They’re going to look mighty stupid if in just a few days we have a new owner. If I’m the new guy I’m terminating that deal and telling them to fuck off. Once the Abramovich “cloud” subsides I’m sure we’ll have no issue finding a main shirt sponsor just as lucrative as Three were.

With a decent new owner in place I think the only massive change may be that the era of buying £80m-£100m players is over. We won’t be competing for the ready made superstar transfers any longer. That’s sad, but so long as we have a world class manager like Tuchel who can improve and extract the best out of talent it won’t be fatal. We’re just going to have to get creative and smart. Spending mega money on individuals doesn’t automatically mean you’ll win. We can take an approach like Liverpool have which is carefully scouting players with very specific characteristics that fit the managers style. They are often players that aren’t highly sought after by other big clubs and only cost £30-40m. Liverpool have been great at signing players from lesser PL clubs or from medium sized clubs in Europe. Even if our new ownership isn’t as wealthy and willing to pump huge sums as Roman was we should still be right there in the mix for the foreseeable future. Our core will still be here long term and that core is still comfortably better than everyone other than the top 2. Broja back, Connor back, couple of smart buys in, couple of busts currently in the ranks out. I fully expect we’ll be a top 4 club next season assuming this ownership deal gets sorted soon.

I know nothing about Nick but as someone who’s into real estate I know about his brother who developed probably the most expensive condo building in central London amongst other developments. He doesn’t seem to be that rich, though. So he’d have to be a part of a large consortium and I doubt he’d be the main decision maker if his group took over. Honestly, the best case for us at this point seems to be the Boehly/Wyss group. At least Boehly has plenty of experience in elite sport and will know about building teams. Getting an amateur who knows fuck all about football in a time of chaos and crisis like this doesn’t sound like a good idea. We need a calming, steady handover.

Really hope something can be sorted within the next week and that Newcastle is the last game we have to play with this all swirling around the club. Really not fair on everyone employed at the club to have this hanging over their heads long term. I would think Roman wants this to be as painless as he can do. So it’s probably all going to come down to how smoothly this bent government can allow things to go forward. Getting a new owner or ownership group in next week would lift the mood in a major way.

If one of Reece or Azpi are missing this weekend Newcastle will rip us to shreds on the counter. And they’ll really fancy themselves either way.
-
Kante, Kante, Kante. My word, what a player. Killed the game dead when he came in.
-
Chalobah is an absolute liability defensively just like Sarr. He’s so rash and brainless at times. Come the fuck on, man. He’s going to lose the points for us if he keeps this up.
-
Bottom side in the league bossing the game… 🙄
-
We’ve completely stopped playing just as I feared before half time. We assumed the game was over and Norwich would just give up. This is some Lampard era play in the second half. Weak mentality. City or Liverpool would have gone for the jugular and score 5-6 by now.
-
Fuck sake, man. We need to wake up. That’s a clear pen. We’ve done this to ourselves. Everything great we did in the first half we’ve totally stopped in the second half.
-
Norwich gaining confidence now. Need a 3rd to kill the game.
-
Azpi now inured? ANOTHER fullback injury, ffs.
-
We’re 2-0 up and in cruise control, but 1 fluke corner or break and they’re right back into it with belief that they can get something. Half time talk needs to be that we are aggressive out of the blocks again and score a 3rd. Can’t just think this is over because we’ve dominated so far. Norwich can’t be worse after Smith lays into them.
-
Get the fuck in there. Havertz has been spectacular once again here.
-
Would be an upgrade to the 3 logo tbh
-
Not a whole lot of pace to pull a Norwich side around that struggle desperately against that.
-
United fans, Liverpool fans, and Arse fans constantly complain about their American owners. But Woody Johnson would be even worse. At least those owners have shown that they can build successful clubs, though perhaps not exactly in the way or as quickly as their supporters want. Johnson is the owner of one of the worst run, most incompetent franchises in all of American sports.
-
Woody Johnson would be an absolute nightmare. Come on, Boehly, PLEASE!
-
Now our shirt sponsor is suspending their deal with us. If a sale isn’t quickly organized at this point there may not be a Chelsea Football Club for much longer. What the fuck happens if we can no longer pay the players? This has to be completed ASAP.
-
Reading through that Swiss Ramble thread something that sticks out as totally absurd is that Man City have such insane revenue figures compared to Chelsea, Liverpool, and United. A club that has a tiny global fan base compared to those others and nobody gives a shit about outside of Manchester. Yet it’s perfectly okay for them to essentially sponsor themselves and funnel money into the club.
-
Okay, that’s more promising. We just have to hope it happens quickly now.
-
Not up to him anymore, is it? He has to hand the reigns over to the government who will sell to whichever idiot greases their pockets the most.
-
Think this is sadly the nail in the coffin for Rüdiger staying. So he and AC are off. Think Azpi is the sort of man that will stay on and help the club through tough times. The man I’m most worried about is Tuchel. If things implode on the pitch now due to the chaos off it, will he want to stick around this summer? If a new owner is in place quickly I think he will stay. But if this drags on for months and destroys our ability to improve his team I think he may walk.
-
Since murderous, human rights abusing, anti-LGBT, anti-woman’s rights Arab states are deemed perfectly fit and proper to become PL owners, I guess our last prayer now is that some king or prince from the Gulf now comes in and scoops us up at a massive cut price. God knows the mega-corrupt Boris Johnson government is in deep with middle eastern money. I’m sure someone can turn some screws.
-
Are the club going to put out a statement, ffs? Or are they just going to ignore the 800lb gorilla in the room and send Tuchel out later to field questions way above his pay grade?
