should be in for the english title next season. PSG, Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Madrid, Milan, ect ALL have better strikers than we do. We have the funds to buy one.
-
Zlatan, we're here for ya. Please don't pull a Falcao, Edinson. Show a little more ambition than the French league.
-
We should also seriously consider buying Luke Shaw now as Cole's replacement and loaning him back to Southampton for the season before City or United go sniffing around. We know he's a Chelsea fan and I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to sign for us.
-
Try someone with common sense. How many times recently have we heard about us spending more reasonably and supporting FFP? Can you really see us spending all that cash on Cavani and then going out and spending millions and millions more on other players? You think we'll spend another 80m in one window? Possible I suppose, but I wouldn't think so.
-
Rooney > Higuain Rooney for £30m with a bunch of cash to invest in a world class midfielder or £55m for Cavani and struggle to buy a top class midfielder due to FFP?
-
Absolutely hilarious that United fans are saying that he's worth £40m for anyone else but £50m if its Chelsea. They're scared shitless about the potential of this side with a proper striker.
-
Agreed.Just about the same as RvP. He'd be a big time impact player for us.
-
Unless Rooney expressly tells Moyes and United that he wants to join us and makes a fuss about it and refuses to play, there's no way he's gonna be sold for £20m to a title rival like us. I'd say £25-30m minimum. Would love him here though.
-
And like I've said before, the club that's in the most dire need of midfield reinforcement (US!) has yet to sign anyone. Not even legitimately linked to any. Only bullshit twitter rumors. He'll be a very good signing for them as will Fernandinho for City. Both will have very athletic, powerful midfields while we have a 35 year old Lampard, a plank of wood Mikel, and an unproven Romeu who looks to be going on loan. I know there's some shit going down behind the scenes, but I wish we'd sign a central midfielder already!
-
While I'd be really sad to see Ramires go, I wouldn't mind as long as we got a top class central midfielder to replace him.Yes, he's got a ridiculous engine and pace and can put in a nice tackle, but for the most part his passing accuracy is abysmal and he can be overly aggressive defensively and gives away stupid fouls. I'd guess that Ramires is worth £20m + so the thought of us giving Napoli £40m AND a player worth that seems pretty unbelievable. Plus Jose told Ramires he wants him personally.
-
How about we just give them Torres and they can keep El Shaarawy.
-
Annoying that he's gone to Spuds. Looks too good for them. A bit depressing and sad that a team who has such a strict wage structure and no Champions League football to offer has a central midfield that's leaps and bounds better than ours. Sandro, Dembele, and now Paulinho. We should really get Gustavo. Quietly does a perfect job there for Brazil.

Would look even nicer with a natural DM.
