So why aren’t the English press and government aggressively going after the other ultra shady owners?

Yep. Like I said above, he’s all about star power and big, flashy buys apparently. The Dodgers are essentially the Real Madrid Galacticos of baseball along with the Yankees. Same with the Lakers.

Another American name now coming into the picture along with Wyss. Todd Boehly, who partly owns the LA Dodgers and Lakers as well as the Cloud9 eSports org. Big time into sports and entertainment. Tried to tempt Roman with a bid a couple years ago. Seems like he could be part of the team of billionaires who will bid together. This is the kind of guy that I think could be promising. He’s all about star power, flash, and Hollywood entertainment. Will probably want to see Chelsea continue to boom in America.

It’s just weird. I doubt he would be Roman’s first choice under normal circumstances. Having seen Newcastle get approval for their Arab owners to take over I’m actually kind of shocked that one of the other ones has come in for us. The UK government clearly had no problems there despite the blatant human rights issues in those countries. But Abramovich’s mere connection to Putin gets him run out of the country.

Sounds like this is happening and quite quickly. Looks like we will be a Swiss/American owned club soon. I hope this new ownership group are serious about keeping us at the top level. And I assume/hope Marina will be kept in place. She and the team around her will know what it takes to maintain our levels. On a brighter note, this Wyss guy seems like a genuinely good human being as far as billionaires go from what little I’ve read. Perhaps there will be a bit less venom and hatred in the media for Chelsea going forward…

I’m just afraid of us going the way of Man United. An ownership group who don’t give a single shit about the team on the pitch but rather only the “product” off it. Someone or some consortium who is constantly taking dividends out of the club and lining their pockets rather than getting the manager what he needs. I pray that Roman is smart enough not to sell to someone like that. Because if he does we’re going to see City win the league nearly uncontested for as long as Pep is there. Liverpool’s attacker will get old soon and they’ll slip away gradually while City’s owners with infinite money will continue to spend their way to titles.

Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss has just given an interview saying he’s considering buying the club and has spoken directly to Roman. This dude is nearly 90 years old and is “only” worth about $5B, or about a third of what Abramovich is worth. Sounds like a bad idea. How much could someone that old be truly invested emotionally in a football club? And will someone who isn’t a mega-billionaire afford to spend the money necessary to keep us competitive? I’d like to hope that Roman, who is easily the most passionate owner in the league and who desperately wanted us to be the very best, would carefully select his successor. Someone who will take care of the club as well as he did.

If he sells I think it’s still most likely to be an American buyer. American mega-billionaires will have seen how much the popularity of football has exploded here in America and want a piece of the pie. And as I mentioned a few days ago Chelsea is perhaps the best possible club someone can buy due to the size and stature of the club, the location, the popularity (and thus money making potential) and the fact that we’re set up to succeed for the foreseeable future without a major rebuild and massive initial investment into the playing squad. Really the only downside for a prospective buyer is our small and aging stadium. But after the two traditional juggernauts in Liverpool and United, Chelsea is probably the most attractive club to want to own.

Bezos can come in and buy us. Cover the debt with the change in his sofa cushions. 😂

Wonder how it would impact Kai if Werner leaves. They seem like great mates off the pitch. Of all the big signings we’ve made recently Werner is the one that makes me the saddest because his situation is so inexplicable. Goes from one of the most dangerous forwards in Europe to a player opposition fans laugh at. It’ll be a real shame if he goes as he seems like a top guy. And I think he’ll go back to Germany and rediscover himself.
