If you look at our recent history, we do better during the season when we do worse on the opening day if that makes sense. 04/05 Start with a 1-0 win, Champions 05/06 Start with a 1-0 win, Champions 06/07 Start with a 3-0 win, runners up 07/08 Start with a 3-2 win, runners up 08/09 Start with a 4-0 win, 3rd place 09/10 Start with a 2-1 win, Champions 10/11 Start with a 6-0 win, runners up 11/12 Start with a 0-0 draw So history suggest's the worse we do on day one, the better our season ends up, lets hope its the case again.

good review Not to disapointed with the performance, much better than i saw most if not all of last season.
-
Im try and defend Kalou is possible but today he was dire at best.
-
Yes the result today was dis-apointing but The Brittania is one of the hardest places to play in the league, but the performance difference is easy to see already. Fernando Torres and Jose Bosingwa What the fucking hell has happened, Torres was incredible today, absolutely incredible hungry, making runs very unlucky not to get a goal and Bosingwa looked a completely different player In My Opinion. Very good from them two. Pressure and ball retention 64% possesion in a small pitch against a team that are constantly in your faces says it all, we made good passes and movement's on the ball, yes wasted a few but look like Barca in comparision to last season, and we were good with our pressure to get the ball back especially in the second half. Urgency What hurt the most about last season was how easy teams held out to 1/3 points against us as we showed little to no urgency in the latter stages, today as longer as the second half went on we were making Stoke sweat blood and tears to get that point something that i was screaming at the tele for last season so im more than happy about that aspect. ITS ONLY DAY ONE Remember that, Guardiola's first Barca game was a loss against a newly promoted side, United did not win their first four games when they won the treble or their first three in 07/08 and those season's didn't go bad. 2 out of United's last 3 titles came after opening day stalemates. Apart from the top United and City, IMO this is the hardest place to win. All signs bode to a succesful season.

Que the over-reacting our season is over cry's
-
I heard Gourlay is drawing up their new five year contracts that will be signed when they get back into london
-
What we lack IMO with Essien out, as-well as a obvious creative player, i personally think our top priority has to be a player who can take a big game by the scruff of the neck and Barton fits that bill. Not one to get exicted about but i will not be angry if we get him either.

No good if you can'y defend, is it a coinsidence Pool's defence has gone to pot since Johnson replaced a perfectly good Arbeloa.

7 managers in 7 years - is it really THAT bad?

I don't think the sole reason for sacking managers was because of his failure to win the champions league, it's just a myth from the anti Chelsea media, yes Roman wants it at the club sooner rather than later who wouldn't but he does not base his decision's solely on that. Grant was toast even if we had won, dropped points and shite tactics put pay to that, the CL final should never have gone to pens, if Avram got his tactics right or less wrong we would have won in normal time, he nearly got away it but either way he was gone. I don't think Carlo was sacked because of the trophyless season, he was sacked because of the way we went trophyless, although i wanted him to stay the performances last season were indefendable. If Andre gets us playing pulsating football and say gets 85 points but just gets pipped by United or City on 86, has the young players a step up in development and we exit the CL kicking and screaming instead of the laboured way we went out to United can you really see him getting the sack? -
Johnson? shit defender, getting exposed at Liverpool and England. Sidwell? should not have made that signing in the first place and he was mid 20's when he joined, hardly a youngster. Di Santo? shit all round, his goal record aint that much better than Gary Neville's. Mancienne? never convincing on loan spells. Bruma? Exposed at times last season and had a rough ride at Leicester, this move is the right one for him.

Bored so i thought id make up 10 question quiz 1. Who was the last Chelsea player to score in a home defeat to Arsenal? 2. How many Chelsea players have played under Gerard Houllier at some point in their career and who? 3. How many times have Chelsea scored past Joe Hart? 4. How many clean sheets has Petr Cech kept against Manchester United? 5. Which season did Gianfranco Zola score his least amount of Chelsea goals in one season? 6. Who did Frank Lampard score his first Chelsea goal against? 7. Paulo Ferreira scored his first Chelsea goal in 2006, which Chelsea player scored a own goal in the same game? 8. Who were the opponents in the match Paulo scored in and who got the other two goals to compete a 3-1 win? 9. Didier Drogba has faced Arsenal in 5 different grounds, which is the only stadium he has not scored against them in? 10. How many times did Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink score against Liverpool during his Chelsea career? no cheating get 9 or 10 ill give u a rep

Why does when a new player get signed they assume its the end for a young one, its hardly ever the case. We here the same crap with Modric, people seem to think McEachran is in trouble if he signs. Prime example remember when Deco signed for Barcelona? Iniesta was only 19 and was on the verge of breaking through to the first team week in week out, every one thought Deco was going to push him back but did it? no and it won't happen here either.

chelseatickets.org/chelsea-tie-up-rights-to-three-young-brazilian-players/ thoughts? for once it looks like we did well on this one.
-
Judging by his display there last season is it such bad thing?
-
Stats like that can be misleading, like for example during the 90's we had amazing record at Old Trafford but a beyond shite one at Anfield, does that mean Liverpool were better than United in that decade? Another example Everton at home, Chelsea fans deem that as a bogey fixture these days despite the fact Everton have not won a league match at he Bridge for i dont know how long. Stoke are still a hard team to brake down at The Britt and in reality we could have had no serious complaints if they won the fixture their last season 4-1.
-
By then we should have been able to tempt Madini and Cafu out of retirement
-
Stoke are one of the premierleague success stories. When they came up they were one of the shortest odds ever to go back down, 4 season's in and they are well on their way to being like Charlton were in the early 00's. Tony Pulis is a fantastic manager i have to say.

Has he got his work permit?

True say this season we have 85 points and the champs have 88, our youth are looking better, we go out of the CL with a fight and not the lame way United knocked us out and there are genuine exicting signs for the future can any=one really see Andre getting sacked? -

The CL final should never have gone to pens, Rio was struggling yet Grant kept Drogba on Vidic, given Sheva's CL final expierence not bringing him on was criminal. The FA Cup Barnsley didn't even have to play that well to beat us and that hurt, the carling cup final he got the team and tactics wrong, ie not picking a in form Cole and sorry but to lose 10 point in injury time is unacceptable. Yes ok he did well steadying the ship but that year we were at the peak of our powers and should have done so much better.
