Both the club themselves and the media have played the “poor little Arsenal who cannot compete with the other rich clubs” card for 20 years now. They have been seen as “pure” by everyone for not spending big and they acted all high and mighty. Now they’re going to get Rice, Lavia, Timber, and Havertz for a combined over £200m in a single window. And that’s perhaps not everyone they’ll buy. So NEVER again can Arse supporters and Arse media complain about Chelsea/City/United “buying the league.” That’s literally what they’re trying to do now.

Nkunku is an incredible, forward thinking signing. It was a big risk at the time back in December or whenever it was to spend big money on a player who was injured. But after that season he just had, he’d be worth £85-90m if we didn’t already buy him and every big club in Europe would’ve been battling for him. We likely wouldn’t stand a chance after finishing 12th. His skill set is perfect for the PL. Can’t wait to see him under Poch.
-
Yeah, it’s something that stands out about him the more I scout him on YouTube. He’s a very “clean” player technique wise. Great first touch, great holdup play, uses his big frame well. He looks like way more than a simple poacher or classic big #9. He’s a proper footballer. If he settles well in the PL he could be a very shrewd buy.

That we’d start seeing some moves made official today. 😒
-
I doubt we’ll announce any new signings until the shirt deal is done. Would be weird to have new signings holding up last seasons shirt. I guess they could just wear some training kit or something but I doubt it.
-
Carney is more of a Lampard type. A box to box #8 whereas Santos and Casadei seem to be deeper sitting playmakers. I don’t think they clash. I suppose if we sign not one but two new midfielders Carney could be seen as surplus. But if it’s just one then I think it’s foolish.
-
Never heard of this journalist but he’s followed by Ornstein. This would be incredibly stupid of us to do. I think Carney is going to be a very, very good player in the future and Poch is the perfect manager to nurture his talent. If we let him go permanently I’d be extremely annoyed. Give them RLC like they originally wanted, ffs!
-
I actually feel kind of bad about his situation. Was awesome for a season here then went completely off the boil and now gone without much fanfare. From undisputed #1 for the Champions of Europe to essentially retiring to the Saudi league in the span of 2 years.
-
They’re trying to stick their hands in every sport it seems. Golf, football, F1. I’d be shocked if they don’t try to muscle in on some of our sports leagues here in America.
-
Wonder how much all these Saudi deals are going to change our incoming transfer plans. There’s no way the club expected to get nice fees for all this “junk” we needed to get rid of. We probably thought we’d have to loan players like Koulibaly and Mendy due to their wages. So with the unexpected influx of cash I wonder if they’ll attack more ambitious targets that we perhaps couldn’t have before?
-
Wonder what happens if no club offers us money to buy Lukaku permanently. We clearly don’t want to send him on loan again and further slash his value as he gets a year older. Then he’ll be even harder to shift. Even if we we’re going to take a massive loss in him we should just sell him back to Inter for peanuts.
-
I was worried we were going to have to bite the bullet and either terminate contracts or let these guys rot on our bench for a couple of years. But wow, we may actually be getting sizable fees for players who had no future here. With KK looking to be off and with Thiago Silva surely playing his last year here there is absolutely no chance Colwill can be even loaned now. He should get lots of minutes now.
-
One of the most unforgettable players we’ll ever see. The kind of guy we’ll talk about decades from now. What an absolute pleasure to have him in a Chelsea shirt and I’ll always love him.
-
If this were a normal Chelsea season where we were in Europe and played 60 games I’d say keep one of them. But I think Mudryk, Nkunku, Sterling, and Madueke are enough for the two wing positions with only domestic competitions to worry about. If we get some sort of injury crisis amongst our 4 wide attackers we can always switch formations to 3 at the back and use the wingbacks for width.
-
Now if only we could get someone to take Pulisic, RLC, and CHO off our books we’ll have cleared out nearly all of the deadwood. And we’ll have also cleared out some massive wages.
-
Feels like we’ll 100% be seeing some activity this coming week. Get KK, Mendy and Ziyech out the door before they or the Saudi’s change their minds. Jackson should be sealed this week and Nkunku should be officially announced if Fabrizio is to be believed. Doubt we’ll be able to get Caicedo or some other midfielder in this week, though.
-
Think people should only start getting concerned about the Saudi league when actual top talents at big clubs in their prime years decide to go there when they have offers from big European clubs. For now it’s all either mid 30’s stars who are after one last mega paycheck before retiring or players who have stagnated at big clubs (like Ziyech, Koulibaly etc) and don’t have top shelf offers in Europe. When you start seeing players aged 22-28 starting to go there from massive clubs then we have a problem.
-
Seems the Saudi’s may save our asses on several players that may have otherwise been very difficult to move. Koulibaly, Ziyech, and maybe even Mendy and Lukaku. Wouldn’t be surprised if the moaners in the English media start calling for an investigation 🤣🤣🤣
-
I immediately looked at our run-in rather than the first set of fixtures like most people do. Very favorable for us if we are actually in the mix for top 4 this season. Especially if other rivals are still competing in Europe towards the end and focusing there.
-
Surely we are when players like KK & Ziyech have more than 1 year left on their deals.
-
He’s 30, often injured, and why would we want a player Arse are trying to upgrade on?
-
If we get our recruitment right this summer I think we’ll finish above them this season. I don’t see the likes of Rashford playing out of their skin again like last season. I feel like they’ll come back down to earth with Champions League football taking up more of their attention.
-
Feels like at this moment Caicedo will be our only midfielder if we land him. There hasn’t really been much indication that we’re after more than 1, just alternatives in case Caicedo doesn’t happen. Maybe Santos/Casedei/Carney could genuinely be given a chance instead of buying a an additional DM.
-
Adding Rice + Lavia is one hell of an upgrade for those bastards. 😒 But hopefully that leaves us an easier run at Caicedo.
-
It does indeed feel like a huge risk to have all of our strikers be 21 or younger. Having no striker that’s got experience leading the line for a huge club is asking a lot. Honestly, I don’t see how all 3 of Jackson, Broja, and DD Fofana all stay with the first team. I think 1 of them (likely Fofana) has to go out on loan.
