A club that has employed some of the biggest and best managers in the world and won the biggest trophies is appointing a guy who wouldn’t even be under consideration by clubs near the bottom of the league. It’s like someone is playing a sick joke on us.
-
Leaves Strasbourg in similar shit form to what we’re in. Sure does inspire a lot of confidence…
-
Rosenoir definitely comes across well in interviews and press conferences. Seems like a likable, intelligent guy. But that doesn’t mean he’s anywhere close to ready for the step up to Chelsea.
-
Curious what sort of length of contract they’re going to hand him. If they give him a long contract it’ll be pretty laughable and horrendous from a business POV because you know there’s a 99% chance he’ll be out quickly. So if you give him a 4-5 year contract you’re just setting yourself up for yet another big payoff. But if they hand him something like an 18 month, 1+1, or 2 year contract you instantly undermine a manager who will already have a huge uphill battle to command respect from these players.
-
Spot on. He’s a guy with so little cache and so little accomplishment that he literally couldn’t possibly go against these owners/directors. For whatever it’s worth, Maresca had at least been a winner before joining us and then built up his reputation after winning a couple of trophies and finishing 4th. That built up credit in the bank allowed him to voice his displeasure in how the clowns were running things. Rosenoir will be so insanely fortunate and lucky to be handed this job that he doesn’t belong in that he will toe the line like a good little puppet and work with whatever he is given. Get ready for our summer window to consist of merely bringing over the Strasbourg guys he has worked with (Emegha, Sarr, and Penders) and with Colwill returning + Quenda that’ll be it. No top class players are going to sign for Liam Rosenoir.
-
How the fuck do you even pronounce his name?
-
If current Wolves who are possibly one of the worst sides in PL history suddenly appointed Rosenoir I think even their fans would probably be angry and saying he’s not good enough for them. And yet Chelsea Football Club is going to hand him the keys. A guy with the type of CV that would attract clubs from the Championship or dregs of the PL as a long shot punt in hopes that he could be good. One of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world is going to install someone woefully unqualified after just sacking a guy who himself was unqualified and didn’t work in the end. Madness.
-
We genuinely feel completely cooked as a club. When Rosenoir inevitably looks in way over his head and we finish midtable we’ll be right back to looking for a new manager in 6 months. If he even lasts that long. We’ll then look even more like a shit show for sacking the guy who we sacked the previous guy for within the span of a few months. Why not just fucking appoint a true interim now and then wait to see who is available and willing to come here once the season is over? Why jump to appoint a guy who nobody from the players to the supporters will respect? Feels like intentional sabotage of a great club.
-
Imagine what happens in the summer window when we’ll presumably be competing with loads of other big PL clubs for the same players. What player worth a damn is going to be swayed speaking to Liam fucking Rosenoir? Or for a club that could sack said manager in 6 months time? Or for a club that will pay you half of what you’d get at the other big boys?
-
May as well just stop with all the names. It’s Rosenoir. It probably has been their one and only candidate for a month once the Maresca noise started. Hell, it may have been their choice before they even appointed Maresca that Rosenoir would eventually become Chelsea manager. We could offer Klopp a £20m per season salary and he wouldn’t even pick up the phone. Someone like him (or any world class manager) wouldn’t touch this ownership/director model with a 50ft pole.
-
Does anyone honestly believe that Rosenoir will command any respect from the egos in our squad? Or have the autonomy to make big decisions about who to play? Let’s say for instance he doesn’t fancy Enzo Fernandez and drops him for Andrey Santos who performed so well for him last season will the owners who laid £105m for him allow that? No chance, imo.
-
Ornstein and others re-confirming that Maresca has been talking behind our backs to City several times recently. Incredibly unprofessional and disgraceful from him even when considering the clowns we have in charge.
-
It’s as good as confirmed. Every reliable person is saying it.
-
Liam fucking Rosenoir. I just cannot believe this. A manager who isn’t even lighting it up in a farmers league and who will surely need even longer than Maresca to wrap his head around PL football.
-
Supporters at the stadium need to make the directors’ positions untenable. Banners, booing them, incessant pressure for as long as it takes for them to be pushed out.
-
Whether it’s City or elsewhere Maresca will land at a great destination and probably go on to have a very good managerial career. He was set up for failure here but still didn’t make the best of what he was given and in the end was probably 1 more terrible result away from being sacked purely on footballing grounds anyways. I’m genuinely terrified of what depths our club will sink to in the immediate future if we actually appoint Rosenoir.
-
Hope Maresca reveals EVERYTHING to the media about what led to this. Tell us what’s going on with the directors etc so we know exactly where to direct our anger. If they try to play the “this was only about results on the pitch” card we know they’re lying.
-
It’s about style of play and extracting the maximum from what you’ve got. When I watch Iraola’s side play I’ve been very impressed. Likewise Marco Silva. They both get given very little in the market and in Iraola’s case his team was completely picked apart this past summer so I feel like it’s harsh to judge him based on this current run of form. Lost their captain, their two starting CB’s, their star LB (at the time) and have had a bunch of injuries. Look, I’m not saying he’s prime Mourinho or something but I’ve liked what I’ve seen. I wouldn’t be losing my head if we went for him like I will if they chose Rosenoir.
-
Iraola or Emery I’d take in a heartbeat. Glasner I’m not sure about. Marco Silva is an excellent coach but has that same sort of “takes no shit” personality that Maresca has and he’d probably clash with the board just like Enzo has eventually. I fucking love Conte and feel a hard man/authoritarian manager like him is exactly what this club needs. I’d take him back in an instant. But this board would never bring someone in who would call their shit out and drag them.
-
Four managers since these guys took over the club. The first one they ran out because he clashed with their “vision” and refused to fall in line with amateurs who knew nothing about football. They then spent an absurd amount of money to go raid Brighton for their top choice who lasted a blink of an eye because he was totally out of his depth. And next both Poch and now Maresca will both go because they fall out with the hierarchy. What a shambolic joke. And these are the same idiots that will be picking our next manager? Why are they not being sacked just like Maresca will be? Appointing the Strasbourg manager who no other club in the top half of the PL would even give a second look is criminal. We’re in this current mess in large part because the squad is so young and naive. So we may appoint a manager who has ZERO big club experience and will be under immense pressure from day 1? There needs to be massive protest by local supporters and boycotts if they do this shit. They’re running a massive club into the ground permanently.
-
Writing is on the wall judging by these latest reports from Ben Jacobs. I think he’s as good as gone. If we appoint Rosenoir this club is cooked for the foreseeable future. He’s a manager that a club like Palace or West Ham would take a punt on if their current ones leave. You don’t replace one manager who was new to handling a top PL club with someone else who is the same. If Maresca goes we HAVE to appoint an interim boss for the rest of the season and then assess our options come summer.
-
If I personally had to place blame it would be maybe 70% the owners/directors fault and 30% on Maresca. The recruitment by and large has been abysmal and the wage + age cap’s have severely affected said recruitment. They haven’t given Maresca the tools to compete with Arse/City etc like we should be doing. Even when he was asking publicly for a specific thing that we badly needed (a top CB) they ignore him. At the same time though, Maresca has not come close to maximizing the talent and squad we have. There is no way on Earth a squad with Reece James, Palmer, Caicedo, Estevão, Cucu, Enzo etc should be miles and miles behind Aston Villa, never mind the actual title contenders. It’s obvious that we severely lack quality in a couple of super key positions (striker & CB) but this is still a squad that should be comfortably finishing in the top 4 without much worry as is. That even 4th seems a super long shot at this point is unacceptable and insane and that’s why Maresca’s job is and SHOULD be under threat. If we get smoked and embarrassed by City this weekend I think he’s hanging on by a thread. One more poor result after that match and I think he’s gone.
-
We’re in a serious bind in that there isn’t anyone out there to replace him midseason who would turn things around in any meaningful way. So while I do believe it’s possible he goes I’m not sure it’ll do anything positive for us the rest of this season. It would surely be an interim coach because no top manager is out of work and no top manager who is currently employed would leave their club midseason to jump into this shit show. Could we see JT or Ashley Cole come in for a few months? Maybe. All I know is that of these clowns eventually appoint Rosenoir the fans will explode.

To watch as a club we used to clown on and dominate for like 15 years transform into the best side in Europe with a super bright future whilst we have simultaneously collapsed into mediocre nothingness is depressing. They’re top of the league, have a fantastic squad, fantastic structure above the players from the manager to the directors. And Arteta is talking about ADDING MORE quality to the team next month. Meanwhile, we are completely lost as a club and I don’t see any way for things to get better in the future. We’ve once again saddled ourselves with a load of players who are nowhere near good enough and how will we get rid of them? Who is going to want these guys? And how the hell can we trust these jokers in charge who signed Gittens, Garnacho, Delap, etc? Unlike in the past where we sacked a manager and either got a bounce or had something to look forward to, I don’t think sacking Maresca does anything for us. His replacement will likely be worse with these directors picking him. Short of the owners saying fuck it and doing away with their precious wage cap and age requirements I don’t see any optimism that things will change in the coming years.

Dead atmosphere in the ground, dead team on the pitch. All of this talent, all of the money spent and we look this dreadful. An 18 year old kid playing in a new league and new country looks our best player. We may tumble to midtable by the end of this weekend.
