  1. I think it's pretty clear by the players he's targetted that he wants to play aggressive, front foot attacking football. But when we're missing both starting wingers who are aggressive, front foot players, your new LB who loves more than anything to get forward, and are forced to shuffle players around out of their ideal positions (Mount and Havertz) I think this is the result. We look lost. I think Frank wants to play much like Liverpool where we press teams into oblivion and assert ourselves. Habing a cool head in central defense who can also spray the ball around and keeper who isn't an inter clown should indeed instantly improve us. Everything else will take time.
  2. Ziyech, Pulisic, Chilwell, Silva, and Mendy to come in. I have full faith we will look a million miles better once these players come in. How can we not? I'm not going to slate Frank until he has his full compliment of players. If we still look poor then questions can start to be asked if he's good enough to be managing this squad. Far too soon for that now.
  3. Not sure why people are singling out Havertz. He wasn't awesome or anything but he was okay. You'd think he had a shocker or something. He didn't. I just fucking HATE that Ziyech and Pulisic have to get injured at the worst possible time. Forces us to play Havertz wide against Brighton and up top against Liverpool. Yes, he has played both positions before but he has zero understanding with his teammates yet. Annoying how Frank won't just play him at #10 where he can get involved more and have options in front and around him. Not worried about Kai at all. Werner looks amazing already so that's a bonus. But we need our new boys in soon. Really soon.
  4. Mason has been horrendous and miles off his standard these two games and is untouchable apparently.
  5. I actually thought Havertz was considerably better than the first match here. Starting to get some good touches and passes going. Now yanked off at halftime. Understandable I guess but disappointing.
  6. At least Silva can now slot straight in for the weak ass AC next match. Not even watching this second half. On to the next match in my mind.
  7. What in the ever living fuck was AC thinking? Why would you fucking bear hug a player through on goal? Fuck sake.
  8. Can not get a sniff of the ball on our own pitch..
  9. No real wingers again and Alonso in a back 4 when he was already terrorized against Brighton last week. 😣 At least Kova coming back in should help us a bit I hope. Don't have much belief that we can win this sadly. Not with the players we have missing. Promised myself I wouldn't get mad if we lose here and I won't so long as we put up a tough fight and look much improved from last weekend.
  10. Really didn't want to see Havertz out wide against Liverpool. For me he should only ever play there against teams we will dominate. Big mistake I think. He could be chasing shadows all game.
  11. Even if we do go try to bring him back I doubt he even considers it. He'll want to be a guaranteed starter every week. Would be silly if we didn't negotiate first refusal at the very least since we know the club and Frank rate him. It's not as though we thought he wasn't good enough. We did rate him highly. Wonder if there's any ill feelings from Tariq that we chose Reece over him.
  12. The main thing he's got that Reece doesn't is that hyper-aggressive mentality. Lamptey wants to take his man on every time he gets the ball and is always looking to sprint down the channels. Reece is more easy going and cautious. Think the only question that has to be answered for Lamptey is how well he holds up physically over a long season due to his tiny size. Once opponents figure out how good he is they'll start targeting him. We'll see if he can handle that. Lightning pace + confident, aggressive attitude is a deadly combo, though.
  13. He's ridiculously quick! Christ! Bet you he ends up at City next summer.
  14. I really like this, too. But unfortunately I think we'll see Kai pushed out wide again so that Mount can be in the team. Frank will want his workrate I feel. And I just don't see Havertz having the impact we hope he does out wide until he's completely settled.
  15. God help us all if Alonso starts in a back 4 against Salah.
  16. Surely announced first thing Monday morning then.
  17. Fulham may genuinely finish with a record low number of points this season. They're embarrassingly poor. Imagine how much worse they'll look once the fixtures start piling up as well.
  18. I rate him too, but if you would've asked me what I figured he'd go for I'd have said ~£25m. If someone had bought him for that earlier this summer I would think to myself "yeah, that price sounds about right."
  19. That's a fuck load of money for Jota, wow. For a squad player. He wasn't even one of Wolves' best 5 players!
  20. Salah, Mané, Robertson, TAA. All bought in for reasonable or no fees and have become world class under him. Even bang average players like Henderson and Milner have gone up a level under him. They've bought some duds, yes, but still. Odds on players improving considerably there are sadly pretty damned high.
  21. I know Jota has been solid for Wolves but he has never really caught my eye as the type that was destined for a top club or who would become a top player. Considered him good but not great. There are about 3-4 other Wolves players that I'd have before him. But knowing Klopp he'll probably mould him into a world beater like Mané & Salah. 😒
  22. Unlike other deals we've done like Havertz or Chilwell that were super complicated, Mendy seems like he'd be the most straightforward one to complete and yet we get conflicting reports daily. There's probably some truth in the reporting that Rennes know we're utterly desperate and are playing hardball with the price. We'll probably end up having to pay closer to 30m than the 20m that was initially reported. Just hope he's in goal for the next match after Liverpool so he can quickly get acclimated to the team and league.
  23. For me this match is a free hit. Super early in the season, 5 or so players that would be in our best XI will be missing, and basically a whole new attack who haven't worked together before. We get a point or an unlikely 3 points, great. If we lose it's not deflating at all or a preview of what's to come. We are nowhere near the side now that we will be down the line when the real hectic mayhem starts. All I want to see this weekend is improvement. And not to get embarrassed by Liverpool.
