Wouldn't say they're about the same price. There's a pretty huge difference between £20m and £30m. I'm so on the fence about this situation. Either would be GREAT signings but one may only be great for a few years while the other may be great for 15. We have the money to splurge, though....
-
Liverpool have bid £25m for Lallana. English tax at work again. He's a £15-20m player at the most.
-
Because Evra is shit and old? Shaw will get the bulk of the games with Evra as cover and his mentor for a season to help him settle.Basically how it should be here with Ash and Shaw.
-
I just question when and where he'll actually play. Will he be like Ba was for us this season and come on in the 80th minute or later in desperation time? Will he he be a depth signing for lesser cup games?Like you say, not a bad signing by any means, but I just don't think his impact will be very minimal.
-
Warming to the idea more and more. I'd still love Shaw, but I think Luis will instantly bed in and hit the ground running. He'd be one of, if not the best LB in the league straight away and even though it may only be for a few seasons, oh well. I'd be happy with this signing. Tiago not so much.
-
Fortunately finding a good fullback will be much easier (and cheaper) than signing a world class striker. Just fucking imagine how incredible we'd be with Agüero right now...
-
Lallana would be a pretty nice addition but the others are mediocre in my opinion. Liverpool are the only top side that Lambert or Lovren would get into I'd say.As for Suarez and Sturridge, I'd be amazed if they're able to replicate last seasons form. They'll still be really good but I'd like to hope teams will start to catch on and not just roll over and get fucked like most of them did last season.

I see the muppets on twitter going wild because Shaw has just followed a bunch of United players. Looks like this one is edging closer and closer with " talks set to resume today" between the clubs. It's almost certainly going to be one we'll regret letting slip away from us in the future, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
-
I'd be delighted to see Liverpool buy a bunch of average players rather than some actual top class ones like I figured they'd try to do. None of the Southampton players that they want really strike fear or worry into me. These look like a few bodies to fill out their squad rather than players who will swing the title in their odds.

It had to have been frustrating for Eden having to take on 2-3 defenders almost every time he got the ball. Even with those 2-3 defenders he still managed a great season and was our best player.Imagine how good he'd look with a decoy up there with him who defenders actually have to worry about and account for. They didn't have to do that with Azpi since he rarely ever overlapped and played off of Eden. Shaw or RR would help take Eden to a whole new level. A level where he's in Ballon d'or territory.

Oscar isn't very creative at all... He has very little creative vision in and around the box and often just puts his head down and has a shot.
-
Yeah, I think people need to disregard that 65m (which was in € by the way) rumor. Was clearly some made up bullshit on twitter. Don't think there's a chance they'd turn that down and honestly I think he can be had for significantly less than that. If we offered £35-45m I think we can get him.
-
Perfect signing for them, tbh. Speedy little attacking midget. Not a signing I'd worry about at all. Not very impressed by him really.
-
I think Hazard and Oscar are two untouchables in José's eyes. He won't sell either of them.
-
Pogba, Rakitic, Vidal, Cesc, Kroos, Witsel, Koké. Any fucking one of these players would be a huge upgrade and we can afford any one we want. I'd be over the moon with any of them. Pogba would be top of the order for me personally, but we need to get one of these top class players.
-
It's not just playing in Serie A and the Europa League. It's starting for one of the world's biggest clubs, winning titles, and playing against some of Europe's elite sides. None if which our kids have done.
-
If we signed Shaw, Pogba, and Costa we'd dominate and win this league at a canter. We have the funds to do so and some are against that. I understand that some of you want to "bring in the kids," but that should be done on merit and not just "because." If the better ones go on Premier League loans for a year or two and stand out THEN they can be given a shot in the first team. Some of you are talking about taking 17 or 18 year old teenagers who have been playing at Championship or U21 level and throwing them into the first team at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Astounding to me. Send Chalobah, RLC, Lew Baker, Bamford, etc to bottom table Prem sides for a season or two and see if they're ready. In the mean time we need players who are proven at the highest level and can help us win NOW.
-
Very young, marketable, in a position of need, perfect physique to settle immediately in this league, and potential to be absolutely world class. Yeah, €65m sounds excessive, but can we really complain about that when we just sold Luiz for an equally absurd fee? He'd be an instant upgrade and would add a lot to our team. French speaking like several of our players so could settle quickly and I trust José to further develop him. People would obviously turn their noses up at such a crazy fee, but I for one wouldn't care what we paid for him.
-
Every time I see "Exclusive" in a Daily Fail article I immediately discredit it. That's how you know it's bullshit. Just yesterday those idiots ran an "exclusive" about Aaron Ramsey needing surgery and a few minutes later he's on twitter saying it wasn't true. Happens every week.
-
United, Arse, and Liverpool will all likely invest heavily and improve and City will be formidable as usual. I think next season will be even more challenging than this past one was. Signing Tiago and letting some young players in the team won't help us achieve our goals. Maybe if we win the league then the following season we can start bringing the young guys through when the manager has a bit more leeway. José will be under massive pressure to deliver this season and I honestly think if he doesn't bring home a major piece of silverware he could be sacked. When you're under that kind of pressure can you really risk playing the kids? We'd still have the exact same frustrating and infuriating issues we've had for a couple of years now. The new striker may get a few more goals than Torres, but we'd have very little creativity in midfield and our buildup play would be tedious and labored. We need a pace setting creative player in midfield and it would be a huge mistake not to bring one in.
-
Are any of them other than MvG even close to ready to step into one of Europe's biggest and best teams? Honestly. You really think these teenagers are ready to regularly play in the best league in the world? I can say right now with confidence that if our only real noteworthy addition going into next season is up top well still fall short of the title. We aren't winning the league with that headless chicken Ramires as an every match starter. We NEED an upgrade in midfield. Not 18 year old unproven kids. Top class, ready now, immediate impact player who can slot in and be an instant upgrade.
-
I thought it was obvious to everyone here that Lamps was staying for another season. He clearly is. We don't need to sign Tiago. José speaks constantly about wanting to usher in a new era of Chelsea players. Don't see how bringing in a 34 year old accomplishes that. We have more than enough veteran leadership. We need a young, top class midfielder with potential not a player at the end of his career.
-
He really does look like the prototypical Real Madrid signing, doesn't he? In a position they absolutely do not need and a flashy, big name. Those are Real Madrid's two biggest transfer criteria. I'd give my left nut to see him here. We have plenty of money. More than enough to afford him and still buy a top class striker AND Luke Shaw. Unfortunately it seems that José loves bloody Ramires too much.
-
Southampton are going to be ripped apart this summer. Shaw, Lallana, their manager... Only a matter of time before Rodriguez and their other good players are picked off too.
-
lolEven if it were legit I personally wouldn't lose sleep over it. Wouldn't be overly excited by him signing and won't be devastated or anything if he doesn't. Just throw money at PSG for Cavani. They could use the money to fund a move for Yaya.
