Now we’ll hear from all the English pundits the whole season about how stupid we were for selling Mount despite him being utterly dreadful all last season and refusing numerous contract offers. Of course not providing any alternative other than keeping him against his will, having him not sign a new contract, and then walk for free. Then they’d slaughter us even more for being dumb enough to let him go for nothing,
-
Good to finally have it done. Now let’s hope we waste no time at all in getting multiple midfielders in starting next week.
-
It’s bullshit, ignore it.
-
What the hell’s going on with our shirt deal, btw? As awful as this deal with Stake sounds, how have we STILL not formalized something yet? Having new signings holding up last season’s shirt is some amateur hour shit.
-
Will probably be holding up a City shirt by the time this sluggish Mount saga is over.
-
Why not just plop £100-120m on Levy’s desk for Kane NOW and see if he’s stupid enough to turn it down? That’s the Mount + Havertz money. Levy turning down enough money to completely refresh their squad for the new manager would be silly. Take £100m from a direct rival or watch him walk for free (likely to a direct rival anyways).
-
Caicedo + Gabri would indeed be ideal. But when Pep wants you as a Spanish player that’s probably a wrap. But we absolutely should be after a midfielder with his same profile. Caicedo as the replacement for the Kante duties (blanketing the pitch, hunting the ball down, disrupting passing angles, carrying it forward when needed) whilst we get another midfielder that’s more forward thinking to replace the outgoing amount and Kova.
-
Unless Ornstein jumps on Twitter to say that United are in for Caicedo then I’m not buying it.

We’re going to have some team in 2030 if these scouts who are convincing the club to pay tens of millions for teenagers have done their jobs. Feels a bit over the top, though. Feels like we’re hoovered up about 15 “wonder kids” since last summer.
-
Bruh, we’re spunking MORE money on ANOTHER teenaged talent! 😳😳😳
-
Are we waiting to officially sell Havertz and a couple of others until July 1 as well or do we absolutely need all these sales in the current FFP books?
-
Just feels frustrating that the clubs who finished 1st and 2nd last season are in all out attack mode in the window and will have most, if not all of their major business done before preseason even starts whilst we are the club that needs the most surgery but are working with the handbrake on due to our desperate need to clear out players. Yes, the club are doing a miraculous job at clearing said players out, but by the time we start to “attack the transfer market” as Fabrizio always says many of the names we’ve been heavily linked may be off to our direct rivals. At least it doesn’t seem like anyone else is going hard on Caicedo or Barella at this moment in time. So we should have limited competition for them once we do start pushing.
-
Damn. He is the picture perfect Klopp attacker. I had hoped we’d be after him.
-
I thought he was one we wanted in before July 1 because he’s being given one of those silly 8 year contracts that are about to be outlawed?
-
Jackson passed his medical like 4 days ago, right? Wonder what the hold up on the announcement is.
-
So now we sit back and hope our delay tactics with Caicedo don’t bite us in the ass. City are probably the one club that he would instantly jump to if Pep comes calling and we now know that they’ve got £90m to spend on a DM.
-
£105m for Rice just feels mind blowing. I rate him and would take him at Chelsea but that’s just an insane price for someone whose only elite attribute is his work rate. Not an elite passer, not a great goal scorer, not really a player who can dictate an entire match with the ball at his feet. Feels like smart scouts could find 15 DM’s around Europe that can do Rice’s job just as well. He’s a very good player but doesn’t seem like a special player like our £100m midfielder does. Can you imagine what a prime, early 20’s Kante would cost in this market if he were moving from a small PL club to a big one in 2023? 😳😳😳
-
I would agree if United weren’t also lurking. I feel like they’d match any bid we make and Levy would rather sell him to them than to us.
-
Yeah, doesn’t really say anything about his Chelsea time at all. Looks like he was desperate to hop to City at the first opportunity.
-
Kova was a joy to watch when fit and in form. But hopefully we properly replace his skill set with someone who can also contribute in attack which he never really did. We 100% need at least 2 new CM’s. Caicedo + another who is more technical and box to box.
-
Since there really isn’t any standout striker candidate available to sign in addition to Jackson it’s probably best to wait until next summer and assess what’s out there. Maybe some big player unexpectedly wants to change clubs or some club needs to sell. Buying Lautaro or Vlahovic now for the sake of signing any experienced striker would be stupid. Having done a bunch of YouTube scouting the only interesting striker that could be in the move this summer for me is Kolo Muani. But the price for him is insane and one we surely won’t touch. We should instead get a couple of players in other positions who can score and create goals.
-
Good luck to Ruben. If (and that’s a big IF) he can stay fit for an extended stretch he should excel in Serie A. Hopefully Pulisic is next.
-
Doubt Levy would accept a penny less than £100m just like we did with Hazard in his final year. Like us, Levy knows Spuds are dead next season if they sell him so they’ll demand a fee nobody will pay.
-
That Bayern bid for Kane is cheeky as fuck 🤣 Even with a year left on his deal they didn’t really think they could get one of the best strikers in the world for £65m, did they? Almost feels like a troll bid to turn his head.
-
Ruben is a better footballer but at least if Gallagher rediscovers his best form under Poch he offers a genuine goal threat. And unlike RLC he actually has a high intensity mindset instead of casually strolling around the pitch.
