Chalobah is a solid player who can come in as a rotation option against lesser opponent, in earlier round cup competitions, or if someone better is injured. He is not yet good enough to be an undisputed starter for a team with title ambitions. This “don’t buy anyone an just stick with what we have” stuff sounds nice, but it’s basically just giving up on doing anything special this season.

Perhaps if we had bought him when he was extremely keen early in the window before Barca sold their souls for quick money he’d have been here long ago. Or had we not wasted time chasing the vastly inferior Aké for 2 weeks. Has a big club ever put in TWO nearly £60m bids for players and had them both scuppered like this? By the same club within the span of a week? This would make us look so terrible.

Utterly disastrous summer then, if so. Combine the incompetence of the incomings with the inability to sell off the endless supply of deadwood and its a recipe for us to slip away even further behind the top 2 and allow Spuds/Arse/United to pass us by.

Again, the club better be ready to swiftly move on to the next CB on the list if we get embarrassed here again. Before the actual meaningful football starts.

I do rate him and really like him as a big part of the squad but we absolutely, 100% need another forward signing that can score goals. Because as of right now I don’t see how we score goals at a high enough rate to keep up with the top 2. Even with an improved defense and Sterling as an upgrade on the left I can see us having the exact same sort of season with the exact same frustrations as we did last season at this moment in time. Loads and loads of matches where we dominate poor opposition but can’t score goals because we have serial chokers like Ziyech/Werner/Pulisic/CHO in attack and Havertz who looks amazing one match and then disappears in others. If the powers at this club think Sterling and nobody else is good enough to bridge the gap they’re extremely deluded.

Can we see something resembling a coherent team against Arse? Rather than weird formations and players playing totally out of position? And never see Sarr or Kenedy in a Chelsea shirt again?

Results don’t matter but when you travel abroad for preseason tours you want to out on a good show for the fans. I actually feel bad for these tens of thousands of Chelsea fans watching that. Mix and match teams or not that was a diabolical performance. Most of the players straight up didn’t look fussed at all. Look what Bayern and Barca have done to MLS opposition compared to this. We should be blowing this sort of team away no matter who is playing.

So annoying and unfortunate that Broja got injured. These precious preseason prep minutes being thrown in the trash by playing Batshuayi who is dog turd. Broja could’ve established himself and impressed in these 4 matches.

Don’t think Leipzig will allow Gvardiol to leave this summer. The trouble with all these super highly rated CB’s that remain is that they’re all so sought after by other top clubs. If we switch attention to Skriniar we’d risk getting gazumped by PSG. De Ligt and Bremer now off the table. We might be royally screwed if Koundé chooses Barca. Which is why I’m fine if we overpay a bit. We bloody need him.

Hopefully we have another CB target ready to immediately switch our focus to if we get fucked over on Koundé. We can’t afford to get dragging out this search for too much longer.

We probably shouldn’t get too excited about Koundé yet. Starting to see some more reporting about another Funny Money injection going into Barca tomorrow. So unless Sevilla refuses to sell to another Spanish team this is far from over. Getting heavy Raphinha vibes where we big a huge sum, agree with the selling club, and then the player waits around and chooses Barca.

Pedri is the one you want from Barca if the ship goes down, not Gavi or Fati.

In terms of CB’s I think so. But surely we have to dip into the market for an inexpensive fullback? Especially if Azpi and Alonso leave.

Gvardiol is a pure left sided CB so I don’t see why he’d be an alternative to Koundé. To Kimpembe, yes.
