If we get Caicedo, Adams, and that’s it I have a feeling we’re going to be an absolute nightmare to play against and be right there in contention amongst the top 6. But for top 4 we don’t currently have the consistent goal getters. I’m expecting big things from Jackson and huge improvement from Mudryk, Carney, and Madueke but we need another killer.

Club brief just went out that we DON’T want Vlahovic. Which is fine with me, but we MUST have someone else in mind for the attacking positions, surely. We’re woefully short on proven goal scorers currently.

Damn, I’m just now reading about Tyler Adams’s injury. I was under the impression that he had a somewhat minor injury and was right on the verge of being ready to go. But in reality he has apparently been out for months and is still quite a long way from being fit. Not until after the first international break. So he won’t be ready to contribute any time soon. It’s a serious hamstring injury as well which we have seen firsthand how prone they are to re-aggravating with Kante. And he has a very similar style and game to Kante. Relies on endless running and athleticism.

When is Adams expected to be fit, btw?

What I don’t understand is why any good young keeper would agree to come here now that we’ve just bought a keeper that will probably be the new starter. Like, why would Dortmund’s starting keeper who is still very young want to come and sit on our bench or merely compete for the starting role when he’s already the #1 at a big club? If Kepa goes and Sanchez is the new starter then any keeper we bring in should surely be an older one who has no other expectation except being emergency cover, right?

If Kepa goes I really hope the loan with only a buy option isn’t true. Either sell him for good or make it a mandatory buy obligation next summer. Don’t want to have a “will he stay or will he go” again and again if he’s as bang average at Bayern as he has been here and they decide they don’t want to keep him.

How is there STILL no Caicedo news?

After how glowing Poch has been about Kepa I can’t see it. Unless Bayern offer something too good to turn down. He seems pretty well liked in the dressing room as well so letting go of yet another popular player internally may not be best for harmony.

Imagine if we let go of Kepa now and then had to rush out and buy ANOTHER keeper! 🤣

It’s going to be crazy if Juve push through the Lukaku move when their supporters are so against it. Yeah, the tackling stats from last season are pretty misleading when taking them in a vacuum. Leeds were struggling and playing back to the wall football all season trying to save themselves from the drop. So of course they spent most of their time defending and without the ball so Adams had more opportunities to tackle and put up monster defensive stats. That being said, I think his specific skill set can easily translate to anywhere he goes. He’s one of those high motor, super “try hard” players who will run their socks off no matter what. Can see him being useful in late game situations against tired legs. Or perhaps if Poch wanted to play with 3 in midfield against certain big teams like City or Arse where we are likely not to dominate all the possession you can comfortably play Adams and Caicedo with Enzo more advanced. Two tackling machines who cover the whole pitch.

Yeah, Adams is pretty Kante-like in his ability to seek and destroy the ball carrier. He’s an awesome “destroyer” and a decent footballer, too. Purely as a squad option his profile makes sense. In terms of numbers in midfield when if we have Caicedo, Adams, Ugo, Andrey, Casadei, and Gallagher next season I have no clue what we’re gonna do.

As long as the PL approves of it then whatever. But this looks shady as hell, man. 🤣 Brand new company nobody has ever heard of. Super vague idea of what the hell they even are. Just feels weird.

Yeah, that doesn’t seem like a great loan move. He should go to Leicester. That’s the picture perfect situation for him. A club that will probably be fighting at the top of the Championship and who feels like a PL side. Get him used to English football at a decent level.

There’s still a couple of gaping, massive holes in our team and it feels like there’s zero urgency from the club at all to fill them. Liverpool apart we have a very favorable opening set of fixtures. For a club coming off of a horror season it would be such a massive confidence booster to start this new season with a bunch of wins on the bounce. But in order to do that we need to solve our glaring issues. Or else much like last season, even small clubs and average players will carve right through our midfield.

You never seem to see the big star players from other clubs get serious, long term injuries. Your Salah’s, Kane’s, Rashford’s, or Saka’s never get injured. For Chelsea it’s not just squad players but key, massively important players that are fundamental to the way we play who get injuries that force them to miss months. Just in recent years James multiple times, Mount, Chilly, Kante multiple times, Kova. What the fuck is this curse that’s on us?
