Wish Law, Jacobs, and Ornstein would wake up and update us.
-
I think the most likely outcome is us panicking and spending an absurd amount overpaying for Kimpembe or even going back with something unforgivable like £55-60m for Aké.
-
Yeah, bidding for Skriniar now seems like a good way to get burned and have PSG do the same thing to us. We’ve left things so late that we’re in a tough spot. Yes, there are still 40+ days left in the window, but the season itself is much closer. Teams aren’t going to want to sell top players so close to the start.
-
Every source that said yesterday that it was essentially done are silent. Some of them are here in America so it’s the crack of dawn and they’re not awake yet, but still. You’d think we’d have a bunch of explanations from the English side. What fucks us over is that Tuchel was surely going to use KK on the left where he’s used to playing and Koundé on the right where he would’ve been perfect. So now if we switch focus to Gvardiol for example, he also plays on the left which creates a bit of a headache. Not to mention he’d cost considerably more than Koundé.
-
Embarrassing, humiliating, and totally fucks us over. Now watch them drop interest in Azpi and Alonso (thus forcing us to keep a couple of past it players) and then sell United De Jong (thus considerably strengthening a direct rival). I fucking despise that club. Again, maybe we’ll learn our lesson now not to bid for any player without getting their commitment first?
-
Our supporters have been talking so much shit and rubbing it in Barca’s face so gleefully that if we lose out on Koundé now it’ll be so cringe. 🤣🤣🤣 Apparently Barca haven’t 100% given up, the annoying bastards.
-
Sure Benz would be thrilled to have the limelight taken back from him after finally getting respect and becoming the main man after living in CR7’s shadow for years. 😂
-
Even though our club have briefed that it’s not happening, in the back of my head I still wouldn’t totally rule out CR7 coming in. The longer he refuses to show up at United preseason the more I think it’s still possible.
-
Scamacca for me would be a huge risk. One great season after like 5 loans prior to that. Coming from a small Italian team. Huge potential bust there. I think we need to continue our trend this window of getting players who are ready to slot straight in and not take ages to get used to things. Koulibaly, Sterling, and Koundé should all go straight into the starting XI without much issue. Any forward or wing signing we make now will hopefully be the same. Someone with lots of experience in a big team with proven pedigree and limited risk. Who that is, I don’t know…
-
Only way Timo goes is on loan with that salary. I’d still keep him and give him one last chance to rediscover himself.
-
Announcement today would be ace. But from what we saw with Sterling and KK it seems to take us like 3 days between signing everything and the announcement.
-
They’re probably also pissed off at us (and all English clubs) for blowing up the Super League which was going to save them from financial ruin.
-
He’s basically the face of Newcastle now. Zero chance they’d part with their best player now that they’re “the richest club in the world.”
-
I see. Could be one to watch in the future. Not many options for us this summer now.
-
Moussa Diaby looks pretty damned good after I just watched footage. Looks to offer a out of what Raphinha does but is even quicker. Apparently he has ruled himself out of a move this summer. But perhaps that’s only Becasue a proper big club hasn’t come in for him yet and changed his mind.
-
Nice, some seemingly positive news to wake up to. If we get this over the line it should be a race to sign a goal scorer next of some kind. Forget blowing money on a 3rd CB, we need goals. Then after that some cover at wingback.
-
Knowing our current luck, we’ll go put a monster bid in for Leão and then Real Madrid will wake up and say “nah, we’ll be having him.” 🤣😫
-
We’ll probably do something monumentally dumb after this like bidding such crazy money for Aké that City will privately laugh their heads off at and drive him to Cobham themselves.
-
Never, EVER again should we table a bid until the player himself gives their word that they want to come. It makes us look like total amateurs and a small club. Looks like two identical chains of events now. Bid massive money, agree with the selling club, player himself finds terms acceptable, then the player decides on Barca. DO NOT BID FOR A PLAYER WITHOUT THEIR IRONCLAD COMMITMENT TO MOVE TO Chelsea!
-
The going to join up with Sevilla thing not effecting our negotiations sounds like horseshit. If the deal was super close to Chelsea he could join up with us and not miss more than a couple of days training. He’s doing a Raphinha and biding time for Barca to put together a bid.
-
Chalobah is a solid player who can come in as a rotation option against lesser opponent, in earlier round cup competitions, or if someone better is injured. He is not yet good enough to be an undisputed starter for a team with title ambitions. This “don’t buy anyone an just stick with what we have” stuff sounds nice, but it’s basically just giving up on doing anything special this season.
-
Perhaps if we had bought him when he was extremely keen early in the window before Barca sold their souls for quick money he’d have been here long ago. Or had we not wasted time chasing the vastly inferior Aké for 2 weeks. Has a big club ever put in TWO nearly £60m bids for players and had them both scuppered like this? By the same club within the span of a week? This would make us look so terrible.
-
Utterly disastrous summer then, if so. Combine the incompetence of the incomings with the inability to sell off the endless supply of deadwood and its a recipe for us to slip away even further behind the top 2 and allow Spuds/Arse/United to pass us by.
-
Again, the club better be ready to swiftly move on to the next CB on the list if we get embarrassed here again. Before the actual meaningful football starts.
-
Christ, just tell us where he’s going already. 😩😩😩 Hopefully we find out today one way or the other.
