  1. Sending Chalobah to Leipzig would be very good. Establishing a good relationship with that club will be very beneficial for us because they’re one of those converter belts of great talent. Could come in handy if Nkunku has another great season and we move for him next summer. As for Gordon and Auba, it feels quite likely now that neither of those moves are happening. But we absolutely need an attacker before the window shuts. It’s desperation time now so I think we may have to do something desperate. What that is I don’t know. But we aren’t achieving anything without more goals.
  2. I agree. I think they’re in serious trouble if they sell him this late in the window. Not because he puts up big numbers but just because of the energy and effort he brings which Lamps clearly loves. Don’t see this one happening unless we send them one of our prized young players like Broja or Gallagher on loan as part of the deal. Which would be stupid on our part.
  3. Sounds like he’s saying that it’s getting to the point in the window that if anything is going to happen it needs to happen ASAP before it’s too late to sell an important player.
  4. Think we’ll have done as well as we possibly could have this summer reshaping our defense if Fofana comes in. Two players in Cucu and Fofana who know what the PL is all about, are young, and should be here for many years. And then Koulibaly who is vastly experienced and will be more than fine once he’s fully up to speed. Would’ve been nice to sign a quality backup to Reece to put the cherry on top but we can make do with the (hopefully rare) Azpi or RLC appearance there if needed. Sterling, Koulibaly, Cucurella, and Fofana as senior signings that all go straight into the first XI is a fantastic summer. We add 1 more signing who can get us goals and it’s one of our best ever windows. And that’s not even mentioning all these young talents we’re signing for the future. We’d all have loved the club to get a jump start in the midfield rebuild that will be needed very soon but we can’t expect Boehly to spend £350m in a single window. The fact that we haven’t gone all out for some of these midfielders that have been linked says to me that Declan Rice is still the one we’re waiting for. He will be next summer’s Fofana saga where we bid multiple times and eventually sign.
  5. Imagine what Leicester will demand if we put in another shocker against them tomorrow. 🫣 They may then demand £100m since we’ll be desperate.
  6. We desperately need a top class CB and have already lodged 3 bids for him. I just can’t imagine Boehly and the club would want to walk away humiliated but not getting their top target so late in the window. Especially after the player has been made an outcast by Leicester. We simply have to push it through even if we are forced to pay what Leicester want. As for Auba, yeah, Barca weaseling their way out of trouble once again could be a problem. Guess this deal, only happens if Auba pushes for it. If not we’re totally fucked. We absolutely cannot finish in the top 4 this season with Kai and Broja as our strikers. We NEED to sign someone.
  7. I don’t see any chance that we don’t get Fofana. Auba, too for that matter. Especially after Memphis’s move to Juve collapsed. They need a sale or two still. Could see Everton price us out of a move for Gordon.
  8. Tuchel says Kova is only ready for very limited minutes so he almost certainly won’t start. Since Gallagher and Jorginho was so disastrous against Leeds I wonder what Tuchel does.
  9. Curious to see what midfield Tuchel goes with now that Kova is fit. Since both Jorginho and Gallagher struggled so much against Leeds I wonder which of the two he decides to drop. I would guess Conor. With Leicester in terrible form and potentially missing some big, key players I think we should expect them to go for a very defensive setup to just try to stop the rot. They just need points on the board to steady things and may play for a draw. So for me I pray we don’t waste Reece at CB again. We’ll need his attacking play against what may be a parked bus.
  10. Hopefully we don’t regret pissing about all week long and fall even further behind the top of the table. All 3 of the players we’re chasing would’ve been hugely helpful against Leicester on Saturday.
  11. United or City? Both will probably have their midfields set by then. United will have Casemiro and probably De Jong whilst City have just bought Phillips. All the talk I’ve seen with Bellingham has been about Klopp desperately wanting him. And then Matt Law saying we’d be very interested.
  12. Why would he agree to come here for that role, though? May as well stay in beautiful, sunny Barcelona if he’s going to be in the bench most of the time. As for midfield, I think we all just need to move on. We aren’t signing a midfielder this summer. The plan since the start of the summer was probably to buy a youngsters or two for the future (Casadei & Carney who were obviously scouted for a while) and then wait until next year when Jorginho and perhaps Kante are both gone before going big. We’re probably still going to be after Rice and Bellingham as our main targets.
  13. Mase has been nonexistent in these first 3 matches for the most part. Like any Chelsea player he shouldn’t be guaranteed a starting place. It would definitely be his place in the team that is most under threat by Gordon if he joins. Sterling is starting every match he’s fit and you don’t buy a 33 year old striker to sit on the bench. As for De Jong’s agent again being in London, it has been pointed out several times from what I’ve seen that Man United have operations based in central London. So no guarantee at all it has something to do with us.
  14. How do we complete the Cucu signing for huge money in the span of a couple of days and yet it’s taking weeks to sign players in positions we’re actually desperate for? The hell is going on? Also, wtf is going on with Alonso? It’s like he has fallen into a black hole and disappeared. For weeks there were reliable reports that his move was essentially done. Now everything says Barca have cooled their interest.
  15. Whether I think it’s a smart signing or not, I hope Auba is in tomorrow or Friday so that he can start at the weekend. We can’t afford another shocker of a performance where we can’t score a goal from open play.
  16. Gordon’s statistical production is terrible and there’s really no arguing that. But tbf to him he’s playing in the worst Everton side in memory. You think we struggle to score goals, try watching Everton over the past year. If you were to ask me straight up who I’d rather have in a Chelsea XI at this moment between CHO and Gordon I’d have Gordon. Because he’s actually brave on the ball and has stones. He’ll take his man on and put extreme pressure on defenses. Then you get all his off the ball work. We no longer have the CHO from his pre-Achilles injury days when Bayern were desperate to take him. He’s a shadow of that player right now. Maybe a year in Germany will bring that player back.
  17. Newcastle close to signing Isak for £60m. I asked a couple of weeks ago why we aren’t taking a punt on him and was told he had a down year. But I think this will be a great signing for Newcastle. They’re building a serious team up there.
  18. Antony is going to be a massively expensive flop I think. He’s nowhere close to a €90m player. Ziyech was even better for Ajax than him and look how he turned out in the PL. It’s quite easy for a very solid player to look like a beast when you’re basically playing for the Bayern Munich of the Dutch league. All of their recent stars that have moved on to bigger clubs have either flopped or not come close to living up to their hype. Van de Beek, De Jong, De Ligt, Ziyech. All players who looked like superstars for Ajax but have been average after leaving. Or worse in DVB’s case. Antony will be no different.
  19. I just can’t get the potential price of Anthony Gordon out of my head. Every time the thought crosses my mind I just shake my head and think “my god…” I think he’s got the attributes to be very useful in our team, but what an absolutely massive embarrassment it will be (for Tuchel and the club) if he is a bust. It will be a Kepa level situation.
  20. Btw, have Leicester even signed anyone yet? They’ve had a horrible start to the season, have signed no one, and I’ve seen LOTS of their supporters saying that Rodgers has grown stale and should go. Add to that the fact that reports have suggested the club is in really poor financial shape. And yet they still reject £70m from us? Kind of incredible.
  21. Romano says Auba has hit a snag because of Barca’s insistence on getting €30m whilst Romero is saying it’ll happen this week. Let’s see who is right.
  22. Said a month or two ago here that Leão reminds me almost exactly of Zaha. Same physique, same playing style. Seems to be better in the final third but difficult to say how that would translate to a much tougher league.
  23. The only possible role I can see slabhead being decent in is in the Thiago Silva role in the middle of a back 3 with 2 super athletic and quick CB’s either side of him. But obviously he ain’t getting that here.
  24. Cal hasn’t been able to beat a man in space in like a year now. He’s useless. And he’s also lazy. At least Gordon will run his socks off for o- minutes and can dribble last players. He’s a pain in the ass to opposing teams with his pace and energy. I can see why TT wants him. But the price tag is laughable.
  25. Another weekend of Reece at CB then. 😫😫😫
