Where’s our Sterling announcement? 🤔
-
Would indeed be a masterclass if we could send Jorginho + cash to Juve for De Ligt and then replaced him with De Jong to reunite former Ajax teammates. Two key areas of the pitch sorted for 5 years or more. But with no English reporters corroborating this latest link it reads entirely like a Barca briefing to speed United up.
-
That’s exactly what this is. Barca have their typical Catalan mouthpieces in the media put this out to get United to pay up. And pay up in full all at once rather than the add ons United want to use.
-
Ah, the classic “throw Chelsea’s name out there to pressure the actual interested club into paying more” strategy that we’ve seen countless times. De Jong makes no sense unless J5 is sold. And the only news we’ve heard on the Jorginho front lately is about him renewing not moving.
-
What is shit about it, exactly? After last season’s abomination this nice clean, simple shirt looks ace to me. Collar is a bit funky but everything else looks great to me.
-
That’s why I have zero respect for any non-German player who goes there. It’s lame as hell. I can get German players going there because it’s probably the dream of all of them to do so. Or a player who has already done it all and is winding down their career like Mané. Yes, they’re a huge club and yes, you’re guaranteed to win titles but a title with Bayern is so hollow. You know before a ball is even kicked every season that Bayern will win the league. A PL trophy is a monumental achievement. A Bundesliga trophy is literally a formality these days.
-
Just try for Skriniar before PSG advance things further. Or Koulibaly. Kimpembe is bang average. Reminds me of a slightly better Zouma which is decent for a squad player but not a top class guy. Missing out on de Ligt will probably really hurt for Tuchel. His leadership in addition to his ability was something Tuchel clearly after.
-
I think it’s great. Much, MUCH better than last season’s.
-
Damn shame. And then if we try to go for Koulibaly as a fallback option we’ll have to compete with Juve for him. And for a player who is already in Serie A they may be more enticing than us at his age.
-
De Ligt is 22 and has the potential to play for us for 10+ years if he realizes his talent. As insane as it would’ve seemed a few years ago, he probably is worth the €85m asking price. I think we should offer it if he is truly Tuchel’s top choice.
-
I’m not that bothered about the wages. United and City have loads of players on more than 300k. English tax, coming from a direct rival, in his prime, and has years of top football left in him. He’s not some unproven gamble like this dude Antony is that United are chasing.
-
Would (finally) be a great start to our business. Let’s hope it’s the opening of the floodgates.
-
Bayern’s director once again pouring cold water on any move for CR7. If Tuchel gives his blessing I think we are his only option of he wants to play at the very highest level. Otherwise it’s either stay at United and play Thursday nights with no hope of competing for the league or drop down a level to play for a Napoli or someone like that which I think he’d view as beneath him. I’m beginning to think more and more that this may be on. If he applies more pressure on them by refusing to show up this week for their tour….
-
Sadly, this is indeed the imagine most people around the world have of the majority of Americans. 🤣
-
Appears the source for the link is terrible and since no other outlet is corroborating it I think we can dismiss it. Looks like a fantastic player, though.
-
They’re an absolute joke of a club. “Hey, we’re going to need all of our players to drastically cut your wages or even defer some of your salary to a couple of years down the road because we’re in a super dire situation financially. But also here’s Christensen and Kessie (who will surely be in big wages since they’re coming from big clubs) and we also want Raphinha for 60m, Lewa for 50m, Bernardo Silva for who knows how much etc” Again I ask like I did last week, why would any top talent fancy going to Barca at this moment in time other than the romance of their past glory? One year from now they could pressure you into halving your salary and threatening to sell you if you don’t.
-
The dumbest thing about some of these players we’re linked with is that they should be pretty straightforward and easy. Take Sterling for example. Everyone knows he wants to leave City, everyone knows he wants to come to Chelsea, City are said to be perfectly willing to let him go, and all credible sources have put forward a price that is widely thought acceptable to City. So why isn’t that deal done yet? Likewise, Koundé. We’ve known for like a year what Sevilla want, the player wants out, Sevilla themselves have been openly stating that he can go, and we desperately need CB’s. Again, how is a deal for him not done and dusted? Some of the bigger deals like De Ligt are understandably taking longer but Sterling has no other suitors but us…
-
Btw, this Matheus Nunes that we’ve just been linked with looks incredible on YouTube. Dribbles and carries the ball like Kova, has an eye for a killer pass like a classic playmaker, and is completely resistant to the press. Looks perfect for the PL. The link to him just makes no sense this summer, though, unless someone is leaving. And that doesn’t appear to be the case. Jorginho’s agent just yesterday was talking about renewing again. And Kante was described as essential by Tuchel.
-
And Spence apparently. They aren’t really making “sexy” signings, but ones that Conte has clearly requested. Players that perfectly fit his ideas. Exactly what we have all been expecting with Tuchel this summer.
-
Spuds about to announce their 5th signing today. They finished just 3 points behind us…
-
De Ligt to Bayern Koundé apparently close to Barca Skriniar in discussions with PSG Juve want Koulibaly to replace De Ligt when he goes That’ll be every top class CB we’ve been linked with gone. Then what? Wtf are we doing?
-
I just thought Christensen’s negatives outweighed the positives. When he was fully fit and in top form he was a very solid and adequate CB. But the seemingly constant niggling injuries, the unexplained bouts of being out of the team, him getting bullied on the pitch even by players that he’s bigger than, and seeing him always grimacing in pain after innocuous looking challenges got super old. If we had extended his contract I would’ve thought “meh, fine, I guess.” But now that he has left I’m also like “meh, fine, I guess.” I won’t really have a second thought about him once the season starts.
-
I actually don’t think there’s much at allbetween Aké and Christensen. It’s replacing Rüdiger with someone at his level or in De Light’s case, someone who can reach that level that I’m worried about. Aké as our #1, primary signing would be disastrous. Aké + De Ligt/Skriniar/Koulibaly/Koundé is easy for me to stomach. I just never want to see fucking Malang Sarr playing for us again.
-
Imagine if literally everything is being held up by Boehly attempting to push through CR7…
-
Another day with no signings, then. 🙄
