  1. i brought up an iva-cahill comparison to tell that cahill even with JT in the twilight of his career, luiz who is yet to reach his peak, and iva who is a versatile player, even with such options cahill is still our 4th best cb in this squad. i dint resort to comparing the mistakes of iva and cahill but just stated that even iva is a better cb than cahill. again this is merely a statement. u have yet to give any substantial argument as to WHY u think cahill is better than alex.
  2. every defender makes a mistake that would have cost us a match/a trohpy/a league or something or the other. a defender's ability should not be judged by one single mistake but by his over-all play. iva's mistake was a one-off which every player has once in his career where as cahill's problem is more on his own shortcomings and his technical ability. and that is what we are discussing here. iva had one horrible match against swansea but i have never seen him getting bullied and owned the way shane long owned cahill in our away match to wba last season (the 2-1 defeat). and that is not the only match cahill has had problems which was something u generally dont associate with a quality centre-back.
  3. did u see alex against barca? he was really good and still a beast. i would definitely have alex over cahill even today. and how do i trust you when u r just putting in a statement with no reasoning. as i said before cahill is a good defender, nothing more. if u give me a choice between cahill and iva, i ll take the latter in a heartbeat.
  4. nice answer but it still does not explain how cahill is a better defender than alex.
  5. your argument for cahill being better than alex was that he played 90 mins (which was 120 actually) in a UCL final that we won while alex plays for psg now. so just by extrapolating your argument even bosingwa and kalou played in the UCL final that we won and hence they are better than jallet and moura/lavezzi. also this was not my actual insight. this was just a counter-argument for the one u gave. my actual insight on the comparison of cahill and alex was in a big paragraph beneath that one line.
  6. 300k + 15 mil, why the fuck cant we just get back DD????
  7. so by your way of thinking bosingwa is a better RB than lets say jallet and kalou a better winger than moura/lavezzi? cahill is a decent defender. (i wanted to quote the post of the guy who called him "donkey" and give him an earful, but simply thought it would not have been worth it). cahill has his sets of problems which make him quite venerable against good players. i mean how could he not have closed marcelo down for the 1st goal. u simply cant keep backing into the goal and not expect the player to shoot. alex on the other hand was a better/complete/solid defender. i mean i seriously cant think of an aspect of cahill's defensive game that is better than alex's (remember i said defensive, so dont tell he contributes so much to the team in set pieces)
  8. oh great... another player to vitesse.
  9. spain squad has been announced and only azpi will be travelling from the team. mata has to and needs to start the game. with torres also available, this match will be very important to see who jose thinks is our main man.
  10. Snakes and jokers. i am 22 but still feel a little light headed around jokers.
  11. i never said he is average, i said he is a great player who has the potential to be "one of the best".
  12. hazard is a great player and has the POTENTIAL to be one of the best, but he DOES get a lot of hype/exxageration on here. the fact that he got 11 motm votes for the real madrid match and 13 motm votes in the ac milan match tells us about our blue-tinted attitude towards him. for me, he has had an average pre-season at best and this game he should step it up and play like he would play a pro-game. with moses performing the way he is, kdb having a good pre-season i would choose moses-oscar-kdb rather than kdb-oscar-hazard trio for the hull game. time for hazard to step up and show his AWESOMENESS and CLASS. as for the match, i really dont know what mou is going to do. LAMPS looked in some dire need of some game time. so dont know if lamps will start or we ll start with the probable team for the hull match or mou will play the members who dint play against rm (mata, mikel, ba).
  13. thats obvious dude. in a player vs player comparison of our squad and RM we wont have many better players, if any. RM, bayern and barca are the pinnacle without any doubt. but what i was trying to say is that we would have been far more threatening than we were. espcially in the 2nd half where we looked absolutely toothless without rambo and mvg.
  14. how do u upload a gif on the forum. mine is just showing the first pic.
  15. i really doubt that they would have won it so easily. our most influential player had to be hazard, especially since he was up against arbeloa, arbeloa would probably have been red-carded by the 30th minute of this was a pro-match. he had hacked on hazard twice before hazard went on that run in which he hacked on him again and then simply caught his shirt. all these 3 incidences would have had him sent off or atleast yellow-carded which would have given hazard far more purchase against him. also we should have had a penalty when we were 1-1 when oscar was felled by ramos/arbeloa or atleast lamps should have got a pen. so we definitely should have gone into the 2nd half with either 2-1 up or atleast 2-2 level. also u have to take into consideration that we were without our 2 best players - MATA and LUIZ. luiz IS our best CB at the moment. jt-cahill-iva are all very passive defenders who are strong in the air and are best when played in a very constricting way (remember barca). but today we tried to attack and real counter-attacked which would have made luiz a must if he was fit. as for mata, lesser said the better. 2nd half was a proof to the fact that mata IS the soul of our attack. late in the 2nd half kdb/essien changed the play to moses with really good balls but when moses got the ball, he had no option. hazard was far off and simply should not be played central. torres was never in the box and cr was disallowing a back pass to azpi, hence there was absolutely no link up play between our forwards which definitely is NEVER the case when MATA is on the pitch. he is as important to us as probably ronaldo is to RM. hence i feel we are really over-reacting towards this one defeat. i mean you dont DOMINATE AND OUT-PLAY the MILANS if you are not ready. we are ready but today jose had to give lamps a run out (who was quite poor) because he had absolutely no game time at all in the past 3 months. but if you consider the fact that if we had played 4-2-3-1 in the 1st half with oscar thru the center and kdb/mata/moses on the right wing, then marcelo would not have had half the freedom to roam around our D like he was doing today. oscar offered nothing on the wing plus dint track marcelo down well enough, leaving iva exposed against cr and marcelo on a couple of occasions (cr himseld is a nightmare but marcelo too was catastrophe). hence i feel if this was not a friendly, things would have been quite different, on the other hand RM played their best side, which they would have started against us in a CL qf or semi, and probably played with far more zeal and zest to prove a point against their ex-manager.
  16. precisely. even more reason for lamps to get some game time before the start of the season. lamps will play the role of a super-sub this season and might be needed as early as OT or in SUPER-CUP. do u really want him to play a pro game with no game time. also as u said that jose should start with the 1st team that he plans to play against roma (i feel he will do that), then today's game was even more crucial for lamps to get a good work out. the result dint matter. it wont matter in a day's time because its in-consequential. also the point was for lamps to get a decent workout which was obvious would happen only in the 1st half and both teams would start making subs in the 2nd half which normally means no tempo/momentum to the game.
  17. i know he is good but not that good.
  18. because jose took this match for exactly what it was - A PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY which is played with the purpose of getting our players to full fitness. lamps had not played in any of the games and his performance and fitness showed exactly why HE SHOULD HAVE STARTED THE GAME.
  19. the only think good about today's match was our pivot, ie, rambo-mvg. defence was poor, attack was non-existent.
