Now would be a good time to solidify the midfield. If RLC is going to be Potter’s new “it” guy for a while I’d take him off and have him fresh for Milan. Bring on Kova for a bit more bite and ball retention. Have to be extremely weary of Adama. He’s the only one who is consistently causing scares for us when he gets the ball in space. Cucu is a bit too small to deal with him 1v1.

If we don’t score first and demoralize them then they’ll sucker punch us and park the bus. They look WAY too dangerous on the very few occasions they have been in our final third.
-
This is perhaps our most dominant display of the season so far. But nothing to show for it.
-
This game should be over and out of reach in the first 30 minutes. City would be up 4-0 with these same chances we’ve created.
-
Jesus Christ, we’re carving them open like a League One side and can’t finish to save our lives. Or even get it on target! We have to make this count, ffs.
-
Auba would probably have a couple of goals already with these chances we’ve created. Beautiful build up over and over and then ZERO composure with the final touch. And the AGAIN burned and carved through on the counter. Our midfield has been nonexistent defensively.
-
Surprisingly very tidy, quick football. Still very open to counter attacks, though…
-
A J5 + RLC midfield pairing just looks SO poor on paper. Hopefully won’t be a disaster in real life.

This has all the makings of a banana peel game for us. We know what always happens when an opposition team is in utter turmoil and comes up against Chelsea… I’d rather have played a full strength side here to ensure we have the best chance to win and then make a change or two for Milan if fatigue was a factor.
-
Still not even a sniff for Zakaria. How are we ever going to know what we have with him if he never sees the pitch?
-
Ooooof. That looks like an early round cup XI that we’d put out against lower league opposition. I don’t like it at all!
-
RB Chelsea incoming? Or RB London? 🤣
-
Wtf happened with Wolves, btw? I haven’t watched them at all in recent weeks but I was very impressed by them in the first few weeks of the season. In fact, they were one of the teams I thought could make a real push for top 5-6 when I watched them. Looked solid all over the pitch. So they just imploded since? Classic trap game for us then after the high of yesterday.

Very concerning images of Fofana on crutches and with a serious looking knee stabilizer on. 😩😩😩 Chalobah looked very solid when he came on but fuuuuuuck. During this insane period of fixtures we desperately need all the depth we can get. This feels like it could be a very bad injury like an MCL. 😢
-
Imagine how many he’d score if we had Cesc feeding him the ball with all that space he’s running into.
-
Reece James is like the terminator of RB’s. The combo of physical dominance as well as ridiculous skill on the ball is so rare.
-
Easy to see in a couple short flashes what makes Leão special, btw. His ability to explode from a standstill to flying past defenders is nuts. He blew past both Sterling and even Reece as if they were training cones in that first half.
-
It’s just so bloody obvious that we’re going to rue missing all these chances to make it 2-0. After a timid start we totally dominated the run of play. But Auba isn’t involved nearly enough because we can’t get him the ball in the areas he likes. This is the issue with having multiple midfielders who can’t pierce the lines with their passing. No link between the middle of the pitch and the top. All of our danger is coming from the right side. Other than that, fuck I hope Fofana’s injury isn’t serious. We need him to get as many minutes as he can so he can settle in the team.
-
Man, other than Leão that Milan XI doesn’t look particularly impressive at all. I’ve never even heard of several of their players. If our players all play to their top levels this would be a comfortable outing. We have MILES better players than they do. But of course many of our players haven’t been playing at their best levels. 😒

Mount really is undroppable I guess. Starts no matter his form. What sort of message does that send? He may go on to have a fantastic game tonight but still, on merit he shouldn’t be starting this. He has been woeful this season. Other than he and RLC I think that’s a very nice looking side.
-
Go for an athletic, highly mobile midfield. Kova + Zakaria or Kova + Carney. It’ll most certainly be RLC, though if Jorginho isn’t fit. But we need defensive work rate in there which RLC lacks.
-
I really have no clue what to expect because I have no clue what sort of formation or personnel Potter truly fancies yet. There are so many different players who can play that it’s just impossible to predict anything. Will Kepa start or Mendy? Will Cucu start or Chilly? Both together? Will Koulibaly come in for his experience playing against Milan and in big CL matches? Will Mount finally be dropped? Can Kante play? Back 4 or back 3? Potter has managed so few matches that we don’t know his preferences. I will say though, if Jorginho starts again it’s going to totally drain my hope before kickoff. I’d even rather give Carney or Zakaria their debuts here than see Jorginho getting cooked over and over again.
-
Very, very exciting player. Just wonder where we’d play him along the front 3. Impossible to know until we’ve seen how this season plays out.
-
The money stuff doesn’t bother me at all anymore since every big club spends silly cash nowadays. What annoys me is that none of the other big boys can get their shit together and make things interesting. It’s boring watching them dominate in a machine like manner year after year.
-
What separates City from everyone else is the fact that every player knows exactly where they should be at all times. You see the same sorts of patterns in their attacking moves every game. It’s like second nature to them. They create brilliant chances at will because of this. We’re starting to see it with Pep’s pupil Arteta just with much worse players. Hopefully Potter can do this with us given enough time because he did it with Brighton.
