Bruce Buck Promises Summer Of Big Spending
EskWeston replied to ChelseaUSA's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Can't see Shevchenko staying myself, Ancelotti didn't play him at Milan this season, can't see any reason why it would be any different here with Anelka and Drogba on top form. Pizarro will look to stay where he is on a permanant basis. We will want to keep the nucleous of our squad and trim where we need trimming and freshen things up a little. We are a few clever signings away from having a squad good enough to cope on all fronts. -
Bruce Buck Promises Summer Of Big Spending

I think we will spend more this summer than we have for a long while. I can see us bringing in 1 big name signing and then a few rising stars to add to our squad. When you look at our team you have to say that the 11 that started the FA Cup final is 100% Safe, even probably Malouda now who has become a new player: Cech, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry, A.Cole, Mikel, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba The ones who are also pretty much a guarantee to stay are: Ivanovic, J.Cole, Di Santo Which leaves us: Hilario, Ferreira, Belletti, Carvalho, Miniero, Ballack, Deco, Kalou It has been said that there will be 3 or 4 players leaving and 3 or 4 players comming in. I would think we would spend our big money on a player who can play on the wings. When you look at the players left the majority are in their 30's which is where we would like to bring the ages down. I could see us spending about £70m this summer. -
Stoch wasn't eligable this season, i think he will be next season though. Kakuta won't be eligable next season either. Kakuta's injury is recovering well. Has started doing light ball work i believe and will certainly be ready for the start of the season. The Homegrown rule (as being adopted by the football league) will really encourage youth development. To have 4 or 5 players in your matchday squad who are homegrown you will need to have almost double that in your overal squad to compensate for injuries.
-
Well it would be quite likely that Ferreira and Belletti will leave in the summer. Ivanovic and Mancienne even though they can play right back are both centre backs, so there is rrom for another right back. To be honest if we managed to pick up any of Pato, Aguero or Benzema it would be brilliant. All are young world stars in the making and exactly the sort of players we should be signing. The price will not be cheap for sure, and actually being able to prise them away from their clubs will be very hard also.

2008/09 TalkChelsea Forum Awards - The Results
EskWeston replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Announcements & Support
 Nice to pick up an award!! Well done to all the winners, fully deserved.... -
It wouldn't happen that way because you are not allowed to exclude someone from working because of their nationality. The only way around it is the Homegrown rule, where you have to have a certain number of homegrown players in your squad. Homegrown doesn't mean English however and can be foreign so there is no problem. The idea is that it will encourage more players from that nationality as the majority of players at an academy between 16 and 21 are likely to be (in our case) English. From a Chelsea point of view it means bringing though English youngsters (Mancienne, Cork, Bertrand ect...) but also it will include foreign players who have been with us for a certain period (Stoch, Kakuta ect....). The premier league have not yet confirmed how the premier league will impliment this, as unlike the CL there is not limit on squad size. But i would think something like 5 out of the matchday squad of 18 is pretty likely. At the moment in the UEFA ruling we are short on the "club trained" quota which means we have a smaller CL squad, but we are certainly addressing that problem.
-
There is no way that this rule will be passed through. I just can't see how they will get around European law. However the premier league have confirmed they will be implimenting a "homegrown" rule from the 2010/2011 season similar to the one adopted in the Champions League and in the football leagues.... You can see the logic behind the ideas, but in practicality having limits on the number of foreign players will not work.

We should never have let Johnson go in the first place. Would be suprised if we did re-sign him though. Wouldn't mind us signing Pato...
-
We all know Serie A has been corrupt, who is to say he wouldn't have a few more under his belt under normal circumstances. Are those older players his choice or forced upon him. I think we can give him a little slack on that until we see what he does with our squad. Speaks English well enough for now, certainly better than Capello when he came to manage England. The squad NEEDS chopping and changing. Bringing in Older players and getting rid of certain Chelsea ones is for now on paper talk, again for now we can give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. As for AC Milans achievments over the last couple of seasons, lack of investment compared to other clubs certainly hasn't helped their cause. The Sheva talk is again at the moment only paper talk.
-
Obviously he will need to be improving on his English! But that will happen, and Ray will help out as he can speak Italian. It's not quite clear yet if he is going to be bringing anyone with him, but there is room for people. Paul Clement will not be doing first team and reserves duties next season still.
-
That seems to be the feeling i have got, that he had little if no say over player recruitment. And that may be something that continues here.... it is all about getting the right setup now at coaching level and also at management level. I think Ancelotti will be given time, Roman clearly likes what Ancelotti can bring to the table. We will see what that is in time.
-
My big concern about Ancelotti is his ability to work with young players, especially bringing them through from our own resources. I don't know what set up he had at AC Milan, how much was forced upon him and how much was his own choice, but it is not something he has done at AC Milan.
-
I am sure signings will have been discussed long ago now and they have their list. I would be suprised if players like Seedorf, Pirlo and Beckham are really on his list because Chelsea WANT to take this club forward ith younger signings and also using the academy, this will have been made clear to Ancelotti and i would doubt we will see any "older" players signed. How much involvement will Ancelotti have on transfers anyway? That we will never be sure of. As long as every one at the club is working together for one common aim then we are on the right track.
-
A good thing about this appointment is that it is definately a Roman appointment. Roman clearly has a relationship with Ancelotti that is bordering on friendship. For me that is very important because we need to the whole club to be on the same page, and if Ancelotti has agreed (which he must have done) for Guus to still be involved then again all the better.
-
I have to be honest, i wasn't particulary keen to see him come here. But i will am more than happy to be proven wrong and i of course will give him all the backing for next season. He has a tough job to try and rebuild for next season. The club need to back him with some money for the transfer window, and he needs to not have intense pressure on him to be massively successful next season, as long as we can see he is taking us in the right direction then no matter what he should be given the time. Now starts another new era at CFC.....

Te club probably have a few players in mind that they would be willing to spend big money on and they are hoping that they will be able to capture them. Personally i like the idea of Aguero, wuld be worth the money i think. -
It is more than possible that a deal is in place but the terms are that neither club are to confirm anything until Chelsea appoint their new manager. As i said, it would probably not look good for us to start confirming signings until we have a new manager.
-
Sounds like all the attributes we look for in a winger. Nicknamed the "Russian Ronaldinho" as well, hopefully if we sign him he will be what we are looking for. Will be nice to Chelsea with flying wings again....
-
Well Hiddink calls him one of the best ATTACKING left sided players in the world, so presumably he is being brought in as a winger...... Can't say i know too much about him, only what i read, but i think he would be a good signing. Providing this does go through.
-
Interesting, so basically if we bid for him then he will come to us over Inter! There will not transfer confirmations till at least the new manager is in place, although that could happen as soon as Monday.
-
Quite a comment from Hiddink. "One of the best attacking left sided players in the world"... Obviously the club are not going to confirm any transfer until a new manager is in place, because it will look like the new man has no say in club transfers, even though i am sure discussions have already been made with the new man. It would not suprise me to see us sign Zhirkov, he does look like a classy player and the sort we should be looking at.

MOSCOW (AFP) - English Premiership side Chelsea signed Russian international midfielder Yury Zhirkov on a four-year term from Russian three-time champions CSKA Moscow, the daily tabloid Tvoi Den reported Friday.Reports said that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was excited with Zhirkov's performances this season and has negotiated a 30-million-dollar deal with the Red Army side. "Yury (Zhirkov) has signed the contract with Chelsea just a day or two ago," the newspaper quoted Zhirkov's agent as saying. "He will join his new team this summer. http://www.soccerway.com/news/2009/May/29/...a-sign-zhirkov/

He has hinted himself recently (i think on Big Match Countdown on CTV) that he could come back to the club in some other role than manager as i think he feels he wants to retire from management and do something different. So the reports of Rijkaard comming in and Hiddink comming back as DOF could be spot on. It would have been fantastic if we could have kept Guus, i would have been very confident he would have brough in the right players in the summer and next season we would have been different class.
-
Sinclair's chances are very slim now, but like i have said i put a lot of the fault for his decline with the club for mis-managing him. Rhys Taylor for me hasn't progressed as much as we would have liked, Jan Sebek has come to the fore this season and put in better performances than Rhys. And the future of Tejera is very uncertain, he may be off to Mallorca full time as there was reports they had an option on him.

You can have recall clauses in loans of course, the problem is that the clubs taking the players on loan are not too keen on them for obvious reasons.
