IMO Alex is technically a better CB than Terry, but the leadership is something else you need to have. It would be horrible if we sold him.

We can still do this, we just lack the creativity in the team! when you also ask what was so effective about those styles is that we had creativity, width and depth in our squad. Something we've lacked this year. We're never going to be a Barcelona because of the players we have, you may need to shuffle almost the entire squad... If this is the plan then it won't happen over night. Like I said teams have figured us out because we lack those things we once had. Once we retain them we can go back to effective, ugly, winning football. Yes it's not pretty but I think we'd struggle big time trying to adapt. This is why, if we are getting rid of DD then we need someone like Lukaku

I think it's best we have strikers like that so we can always adapt our play. If passing slick through balls to Sturridge & Torres isn't working to well then we can play a more physical game with Lukaku maybe. Plan B

I think there may be more to it than that. He is an Atletico Madrid player, very fierce rivalry like Man Utd - Liverpool transfer or maybe worse. I'd like to think he'll come to England either here, Man City or Sp*rs would be my guess. I'd be very surprised if he went to RM. Also, do you have a quote of him wanting to go Real?
