If we end up signing Juan Mata and Luka Modric i think it will have been a fantastic summer for us and it would put in a great position to really fight on all fronts.

Jeffrey Bruma has today (Thursday June 30) signed on loan with Hamburg on a one-year loan deal. The Dutch defender, who recently made the step up from the Under 21 to the full international squad, will spend next season at the Imtech Arena, with the option of another year afterwards. The 19-year-old spent three months on loan at Leicester City last season, scoring two long-range goals against Watford in his 11 appearances. Prior to that Bruma had made his first team debut for Chelsea in late 2009 and has gone on to make nine appearances so far. He remains contracted to Chelsea until 2014, and will link up with former Chelsea team-mates Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore, who all recently signed permanent deals with the German club. Reserve team goalkeeper Sam Walker will spend the coming season on loan at Northampton Town. It is a second loan spell for the 19-year-old, 6ft 6in goalkeeper who was between the posts throughout Chelsea's victorious 2010 FA Youth Cup-winning campaign. In March he went to League Two Barnet and helped The Bees preserve their Football League status with a last-day 1-0 win against Port Vale and was on the losing side just once in seven appearances, although he was sent off once for two yellow cards midway through his stay. Walker joined Chelsea three seasons ago from Millwall when still a schoolboy, and after featuring increasingly in the youth team despite plenty of competition, made his debut for the reserves in the 2009/10 season and last season made six appearances at that level. Northampton, managed by former Bristol City and Yeovil boss Gary Johnson, will compete in League Two this campaign. Source: Chelsea FC

The clubs policy at the moment is a good one i feel, Torres aside we are really building for a longer term future. Ramires, Luiz, Piazon, Courtois, Romeu, Lukaku all top top young players, add McEachran, Bertrand, Van Aanholt and a few others to that and we are looking good for the future.
-
Very pleased to finally get Lukaku sorted, beeing talked about for well over a year now. I am sure he will be a big success for us.

About a quarter of the way through my newest read "A Feast for Crows" book 5 of George R R Martin's "A song of ice and Fire" epic series. Such a brilliant series of books.....

Actually i blame the Barca bench for that game kicking off there. All of them got up and got involved as soon as that tackle went in, if they had stayed put Marcelo would have got sent off and the game would have carried on. The games have taken on a real new edge ot them now that is always boiling over. Jose seems to have become an exaggerated caricature of himself recently at Real. Doesn't do himself too much justice in those videos above, really don't think he is particulary happy there to be honest. With the players both team have these games can be real classics with some great football, but they always decend into madness now.

Not concerned about this deal as he has been training with the squad for a whole week now. Just very confused as to why a deal would have taken so long to get sorted considering a fee was agreed with his club over a week ago now.... very strange, will be nice to have him confirmed and Romeu at training to finally inject some new blood into the squad. If we do not bring any wingers in this summer then a loan is a bad move and i would bring him straight in, but if we do sign a top winger then sending him on loan would be good for him.
-
Would be a nice signing to make for sure. If we have made an initial offer then the figures being mentioned are not terrible and i would think a deal could be concluded. Again this is exactly the type of player we are crying out for.
-
The way the club works with their squad numbers this a huge boost for Josh, a really clear indicator that he is part of the first team squad proper. As was the number of minutes he got in pre season, should be used well this season i think

7 managers in 7 years - is it really THAT bad?
EskWeston replied to Tomo's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Agree with that, with each manager you can look to certain things that led to them going. Carlo's was that there was no real indication of being able to turn around the poor performances that we were putting in last season. Grant's was just because he was a waste of space. Scolari too was obvious that he was never going to turn things around and Jose fell out with Roman. -
I just think if we want to sign a winger then sign a winger... a top class winger too. We don't need a left back and it does just seem like another signing that would not really address the issues i think we have in our squad i.e lack of pace, creativity and players out wide who will run at defenders.

EskWeston replied to Tomo's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
It depends on your perspective, of course it is not good to see such constant change. But when you look at the success we have had over that period compared to other clubs who have held onto their managers then we are obviously doing something right. I am sure everyone would love to see a manager stay for 10 years and create something special but the most important thing is that we stay competitive and even with all those changes we have been able to do that. -
Have we underachieved in the Roman era?
EskWeston replied to Styles's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Of course we have not underachieved. We have been a huge success and as well as winning plenty of silverware we have established ourselves as one of the top clubs in world football, not an easy thing to do when you are not part of the "established order" of top European clubs. And on top of that we are definately going to win more and more in the future so i think we have definately been a success, no-one has a right to win every year. -
Well it looks like the club are certainly going to push for a work permit for Rajkovic, hopefully it will go through and we can finally see him play some games for Chelsea.
-
Connor really needs a loan. Like so many players coming through the English set up his second season in the reserves/loans has not gone so great for him. He really needs to get a good loan move where he can spend the season and play some games and really push himself forward and to make a name for himself. This call up is a good thing for him as it may raise his profile a little with clubs looking for loan players.
-
A few injuries picked up now will make the team selection a little easier for AVB. Still should be able to put a team out more than capable of beating Stoke. Looking forward to the season finally kicking off....
-
Lukaku would be a very nice signing for CFC, definately not a position we needed to buy in but Lukaku will be one for the future, will look forward to seeing him play for us soon enough.
-
I would agree with you if they were taking to the streets for a purpose other than to rob some shops, mug some people and fight with police. These people couldn't give a monkeys what is happening in this country, all they care about is how big a flat screen TV they can swipe from currys.
-
Could maybe understand if these riots had any meaning to them but they don't. It's just violence and looting for the sake of it. Not one of these useless idiots give a f**k about the state of the country..... All it is, is an much larger version of their beliefs that they are entitled to rob, loot and be violent as they see fit. And it won't stop until there is some major reaction to it because for 3 nights they have just been able to get away with it, tonight will be worse and more widespread for sure.
-
It would certainly seem that this deal will go through. One for the future and not a move that will improve the team for this season but still a good signing.
-
Will look forward to seeing him play in a Chelsea shirt. Seen some good reports on him, obviously good cover for Essien with the injury but hopefully can grow into a real candidate for a regular starting place.
-
It looks like deals for Lukaku and Modric will still try to be pushed through. Would still prefer a winger myself, but we will wait and see 26 days until the window closes, plenty of time to do some business.
