City in full flow and top form are just ridiculously scary. Sadly think this will finally be their year in the CL.

Palace getting absolutely hammered here all match by Leicester. Bodes well for us next weekend if we are as aggressive in our pressing as Leicester have been. And this is with Gallagher playing.

Dembele or Raphinha would be the most ideal, but both will likely be playing together at Barca next season. Gnabry would be very interesting but from what I’ve seen on Twitter over the last few days he’s apparently asking for stratospheric wages. But he’d be amazing with the German connection here.

Imagine how sick our attack would be with just one ruthless killer up there with Kai and Mase. If we had a Mané/Salah/Son/Sterling up there putting constant pressure on defenses and scoring about 15 PL goals per season. Those attacking relationships at Liverpool, City, Spuds etc have been built up for like 5 years. We need a young, hungry wide forward to pair with Kai and Mason who can grow and build for the next few years playing match after match together. Who’s out there that fits the profile?

It really is fucking stupid how everyone else in the league manages to sign these brilliant goal scoring wide players but every one we sign flops or fails to live up to their potential. It’s a position we desperately need to address this summer. The wide forward position has become more dangerous than the striker position.

Thankfully Spuds still have the derby coming up where they’ll likely go all Spursy and lose and they have to go to Anfield I believe. So whilst they are creeping up on us a bit I think we’re very safe.

If Spuds choke against Villa this will have been a dream weekend after a nightmare previous week. And Top 4 will be secure.

TIMOOOOO Finishkng has been unlucky today until that but he has been an absolute menace. This is the Werner of Leipzig down to a T.

Whilst he hasn’t been tested whatsoever defensively yet, RLC looks MUCH more dangerous when he’s got acres of open space to run into out wide.

Feels like if we don’t put in a BIG TIME performance and win convincingly here our season will unravel completely right at the business end. If we lose 3 straight games in humiliating fashion and then have Real Madrid again midweek I’m not sure we’d recover mentally. This is the kind of match where we need our biggest players to step the fuck up. Win this and head to Madrid with some confidence that we can at least make them worry a bit.

Looking ahead to beyond this season, what we really need in order to attack the CL again next season is a couple of high quality wide players to surround Kai with. Enough trying to sign expensive #9’s. We desperately need to identify the next Jota/Luis Diaz/Son type. We need this sort of aggressive wide forward type who puts relentless pressure on defenses. It’s what we all thought we’d get with Werner. Saw it up close with Vini Jr today. You see it with Mbappe and lately Dembele at Barca. Werner is done here, CHO will never live up to his early promise, Ziyech is not that sort of player, and Pulisic is too wildly inconsistent. If we can have Chilly and Reece fully fit and sign a couple of top class support players for Kai we will be so dangerous.

Must be said, btw, that Mendy makes mistakes on a regular basis. He is capable of excellent saves and is as good as anyone with his hands but he makes idiotic decisions quite often with his feet. A dreadful clearance here, coming out of his area and not kicking the ball away there. He’ll punch rather than catch too often. This is why he will never be more than a very good keeper and not at the truly elite level that Ederson and Allison are at.

I’m annoyed but it’s hard to be too devastated after we won it last season. It’s unbelievably hard to retain this thing. When we go out next week I’ll be supporting ANYONE but the English teams.

There’s just zero resistance for either cross on their goals. The defending from wide areas is nonexistent.

Murdering us down that side over and over again. Christensen can’t live with Vinicius and James is nowhere in support. International break seems to have totally broken our defensive solidity.

Other than Kova not starting that’s probably the best we can do. Hopefully a more energetic and forceful performance than at the weekend. And then we can send on Lukaku and Kova to run at tired legs later on if the game is tight.

Nearly impossible to be worse than that today and I’m sure we’ll be much better against RM, but you never want to get embarrassed like that. Can’t be good for confidence heading into such a massive game.

Werner and Alonso should not wear a Chelsea shirt again this season. RLC should not start another game this season. He should be nothing more than a body to come in as a late sub. And we better hope Christensen, James, and Pulisic are ready to start against Madrid and that these niggling injuries that Mendy and Kante picked up today are small. They’ll be watching this and licking their lips.
